About NMAT 2022 (Registration Begins)

NMAT 2022 registration process has been initiated on August 1, 2022, by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). New institutes that will be accepting NMAT by GMAC scores in 2022 are S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai (Global Management Programme), Flame University (MBA, MBA in Communication Management), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab (MBA), and T.A. Pai Management Institute (all MBA programmes). The complete NMAT important dates 2022 will be released by GMAC soon on the official website. NMAT exam 2022 is likely to be conducted in a 75-day test window from the 2nd week of October to the last week of December 2022. NMAT exam is conducted by GMAC for admission to MBA courses offered by NMIMS and other NMAT score accepting colleges. An additional NMAT registration window was opened by GMAC from 03 January 2022 to 09 January 2022. NMAT 2022 Registration will begin with the release of the official notification tentatively in the first week of August 2022.

Number of Attempts in NMAT 2022: A maximum of three attempts for the NMAT exam will be allowed within the testing year. A gap of 15 days will be mandatory between two attempts for each candidate. If a candidate wishes to give all three attempts, GMAC has advised that they schedule their exam as per the following dates.


What is NMAT 2022?

NMAT 2022 is a popular management entrance examination, which is organized and conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The main aim of the NMAT is to provide aspiring candidates with the scope of admissions to the courses offered by leading MBA colleges in India such as VIT Vellore, SPJIMR Mumbai (PGMPW), XIM Bhubaneswar, NMIMS Mumbai and many more. NMAT is conducted once a year, and the candidates aspiring to appear in it can apply for the examination from August to November. The entrance is conducted over a period of 88 days. Aspirants also get a scope to choose their suitable date, time and venue to appear in the examination. Candidates who clear NMAT 2022 are not only eligible for admission at NMIMS but also at 30 B-Schools in India that consider NMAT score for admission to the postgraduate management courses. NMAT 2022 score is also accepted by top B-Schools across 11 countries. The computer-based test is held in a 75-day long window from October to December. Test takers are permitted to appear for 3 retakes of NMAT. From this academic year, NMAT scores will be valid for MBA courses abroad also.

NMAT 2022: Key Changes in Exam

  • GMAC has introduced two testing modes - Online Proctored Exam from Home along with Center Based online Exam. It depends on the discretion of the candidates whether they will take the test either at a test center with social distancing protocols or take the online proctored exam from the comfort of their home.

  • NMAT 2022 has a longer testing window of 75 days.

  • NMAT has a long registration and application window of more than three months starting from August and going upto November 2022

  • NMAT 2022 has fewer questions with the same test duration, i.e. 120 minutes, or, 2 hours. NMAT 2022 consists of 108 questions instead of 120 questions earlier.

  • All the 3 sections in NMAT 2022 have equal weightage.

  • There will no negative marking in NMAT question paper

  • Candidates can avail themselves of the facility of instant score preview and official score card within 48 hours of the exam. Candidates will be notified once the Scorecard is available for download. The scorecards can be downloaded till March 31, 2023. 

NMAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria

It is essential for each NMAT 2022 aspirant to be aware of the NMAT Eligibility Criteria before paying the fees for the NMAT Exam. Only those students who fulfill the eligibility criteria will be allowed to attempt the NMAT 2022 Exam.

The eligibility criteria of NMAT 2022 have been provided below:

  • Academic Qualificaforon: 

  1. Students should have completed their graduation under 10+2+3 or four years of education pattern from any stream from a UGC/AICTE recognized institute or equivalent.

  2. Candidates who are awaiting results or are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply for NMAT 2022. 

  3. Admission is granted on a provisional basis until the graduation mark sheet and certificate of the qualifying examination are submitted. 

  • Minimum Aggregate: Candidates should have scored at least 50% in their graduation to be eligible for NMAT.

  • Nationality: There are no nationality criteria for NMAT

  • Age Limit: There is no age limit barrier for NMAT

  • Professional Qualification: Work Experience is not mandatory

  • Maximum Attempts: 3 times, i.e One examination attempt and two retakes 

NMAT 2022 Registration Process

The various levels of NMAT 2022 registration process that the candidates must understand before applying for the examination have been mentioned below:

  • Step 1: Visit the NMAT official website and create an account using a valid email ID and other personal credentials.

  • Step 2: Open your email account and click on the verification link received by GMAC and sign up successfully for NMAT 2021.

  • Step 3: Enter your personal credentials, academic credentials, work experience details, choice of MBA courses of various colleges accepting NMAT scores (You can select up to five courses and b-schools), preference of test cities and ID number i.e Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License, etc.

  • Step 4: Scan and upload your photograph and digital signature as per the resolution (Max 1 MB) and the format (JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF) specified by GMAC. 

  • Step 5: Save and submit all the above-mentioned information and proceed to payment. The application fee is INR 2,300 (excluding GST). After submitting the fees, you would get your "NMAT ID". Take a printout for future reference. 

  • Step 6: GMAC will send a notification for scheduling your exam, booking your slot and downloading your hall ticket. The same will be reflected on your NMAT dashboard.

