VFX Course Entrance Exams in India

For UG and PG VFX courses, some colleges accept entrance exam scores or conduct institute-level entrance exams. However, no entrance exams are required for the diploma or certificate VFX courses. Below we have listed some of the popular entrance exams conducted for admission to VFX courses in India.

NID DAT 

NID DAT entrance exam is conducted by the National Institute of Design which stands for the National Institute of Design – Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT). The entrance exam comprises two parts. The first part is the prelims and the second is the main examination. The first stage is a pen-paper-based entrance test. Whereas the second part of the entrance exam is a studio-based test. Candidates will have to qualify in both rounds to be admitted to the VFX & Animation course for undergraduates. 

BIT Entrance Test 

The Birla Institute of Technology conducts the BIT Entrance test for admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in VFX & Animation. The BIT Entrance Test is conducted online for 90 minutes. Candidates who qualify for the entrance exam will have to appear for a personal interview round. Candidates will be marked based on their performances in all the rounds. 40% weightage will be given to the entrance test, 50% for the class 12 performance and 10% for the personal interview round.

ITM IDM Entrance Test

The ITM IDM entrance test is a four-hour online entrance exam conducted by the ITM Group of institutions. The entrance exams are divided into two parts and each part is of two hours. The first stage of the ITM IDM Entrance Test is the Common Intelligence Test (CIT). Whereas the second is the Creative Aptitude Test (CAT). candidates will also have to appear for the personal interview rounds after the entrance test.

JMI Entrance Exam

The JMI entrance exam is conducted once a year to shortlist candidates for various UG and PG courses offered by the university, including an MA in Visual Effects and Animation (Self-Financed). The exam is conducted for a duration of 3 hours in offline (pen-and-paper format). The exam has two parts: Part A includes multiple-choice questions, Part B has Drawing skills, Part B (i) covers Visualization Intelligence, and Part B (ii) includes Visualization, Comprehension, and Writing Skills.

CUCET

CUCET is an entrance test conducted by Chandigarh University (CU) at the university level. The exam is held for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The test is conducted online, and it is remotely proctored. Candidates are required to have a laptop, webcam, and a stable internet connection. During the exam, an invigilator will be available for candidates on 'Live Chat' to guide and answer their queries.

SHIATS Entrance Exam

The Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHIATS) conducts an entrance exam for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This exam aims to evaluate the candidates' proficiency and aptitude in the relevant subjects. The SHIATS exam pattern includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs), where four options will be provided for candidates to select their answers.

The student will be able to Acquire knowledge of the elements and principles used in designing, attain skills to choose and implement vector and raster tools to create a visual design. The program helps develop competence to work in a team to execute visual design concepts utilizing the visualization, drawing, sketching, and painting skills, Design and execute sequential art and illustration in the form of comics and storyboards for use in films, games, and other related media.
