BSc Geology Eligibility Criteria

In order to pursue the BSc Geology course, the candidates will have to fulfil the given below eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent from a recognized board.

  • The candidate must have studied Mathematics and Physics as the main subjects in class 12th along with one of the optional subjects as Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science.

  • The candidate must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 50% in the qualifying examination.

Admission Process

The admission process of BSc Geology takes place generally on the basis of merit list (marks obtained in 10+2). However, there are some colleges and universities that also conduct their own entrance examination for granting admission to BSC geology courses. The students must take note of the admission process both through merit based and entrance based examination. 

BSc Geology Merit-Based Admission

The merit-based admission to the course is done directly on the basis of score obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination. Some colleges also prepare a cutoff list based on the qualifying examination for admission.

  • The students can apply to different colleges and universities of their choice after completing their 12th from a recognised board. They can apply by visiting the official website of the university once the application window is open for the admission process. 
  • The colleges release their merit list of selected students once the window for application is closed.
  • The colleges can release a second or third list depending upon the availability of the seats for the selected course and also considering the number of students that have applied for the course. 
  • The students willing to pursue BSc Geology must keep a note of the cutoffs of the famous and reputed organizations. The cutoffs of good and reputed colleges generally range between 75% - 85%.However, the top colleges cutoffs exceed 90%.

The entrance based admission to the course is done on the basis of score obtained by the candidate in a national level, state level or college level entrance exams. The admission is done through the counselling process.
