Candidates should have completed their graduation (Bachelor’s degree) in any stream from a recognised university or institution.
All aspirants must have secured a minimum aggregate score of 50% or more in the qualifying examination.
To pursue the 2-year postgraduate programme in mass communication, all aspirants must go through a set of selection processes defined individually by colleges and universities in India. The admissions processes for a Master of Mass Communication programme can range between two prominent admission processes which include either an entrance-based admission or merit-based admissions.

Most colleges or universities will conduct a university-level entrance exam to offer admissions to the MMC course. After successful submission of the application form, the applicants will be directed to appear for the entrance test on the stipulated date and time.
After attempting the test, individual colleges and universities will release merit-lists containing the names of all candidates along with their ranks and scores.
Shortlisted candidates will further be asked to participate in different selection processes which may include a personal interview and/or group discussion.
Based on the overall performance of the candidates in the entrance test and the personal interview and/or group discussion, the prospective students will be offered admissions to the MMC course.
After the submission of the application forms, the universities/colleges will call the students to appear the selection processes, which will be individually defined for each college.
A couple of merit lists will be released by the concerned college or university with the names of all candidates and their ranks as per the information they presented.
Candidates will then be asked to participate in a Document Verification Process, which will require the applicants to present their respective documents to prove their eligibility.
Subsequently, they may also be asked to sit for other selection parameters such as a Personal Interview and/or Group Discussion.
The overall performance of the candidates in the different selection parameters, including the past academic record and the personal interview and/or group discussion will determine the admission of a student to the course at the concerned college.
Common under both Entrance-Based and Merit-Based admissions, counselling-based admissions is a common selection parameter chosen by some of the top tier colleges and universities.
In entrance-based admissions, the colleges will release merit lists containing the names of the candidates with their ranks and scores obtained in the entrance test.
In merit-based admissions, the educational institution in India will release merit lists containing the names of the candidates along with their qualifying marks.
Based on the ranks and scores of the candidates in the respective merit lists, the university will call the prospective students for counselling rounds, in the order of merit.
Here, candidates will be asked to select the course and college as per their requirements.
The University/College will offer admissions to the candidates based on their ranks/scores as per the merit lists, the preferred choice of course and college and the vacancy of seats in the selected course and college.
Note: Each college will define its own admission guidelines and candidates will be required to follow the policies and guidelines.
