The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Medical Sociology is an allied health sciences programme offered in the prestigious medical, paramedical and allied health science colleges of India. B.Sc Medical Sociology Eligibility Criteria

  • All candidates must have cleared 10+2 or equivalent preferably in the stream of science from a recognised board of education in India.

  • They must also have secured a minimum aggregate score of 50% or more in the qualifying exam, in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics. The subject requirement of each college will be determined by the college offering the course.

B.Sc Medical Sociology Admission Process

The admissions to B.Sc Medical Sociology programmes in India will be based on the admission policies of the respective colleges. In India, there are two different methods of offering admissions to candidates, i.e. entrance-based or merit-based. Here, most colleges may offer admissions based purely on merit basis, however, some may require you to appear for a University-level entrance exam.

Merit-Based Admissions

  • Candidates must provide the details of their academic qualifications along with a valid proof of the same.

  • Based on the eligibility criteria set by the institute and the academic qualifications of the candidate, such as the scores obtained in the qualifying exam, the subjects pursued at 10+2 level, etc.

  • The admission committee will scrutinise the application forms that have been received and shortlist the candidates who qualify the admission criteria and call the shortlisted candidates for further selection processes, if applicable. In other cases, candidates may also be offered admission purely on the basis of their past academic qualifications.

  • Depending on the admission policy of the college offering the course, the candidates may either be called for a Personal Interview and/or Group Discussion.

  • Based on the overall performance of the candidates, i.e. the past academic qualifications and the performance in the Personal Interview and/ or Group Discussion, the candidates will be selected for admissions to the programme.

Entrance-Based Admissions

  • Candidates will be asked to apply, download the Admit Cards and appear for the entrance test on the stipulated date, time and place.

  • Here, candidates will be asked to attempt the entrance test within a stipulated time period, following which, based on their performance in the exam, they will be further shortlisted for further selection processes.

  • Shortlisted candidates will be called to appear either for a Personal Interview and/or Group Discussion, depending on the admission policy of the respective colleges.

  • Based on their performance in the entrance test and the personal interview and/or Group Discussion, candidates will further be selected for admissions to the programme.

  • Selection to B.Sc Medical Sociology will be done based on the past academic qualification, entrance test score and the performance of the candidates in the personal interview and/or group discussions.

B.Sc Medical Sociology Course Fee

In order to pursue a course in Medical Sociology in any one of the colleges offering the course, aspirants will be asked to pay an annual course fee of B.Sc Medical Sociology ranging between ?30,000 - ?1,20,000. The B.Sc Medical Sociology course fee will differ between government and private institutions, with government institutions being the cheaper options.
