NMAT by GMAC is a University-level entrance examination, which is organized and conducted by the Graduate Management Aptitude Council (GMAC) to offer admission in various management courses. The exam selects candidates for admission to NMIMS University and 23 other B-schools across India. The computer-based test is held in a 75-day long window from October to December. Test takers are permitted to appear for 3 retakes of NMAT by GMAC. From the next academic year, NMAT scores will be valid for MBA courses abroad also.

NMAT by GMAC 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of NMAT by GMAC 2018 is prescribed by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). NMAT by GMAC 2018 eligibility criteria takes various factors into consideration such as nationality, age criteria, academic qualification, and marks required to apply for NMAT by GMAC 2018. The entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted between 4th October to 17th December 2018 and candidates qualifying NMAT by GMAC 2018 will be eligible for MBA admissions in NMIMS University and 23 other B-schools in India.

In order to appear for NMAT by GMAC 2018, international applicants are also eligible to apply. The detailed eligibility criteria for international candidates is mentioned below:

  • International applicants must have a full-time Bachelor degree (10+2+3/4) in any discipline from any recognized university and must have atleast 50% marks in aggregate in the first attempt.

  • The applicants willing to appear for NMAT by GMAC  must have valid a GMAT score of six hundred (600) and above. Furthermore, GMAT score for the last three years up to October 2018 will be taken into consideration.

  • For international candidates, all the admissions are subject to getting clearance from the candidate’s government (if required) and a student visa from the Indian Embassy in the candidate’s country.

  • International applicants having more than 2 years of post qualification experience are preferred.

NMAT by GMAC 2018 Exam Pattern

NMAT by GMAC 2018 exam pattern is prescribed by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The entrance exam is conducted in online mode for a duration of 2 hours. In the examination, each candidate gets a randomly generated test from a pool of questions, delivered one-at-a-time. Regardless of when and where the exam is administered, the number of questions, difficulty level of the paper, and the sectional time limit is predetermined, and it remains the same.

The NMAT by GMAC exam has three sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning (detailed NMAT by GMAC syllabus here). Each section is timed individually and test takers have to attempt questions of each section within the allotted time for the section. One cannot return to the previous section if he/she chooses to move to the next section or if the time runs out. Examination Mode:

  • The examination is held in online mode i.e computer-based mode.

  • It is compulsory for all applicants to sit on the assigned seat only.

  • The medium of the language of the examination is in English.

  • The time duration of NMAT by GMAC is 120 minutes (2 Hours).

Type of Questions:

  • The nature of questions in the examination is objective type. This means, all the questions in NMAT by GMAC 2018 will be of Multiple Choice types (MCQs), having 5 choices.

Total Number of Questions:

  • NMAT by GMAC comprises of 120 questions.

  • The question paper of NMAT by GMAC consists of 3 sections- Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Skills

  • All the three sections are individually timed, candidates can answer and review the answers within the allotted section time.

Sequence/Order of Sections:

  • One of the advantage in NMAT by GMAC 2018 exam pattern is that the candidate will have the freedom to choose the sequence of sections in the examination

  • Candidates can only proceed to the next section once they finish a section. If a candidate finishes a section beforehand, then also the remaining time cannot be used for other sections.

Marking Scheme:

  • For every correct answer, 3 marks are awarded to candidates.

  • Negative marking is not applicable in the exam.

  • No marks are deducted from the total score for leaving a question blank.

  • Candidates have to choose only one appropriate option for the entrance exam.

  • The organising authority, as well as the college, decides the qualifying marks for NMAT by GMAC.

The final NMAT by GMAC 2018 result will be released in the month of January 2019. The result will be published in the form of a scorecard. The exam scores will be published approximately 4 to 5 weeks after your exam date. To enroll in management Institutes accepting NMAT by GMAC scores, the selection process is as follows:

  • Candidates have to appear for the NMAT by GMAC test that is computer-based.

  • Based in the candidate’s performance in the entrance test, the result of NMAT by GMAC will be declared along with NMAT by GMAC cut-off scores.

  • On the basis of their scores, candidates are shortlisted for the pre-admission rounds. Here, the selected candidates need to participate in the Personal Interview (PI) and Case Discussion (CD) rounds.

  • In the Case Discussion (CD) round, shortlisted candidates will be divided into a group of 5-10 person and each group will be asked to discuss a case for 15-20 minutes.

  • Based on the performance in Case Discussion (CD) round, candidates will be selected for Personal Interview.

  • After the Case Discussion (CD) round final round in the selection procedure is personal Interview, it  is conducted to judge candidate’s knowledge of diverse topics, confidence, ability to counter pressure among other things.

  • Candidates will have to present all the original document of formal education and work experience (if any).

  • The final result will be issued after compilation of the candidate’s entrance test score, work experience, academic profile, and performance in Case Discussion (CD) and Personal Interview(PI) rounds.

NMAT by GMAC Conducting Body

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is the owner and administrator of the GMAT as well as NMAT by GMAC examinations. It is a global non-profit organisation involved in leading graduate business schools around the world. NMAT by GMAC is a national-level management entrance exam for admission to NMAT designated management colleges such as Alliance University, SRM University, BML Munjal University, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Ansal University, VIT University and ICFAI Business School (IBS).
