B.Sc in Biochemistry is a three-year undergraduate program that offers in-depth knowledge of biology and chemistry with regard to plants, humans and animals processes, human physiology, basic immunology, microbiology, enzymology etc.
The main aim of the program is to make students understand the dynamics and mechanism of the biological activities taking place inside the human body.
The knowledge gained through the studying biochemistry is widely used in various industries like medical research, food and packaging, pharmaceuticals, medicine and genetics. Candidates who have an aptitude for complex biological processes and have a thorough understanding of relevant texts and have good research skills can take up the course.
The main aim of B.Sc in Biochemistry is to provide aspirants with field-specific knowledge and skill sets through theoretical and practical sessions.

The eligibility criteria for B.Sc in Biochemistry programme is similar to other B.Sc programmes. The basic eligibility criteria which the candidates must fulfil are:
Candidates must have completed their Class XII studies (or equivalent) from any recognised Board in Science stream.
It is compulsory for the candidates to have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics mandatorily at the qualifying exam level to be eligible for the B.Sc in Biochemistry program.
The candidates should also have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% or above at the qualifying level.
Admission into the 3-year B.Sc in Biochemistry programme is done both on the basis of merit and entrance exam scores. In the entrance exam process, the candidates can appear in any national-level, state-level or institute-level entrance examination and secure valid marks or a valid rank. Based on the rank or entrance exam score, a counselling process is conducted (institute-level or national-level) and thereafter final allocation of seats is done.
Some institutes also offer direct admission into the B.Sc in Biochemistry programme where the qualifying exam scores, i.e the 12th scores are taken into consideration and a merit list is prepared. Based on the merit list, the suitable candidates are offered admissions.
