About M.Tech Mining Engineering

M.Tech in Mining Engineering is a post-graduate degree which is offered in the stream of engineering and is of a total of 2 years duration. The students who have completed a bachelor's degree in Bachelors of Technology (B. Tech) can opt to pursue a Master's degree in Mining Engineering. Through this course, the candidates are offered theoretical and practical knowledge in terms of advanced concepts of Mining Engineering such as mining and extraction of natural minerals, computer applications for mining,  natural resources, etc. For the 2 years course duration, the course is divided into four semesters for which the exam is conducted after each semester and the students opt for an internship or training in the last semester. M.Tech Mining Engineering Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who wish to pursue a degree in M. Tech Mining Engineering must fulfil certain eligibility criteria in order to get eligible for the course. Though the eligibility criteria for admission to M. Tech Mining Engineering differs from college to college, there are certain minimum eligibility criteria which the candidates must fulfil for admission.

M.Tech Mining Engineering Admission Process

While some college offers admission to M. Tech Mining Engineering program on the basis of merit obtained by the student in a National level entrance exam (GATE), some of the colleges also conduct their own entrance exam for testing the eligibility of students for admission. Based on the merit obtained by the student in the qualifying exam or an entrance exam, the shortlisted candidates are called for the university level test in which their proficiency in terms of Mining Engineering, Mathematics Concept, Aptitude and Reasoning are evaluated.

Based on the overall marks obtained by the student in the entrance exam and B.Tech degree, the eligible candidates are offered admission to the program. Some colleges also provide lateral entry to the M. Tech Mining Engineering program for the candidates who have completed their Bachelor's degree in the relevant stream and have 6 years of experience in the field of mining engineering. 

M.Tech Mining Engineering Course Fee

The course fee for M. Tech Mining Engineering depends on various factors such as the type of the institute,  the popularity/ ranking of the institute, and the merit/ scholarship earned by the student. For instance, the student having higher marks in the entrance exam will be provided higher scholarship, accounting for a lower course fee as compared to students with direct admission. On the other hand,  the government based institutes will have much lower fees as compared to private institutes. On average, the course fee for M. Dear Student,

Yes, as per your graduation aggregate, you are eligible to apply for admission to IIT Hyderabad. However, to get selected for admission, you will have to appear for the Post Graduate Entry Exam (PGEE) which is conducted by IITH for admission to MS and M.Tech programs.

The admission procedure for IIT Hyderabad consists of the following steps:

1. The candidates will have to apply for the PGEE exam and pay the application fee through the official website.

2. The candidates will have to appear for the PGEE entrance test which will consist of two sections: General Aptitude and Subject Papers.

3. If the candidates qualify the entrance test, they will have to appear for the group discussion and personal interview round.

4. If the candidates qualify all three rounds, admission will be provided to the candidate.
