About M.Sc in Maternity Nursing

M.Sc. in Maternity Nursing is a two-year postgraduate program in which students learn how to help women in the childbirth process. In M.Sc Maternity Nursing course, the student learns how to take care of expectant mothers before, during and after childbirth. Under the course, the student also develops specialized skills to enhance their skills. At the time of surgery, maternity nursing needs to stand for hours and must have a calming effect on the mother. Maternity nurses support a woman through the entire cycle of childbirth. Good maternity nurses can even communicate with women at the time of delivery so that the childbirth process goes smoothly.

M.Sc in Maternity Nursing Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should have secured a Bachelor degree in science with a minimum of 45% marks from any recognized university (Qualifying Percentage vary from one college to another)

  • In most of the colleges, candidates need to appear for the entrance exam i.e National/ State/ Institute Level 

  • In some colleges, candidates also need to submit 1-year work experience in Hospital or Nursing Clinic in the relevant field

  • Candidates should be medically fit and they need to submit a medical fitness certificate from a recognized physician

M.Sc in Maternity Nursing Admission Process

The most common admission procedure followed in many colleges is listed below:-

  • In most of the government or  private colleges, the candidates need to appear for the entrance exam conducted by the college or need to appear for National/ State/ Institute Level entrance exam

  • Based on the entrance score merit list be prepared

  • The candidates who meet the cut-off scores of the entrance exam will then need to  appear for the counselling process conducted by the college
