About B.Ed Special Education

B.Ed special education is a stream of Bachelors of Education which has been designed to provide special and advanced skills & training to the teachers. B. Ed Special Education is a bachelor's degree which is of a total of two years duration divided into four semesters altogether. The course has been designed to train the teachers to teach students who are differently-abled or physically challenged. Through the course, the teachers are given theoretical and practical knowledge in terms of teaching skills methodologies, teaching pedagogy,  and other skills. Through this course, the candidates can pursue their education in any of the specialisations including locomotor disability, low vision, hearing impairment, visual impairment, learning disability, deafblindness, autism, spectrum disorder, multiple disabilities and other differently challenged specialisation. The minimum eligibility required to pursue B. Ed special education is to pass a graduation degree in Bachelors of Education from a recognised Institute.

B.Ed Special Education Eligibility Criteria

In order to pursue a degree in B.Ed Special Education, the candidates must fulfil the required eligibility criteria for the admission. Eligibility requirement which the candidates need to fulfil for admission to B. Ed Special Education are given in the points below:

  • Candidates must have pursued a degree in Bachelors of Education (B. Ed) or any equivalent graduation degree in relevant stream from a recognised Institute.

  • The candidate must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 50% in the graduation level exam with all the subjects put together.

  • The candidate must have passed class 12th in the relevant stream from a recognised Institute with a minimum aggregate of 50%.

Admission Process

The process of admission for B.Ed Special Education varies from colleges to institutes. While some of the institutes may offer admission directly on the basis of the merit obtained by the students in the qualifying exam, some of the colleges also conduct their own entrance test followed by an interview round to test the eligibility of the student for admission to the course. After the evaluation of the basic eligibility for the applying students, the candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria are called for the entrance test round where they have to attempt the basic logical questions related to teaching and aptitude. The candidates who qualify in the entrance test are further called for the personal interview round. Based on the overall marks obtained by the candidates in the entrance test and the personal interview round, the qualified candidates are called for the final interview process where they have to get their documents verified, pay the admission fee and complete their admission process to B.Ed Special Education program.
