About B.Sc - Microbiology

Microbiology is a subject that comprises microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, etc. Microbiology course is structured to provide education regarding the properties of microorganisms and their impact on the human body. The programme also covers the diseases caused by different types of bacteria and viruses. Students who wish to pursue careers in research related to the evolution of microorganisms and their impact. 

Microbiologists are needed to conduct the research required to fight infectious diseases in the future. They must also have an in-depth understanding of the role of microbes in the environment and use them for food production, biotechnological and industrial purposes. the pathogenic potential of organisms that cause disease in humans is the main emphasis of this 3-year undergraduate programme. Students also learn about microbe biochemistry, physiology and genetics. 

B.Sc - Microbiology Eligibility Criteria

In order to pursue the B.Sc Microbiology course, the candidates will have to fulfil the given eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent from a recognized board.

  • The candidate must have studied Mathematics and Physics as the main subjects in class 12th along with one of the optional subjects as Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science.

  • The candidate must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 50% in the qualifying examination.
