About B.Tech - Petroleum Engineering

Petroleum engineers specialise in the study and discovery of natural reservoirs and petroleum deposits located deep inside the earth. The four-year programme covers the study of discovering and locating these reservoirs and deposits.

Petroleum engineers are expected to locate oil reservoirs and once these reservoirs are located, the study and examine the geological formation, nature of rock containing the reservoir with the help of other geologists to determine the drilling method required for extraction.

Designing and developing effective and cost-efficient technology to extract these petroleum resources is one of the elemental parts of the job of petroleum engineers. Also, they monitor the drilling process and ensure that the resources are extracted safely and stored properly.

With a rank of 39,562 the chances of getting CSE is quite slim. However, you can expect to get admission at NIT Puducherry at round 5 with this rank. You can also wait for CSAB counselling and cutoff to be released by the authorities. Till then you can check the List of NITs for JEE Main 2024 rank 25,000 to 50,000.
