Percentile for 200-250 marks in JEE Main 2023

What is the percentile for 200-250 marks in JEE Main 2023: National Testing Agency has released the JEE Main 2023 exam dates. JEE Main Percentile score is a score calculated based on the relative performance of applicants who take the JEE Main exam. It is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained. The normalization formula is used by NTA to compute applicants' JEE Main percentile scores. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the JEE Main Result 2023 in online mode on February 7, 2023 on its official website- jeemain.nta.nic.in.  NTA uses a normalization procedure based on percentile computation to generate JEE Main 2023 results and rank list.

The NTA will construct the JEE Main 2023 rank list based on percentile scores rather than raw marks obtained by test candidates. The percentile score for the JEE Main exam is equivalent to the marks in the JEE Main 2023 Marks Vs percentile Vs rank. Students who will be participating in the upcoming NTA JEE Main and want to know what is the percentile for 200-250 marks in JEE Main 2023 can go through the following article and get details.

What is the Normalization Method in JEE Main 2023?

When an exam like JEE Main 2023 is given in two sessions, normalization is used to balance out the exam's degree of difficulty. Therefore, NTA will announce the JEE Main 2023 percentile that was acquired after JEE Main normalization. JEE Main Percentile scores, which are typically calculated on a scale of 100 to 0 for each session of students, show the percentage of applicants that scored the same as or lower (same or lower raw scores) than that specific percentile in that examination. As a result, each JEE Main 2023 session's highest scoring will ultimately get a percentile of 100, which is ideal.

As part of the JEE Mains marking methodology, NTA will sum the students' raw marks and normalize them to derive the percentile scores for each of the three subjects—Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as well as the overall. It is desired that the top score in each JEE Main 2023 session would have a percentile of 100. Additionally, the scores between the top and lowest will be transformed into percentiles. The merit lists will be created using this percentile score. It should be noted that the percentile scores will be calculated with up to 7 decimal places in order to minimize bunching and tie-breaking amongst candidates who have identical scores.

The JEE Main Percentile 2023 will be calculated as per the given formulae.

JEE Main 2023 Tie Breaking Policy

As JEE Main exam 2023 is conducted in various sessions and several candidates participate in the exam, there is a possibility that two or more students score the same marks. In that case, JEE Main 2023 tie-breaking policy will be utilized. The percentages of the total raw scores will be used to create the JEE Main merit list and rank list. The inter-se merit will be decided in the following order if two or more test takers get equal Percentile Scores on the exam:

  • Candidates scoring higher in the test's mathematics percentile will be given preference
  • Then, candidates scoring at a greater percentage on the physics test will be given preference
  • Then, candidates scoring better in the test's Chemistry Percentile will be given preference
  • Then, Candidates who are older will be preferred
