PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) Course Overview

PGDM or Post Graduate Diploma in Management is a two-year business management programme offered by autonomous B-Schools recognised by AICTE that caters to industry requirements, and helps management aspirants develop relevant hard skills and soft skills to transform into industry-ready management professionals. It is a Diploma program and not a Degree because only Universities governed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) have the authority to award Degrees. In India, as well as overseas, both MBA and PGDM courses are regarded as having equal value when it comes to career prospects. Also, PGDM programs add value beyond the regular MBA curriculum, and that is what highly demanding recruiters look for. PGDM courses are industry oriented unlike MBA, which are more theoretical in nature. PGDM focus more on grooming programs, mentorship, and industry exposure. Also, the placement services are more rigorous with PGDM programs. Hence, a PGDM course from a recognized institute is usually good to pursue good salary options.

The duration of the PGDM course is 2 years. The PGDM admissions process and fees vary in different colleges. Several colleges conduct entrance examinations for admissions, whereas others offer admissions based on a 10+2 merit-based system. PGDM Admission is mostly based on entrance exams like MAT, CAT, XAT, and more.
