TANCET 2018 Exam Pattern

  • TANCET 2018 is scheduled to be conducted in the month of June 2018 in offline mode (pen and paper-based).
  • It consists of 100 MCQ (Multiple choice questions) questions.
  • The language of the paper is English.
  • The duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • TANCET for M. Tech/ ME / M. Plan. /M. Arch, the paper will be divided into 3 parts accounting for a total of 100 questions for 100 marks while MBA and MCA have been divided into one part of 100 questions for 100 marks.
  • The candidates will be awarded 1 mark for every correct answer, while 1/5 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • No marks will be deducted for not attempting questions.

TANCET 2018 Syllabus

Candidates who have to apply for TANCET 2018 should know the syllabus for different courses, which has been mentioned below.



M.E./ M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan

  • The question paper will contain three parts:
    • Part I will have questions from Engineering Mathematics, which will be common in all four courses.
    • Part II will include Basic Engineering and Science, which will also be common for all four courses.
    • Part III will have 2 groups which will be specialisation.


  • Identify the critical data and apply the data to business decisions from the given typical business situations.
  • Questions based on the passages in the comprehension
  • Solving mathematical problems at graduate or 10+2 level.
  • Test on determining the data sufficiency for answering the questions using given data and knowledge of maths and use of day to day facts.
  • Written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation, etc.

  • Questions on verbal activity or basic science may be asked.


1. What details will be mentioned on the Admit Card?

The admit card will contain the following details: Name of the candidate, Test Date, Test City & Centre address User ID / Registration Number PWD/DA status.

2. Will I get sheets/papers for rough work/calculations etc. for TANCET?

Yes, but no electronic devices are allowed in the examination hall/room.

3. Will there be any breaks during the exam?

No, there will be no scheduled breaks during the test but candidates are allowed to go to the restroom by raising their hand to inform the test centre administrator.

4. What is the examination pattern of TANCET (M.E./ M.Tech./ M.Arch./M.Plan.)?

There are 3 parts to be answered in the question paper. Part 1 and Part 2 are mandatory; Part 3 allows a choice to the candidate to choose from the allotted 13 subjects.

5. Is it necessary to use the black ballpoint only?

Yes. You may use Blue Ballpoint pen also.
