About GSAT 2018

GSAT (short for GITAM Science Admission Test) is a national-level exam organised every year for various Undergraduate and Postgraduate Science courses offered by the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management University in its 3 campuses i.e. Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. For PG courses, GSAT is conducted in the month of May, whereas, for UG courses, the entrance is conducted in the month of June. GSAT is held in offline mode (Pen and Paper based) for aspirants willing to take admission into M.Sc, BEM, Integrated M.Sc, BCA, B.Sc and MCA courses.

GSAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility norms for GSAT 2018 are defined by the GITAM University. Before filling the application form, applicants should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility requirements.

GSAT 2018 eligibility norms are stated below:

Eligibility Criteria for UG courses:

For B.Sc with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Electronics:

  • Applicants should have Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at 10+2 level and should have a minimum aggregate of not less than 50% marks.

For BEM, 5 years Integrated M.Sc. and BCA:

  • Applicants seeking admission in the given courses should have a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Science subjects in the qualifying examination of Higher Secondary of 10+2 level.

  • Applicants who have appeared or are appearing in the final examination of the qualifying exam in 2018 are also eligible to apply for GSAT 2018.

Eligibility Criteria for PG courses:

  • Applicants should pass the following qualifying exams with 50% marks or second class in the group (optional) subjects.

For M.Sc. Applied Mathematics:

  • Applicants should have a B.Sc. degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects and Mathematics and Physical Sciences in Intermediate or 10 +2 level from a recognised university.

For M.Sc. Physics:

  • Applicants should have a B.Sc. degree with Physics, Mathematics and any other subject from a recognised institution or University.

For M.Sc. Electronics Science:

  • Applicants should have a B.Sc. degree with Electronics/ Physics, Mathematics and any other subject.

For M.Sc. Chemistry (Analytical/ Organic/ Pharmaceutical):

  • Applicants should have passed B.Sc. course with Chemistry as one of the subjects from a recognised university or institution.

For M.Sc. Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science & Technology):

  • Applicants should have a B.Sc. degree with Life Sciences/ Chemistry/ B.A. Home Science/ B.Tech in allied subjects/ B.Pharm/ B.P.T/ M.L.T from a recognised institute or university.

For M.Sc. Bioinformatics:

  • The eligibility norms for this course is the same as that for M.Sc. Life Sciences or applicants are also eligible to apply if they have a B.Sc. degree with Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science from a recognised institute.

For M.Sc. Environmental Science:

  • In this programme, first preference is given to BEM applicants. Vacant seats are allotted to B.Sc. in Life Sciences or Physical Sciences/ B. Tech. or B. Pharm applicants.

For MCA:

  • Candidates should have a recognised degree with Mathematics at 10+2 level or Degree level or equivalent examination.

GSAT 2018 Exam Pattern

  • There are 60 multiple-choice questions in the GSAT 2018.

  • The question paper of GSAT 2018 has 3 Sections: A, B, and C.

GSAT 2018 Result

GSAT 2018 results are released after the entrance exam is successfully conducted for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses by the conducting authority. The results of GSAT 2018 are announced on the official website of the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management University. Candidates can download their GSAT 2018 score card once the result is declared. The GSAT 2018 score card mentions the marks obtained by the candidates in each section

Once GSAT 2018 result is released, counselling of GSAT 2018 is done on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the entrance exam. After the result of GSAT 2018 is declared, a merit list is prepared that includes the names of all the qualified candidates.

Note: GSAT 2018 counselling is done first for UG courses and then for the PG courses. Since each course has limited seats, it is better that candidates confirm their seats by paying their course fee.

  • Go to the official website of GITAM University, i.e. 

  • Click on the link that says 'GITAM Result 2018'. By clicking on the link, a new page will open.

  • Enter your Roll number, Application number and Date of Birth.

The GSAT answer key 2018 is released by GITAM University. After appearing for the test, candidates have to wait for the answer key to be published. Using the official GSAT answer key 2018, candidates can analyse how many questions they've answered correctly and how many are incorrect. Candidates can compare their responses with the one given in the GSAT 2018 answer key, and predict their probable scores. The final answer key of GSAT 2018 isreleased after the entrance exam is done.

Steps to Download GSAT Answer Key 2018

  • Visit the official website of GITAM University.

  • Click on the tab “GSAT 2018 result” and again click on the drop down menu and select “Download GSAT 2018 Answer Key”.

  • Click on the 'Continue' tab.

  • After that, enter your Roll number and Course and click on 'Submit' tab.

  • The answer key of GSAT 2018 will be appear on your screen.

  • Candidates can compare their answers with those given in the final answer key of GSAT.

  • Using the probable scores, candidates can get an idea for the further process of admission.

GSAT 2018 Cut-off

GSAT cut-off is the basis for preparing the merit list. The cut-off is the minimum marks required by the candidate in order to get selected for admission.

GSAT 2018 Counselling Process

The counselling of GITAM Science Admission Test (GSAT 2018) for admission into Information Technology and Science courses is organised by the GITAM University in the month of June.

Shortlisted candidates of GITAM Science Admission Test are not intimated regarding counselling through separate letters. They are supposed to check the list and the date, which is available on the official website. The GSAT merit list will be prepared separately for each course.

Procedure for GSAT Counselling

  • All the qualified candidates have to attend the counselling in person.

  • In case, the candidate is ill, his/her representative is allowed to come for the counselling with the authorisation letter signed by the candidate.

  • In the case of medical issues, the documents issued by competent government authorities are only accepted.

  • One parent/guardian is allowed to appear for counselling with the candidate.

  • Candidates have to pay a counselling fee at the reception of the counselling centre and this fee is non-refundable.

  • Test takers should keep the counselling fee receipt safely for further admissions rounds.

  • They should report to the counselling centre on the specified date and time.

  • If a candidate misses the counselling because of any reason, he/she can only attend the next round of counselling.

  • The admission fee should be paid within 24 hours of seat allotment and candidate should report to the allotted institute to ensure his/her admission process is complete.

How to Apply for GSAT 2018

GSAT application form 2018 can be downloaded from the official website of GITAM University. The GSAT 2018 application form is likely to be available from March 2018 and applicants can submit the GSAT 2018 until the last week of April, 2018.

Applicants can also obtain the GSAT 2018 application form by sending a letter to the Principal requesting for the application form. Applicants must mention their name with complete mailing address, along with a Demand Draft of INR 350 (inclusive of exam fee INR 300) drawn in favour of GITAM University payable at Visakhapatnam on any scheduled bank.


  • The request for GSAT 2018 application form via post is accepted until mid of April 2018.

  • Candidates applying for more than one exam have to submit a separate application along with the prescribed fee of INR 300 for each exam.

  • The application fee for 5- year Integrated M.Sc. Chemistry is INR 500/-.

  • In this step, applicants have to fill their basic details such as their Name, Name of their Parent /Guardian, Date of Birth etc.

  • As part of the GSAT 2018 application process, applicants are required to upload their Photograph and Signature as per the specifications.

Step 3: Payment of Application Fee

  • The GSAT 2018 application fee should be paid by Demand Draft in favour of GITAM University that is payable in all banks of Visakhapatnam.
  • Filled in applications along with attested copies of the required certificates and the prescribed fee of INR 300/- or INR 500/- (as the case may be) should reach the Principal, GITAM Institute of Science, GITAM, Rushikonda, Visakhapatnam-530 045, A.P., India.
