Seminar on 'Resume Writing and Effective Official Communication' in 2016- The Placement Cell of the college organized a seminar on “Resume Writing and Effective Official Communication”, to provide students an assistance for a perfect resume building. The seminar took place on Wednesday, 21st September 2016, from 10:30 A.M. onwards in the Seminar Hall of the college. The Speaker of the day Mr. Neel Panicker from Triumphant Institute of Management Education (T.I.M.E.) who has a Master’s in Business Administration and has been guiding aspirants seeking admission in prestigious B schools from more than a decade addressed an audience of 170 students and 5 teachers. He was warmly welcomed with a bouquet by the Placement Cell Convener Mr. Anil Khurana. With this began the interactive session, the speaker talked about the insights, as a resume becomes the face of the candidate for the interviewer it should highlight all the relevant details, it should be written in a style that the weaknesses can also treated as a strength. He further talked about keeping the resume precise and making it distinct from others. He not only enlightened the students with some great tips but also left them mesmerized by focusing on the little mistakes they might commit while writing a resume. The healthy session was concluded with an enthusiastic interaction with the students where several questions were put forward by the keen candidates and duly addressed by the speaker. The convener gave a vote of thanks to the guest. The students were pleased to extract information about the key issues while writing a resume. After the seminar the speaker revealed that he had been addressing several such seminars over the years, but was delighted with the professional environment he was provided by the college, he also added that the warmth received was far unmatched.
Seminar on ‘How to crack Group Discussion and Personal Interview’ in 2015- The Placement Cell of the college organized a seminar on “How to crack group discussions and personal interviews”, to guide and groom the students for the upcoming campus placements for the session 2015-16. The seminar was organized on November 04, 2015, at 11:15 A.M in room number 10 in college premises. The resource persons were Dr. Swapan Dasgupta and Dr. Anil Kamboj from New Delhi Institute of Management. Prof. Swapan Dasgupta has had an illustrious career in corporate and academic world, while Dr. Anil Kamboj is a former Inspector General and has been in the academic world for over a decade. The event was graced with the presence of 15 teachers and over 150 final year students. With a warm welcome of the guests, a token of appreciation was presented by the principal, Shyam Lal College. At this note, began the talk where the resource person initiated sharing the role played by group discussion and personal interview in the selection process. The essentials to crack a G.D. are to work out on communication skills, leadership skills, subject knowledge and most importantly, putting all of them in an amicable way. For insights on personal interview, the speaker recommended the soon-to-be candidates to be confident, elegant and patiently listen to the interviewer. The discourse was brought to an end by concluding that the profile demands must match the candidates’ caliber too for a successful career. The healthy session of qualifying G.D. and P.I. was concluded with an equally thought provoking interaction with the students where several questions were solicited by the keen candidates and duly addressed by the speaker. Shri. Anil Khurana, placement cell convener gave a vote of thanks to Dr. Dasgupta and Dr. Kamboj. The students were pleased to get enlightened about the key issues of G.D. and P.I. which would assist them in their future growth process. After the seminar the speakers revealed that they had been addressing several such seminars over the years, but they were most impressed with the professional manner in which the event had been organized in our College, and that the warmth received by them was by far unmatched.
