Established in 1967, the National Institute of Technology is located in Assam in Silchar city. NIT Silchar is declared an Institute of National importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. NIT Silchar has been ranked 737 in the US News Global University ranking, 2022. NIT Silchar is also among the Engineering World University Ranking, 2022. The National Institute of Technology Silchar placement cell promotes institute-industry interaction through sponsored research to work in the industry for the short term. The training and placement cell of the National Institute of Technology Silchar works under the guidance of the training and placement officer in consultation with FIC. Working closely as a liaison between the industry and the institute, the training and placement cell of the National Institute of Technology is well-equipped with all the necessary technology and advanced infrastructure to carry each stage of the placement process smoothly. The training and placement cell staff believe that the technical class that is training today will be the problem-solvers and visionaries of tomorrow.
The placement process followed at the National Institute of Technology Silchar involves the interested companies contacting the training and placement cell through e-mail first. Then the training and placement cell staff return to the recruiters by sending them a Job Notification Form (JNF). This form is accompanied by a formal invitation to the recruiting companies for recruitment drives at NIT Silchar and all the necessary details related to the placement process. The placement office allots the slots for the placement drive based on the filled-out Job Notification Form. The allotment is subject to the availability of slots depending upon the slots offered to all the companies right from the beginning and other factors.
The companies then visit the campus of the National Institute of Technology Silchar's campus on the schedule mentioned as per their allotted date in their communications sent via email. The companies conduct the various stages of recruitment as per their policies and need. It may be based on the interviews, tests, group discussions, and so on as required by the recruiting companies. On the same day, when all the selection processes are considered to be done, the companies are requested to present the final list of students from NITS.
