Bachelor of Hotel Management Syllabus & Subjects Overview

BHM or Bachelor of Hotel Management syllabus is spread across three to four years depending on the institution and college where the student is pursuing the course. The course structure is mainly focused on the core and elective subjects that train on various skills related to the hotel and hospital industry such as food production, food and beverage service, housekeeping operations, front office operations and fundamental skills. Hands-on training in the industry comprises an integral part of the syllabus. BHM syllabus includes at least six weeks of internship that gives them on-field training. 

To take admission into a Bachelor of Hotel Management course, students have to gain at least 50% marks in 10+2 and take BHM entrance exams. The BHM course syllabus is delivered through lectures, seminars, presentations, etc. After the course, students can enter into jobs in hotels, luxury hotels, cruises, cabin services, clubs, etc. The BHM salary is around INR 3 LPA to INR 4 LPA.

Bachelor of Hotel Management Course Structure

The course structure of the Bachelor of Hotel Management provides theoretical and practical skills to make competent personnel with the necessary knowledge, skills, values and attitude. It also helps in developing the right kind of values and attitudes to function effectively in the hospitality industry. There are continuous internal and sessional assessments that consist of classroom exercises, texts, seminars, presentations, group tasks, unit tests, quizzes, etc. 

The curriculum of the Bachelor of Hotel Management includes around 40 courses. Students also get an opportunity to get industrial training of 20 weeks in the fifth semester. There are also vice-voce, training reports, presentations before the panel and log book performance appraisals. 

The project study is offered in the eighth semester. A vacation training of not less than 30 days is provided during vacation at the end of the second and fourth semesters.