NMAT 2022 Application Process

Filling out the NMAT 2022 registration form application is the very first stage in the admissions process. Applicants must complete the NMAT online application within the given timeframe. NMAT 2022 admit cards are only provided to aspirants who complete the registration process. The NMAT 2022 enrollment system is performed online, and candidates must generate a login ID and password to finish the process. Applicants must pay INR 2,300 (excluding GST) for the application payment and exam planning. The payment can be made online with a bank transfer, a master card, a mobile wallet, or another method.


The rescheduling of the test is facilitated in the student account after a successful registration. To reschedule the NMAT 2022 exam, applicants have to apply for the NMAT examination rescheduling option within 72 hours of the examination date and timeline. The same applicant screen can also be used to accomplish NMAT rescheduling stages. The fee for a redo is INR 2,300, and the fee for a schedule change is INR 1,200.

NMAT 2022 Exam Scheduling

The admissions for NMAT are done by the clearance of GMAC. Post completion of the registration process, the scheduling for the exam can be done. With the help of the exam scheduling option, a specific date and city need to be updated by the candidate to proceed further. Scheduling is the only process by which students will be allowed to take the exam. It can be done from the dashboard of the NMAT login.

NMAT 2022 Conducting Body

The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is the owner and administrator of the GMAT as well as NMAT exams. It is a global non-profit organization involved in leading graduate business schools around the world. NMAT is a national-level management entrance exam for admission to NMAT designated management colleges such as Alliance University, SRM University, BML Munjal University, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Ansal University, VIT University, and ICFAI Business School (IBS).

NMAT 2022 Scores

Candidates taking the NMAT 2022 exam will receive their score card with scaled score for the sections and total within 48 hours of giving the exam. Candidates will be notified by email once their score card is ready for download.
Scaled scores: Questions in the NMAT exam are selected from the question pool for each examinee based on his or her performance on the questions previously answered. The questions a candidate receives are targeted at his or her ability level; therefore, a high- scoring candidate generally receives a more difficult sample of questions than a low-scoring candidate. The NMAT exam is scored by first obtaining the candidate’s final ability estimate based on the probabilistic model approach of modern exam theory, and then transformed to a scaled score ranging from 12 to 120.

NMAT 2022 Rescheduling and Retake

Candidates will be allowed to take the NMAT 2022 exam a maximum of three times. This includes the first attempt plus a maximum of two retake attempts. No shows are considered attempts. The retake registration option will be enabled in the dashboard after the exam date. Candidates need to register for the retake by simply clicking on the Retake section, selecting the exam mode and paying the retake fees. The retake can be scheduled after the completion of a scheduled attempt and the retake exam can only be taken after a gap of 15 days from the previous attempt. Candidates can book a retake only after taking the previous attempt

Retake attempts are booked on first cum first basis and subject to seat availability on the scheduled date and slot. Rescheduling of NMAT exam is also available upto 72 hours prior to the original NMAT exam date. Also, you will be required to pay the retake fees per attempt, which is Rs 2300/-

NMAT 2022 Cut Off

NMAT 2022 Cut Off marks are different for every NMAT participating institute depending on the difficulty level of the exam, the vacancies in the course and average performance by the students. The NMAT 2022 cut offs in top MBA colleges in India like NMIMS, XIMB, K J Somaiya, VIT among others are significantly high in the range of 92-96 percentile. NMAT Cutoff marks range from 150 to 200, and certain institutes will give preference to sectional cutoffs in addition to the overall NMAT Cutoff. NMIMS Bangalore requires a normalised score of 200, which is approximately 91.1%, but NMIMS Mumbai requires a score of 208 and a percentile of 94%. NMAT final cut off marks can be either released in the form of NMAT score or NMAT percentile. 

Issue of Admit Card: NMAT 2022

Admit card is to be downloaded by the students who have already completed their registration process in addition to the submission of the registration fee. They can also book the exam slot of their choice. Candidates can download their admit cards now until the day of the entrance examination. 

GMAC will release the NMAT Admit card 2022 24 hours after the successful registration and completion of payment of NMAT exam fee. The NMAT 2022 Admit Card is a document that contains a candidate’s NMAT registration details and photograph. Candidates are required to carry and furnish the hard copy of their NMAT Admit Card 2022 along with your govt. How to Schedule NMAT 2022 Exam?

Candidates can schedule the NMAT 2022 Exam using the exam scheduling tab on the official website once the fee payment is received at GMAC's end. Candidates can schedule their test any time during the scheduling window, provided the same is at least 24 hours later from the time of scheduling. Here are the necessary steps to schedule your NMAT exam correctly:

  • Login to your NMAT account and visit your NMAT Dashboard

  • Go to the 'Schedule Exam' option that will be visible after successfully paying your exam fee.

  • Schedule your NMAT date and time using the activated feature

  • Choose your test mode i.e. either test centre based online test or remote proctored online test from home

  • Download the test hall ticket from your dashboard.

NMAT 2022 Result

Candidates can check the NMAT final result 2022 on the official website by logging in using their credentials. NMAT 2022 test-takers will be able to check their NMAT Scores and download the scorecards after 48 hours or 2 days of appearing in the exam. After the release of the NMAT result, candidates can check your NMAT Scorecard 2022 and NMAT percentile. Candidates can download the result card for future references. 

NMAT 2022 Official Marksheet

The official NMAT 2022 mark sheet will comprise two scores - an individual sectional scaled score and overall score and percentile of a candidate. Calculation of the scaled score is done before calculating the final percentile. The final percentile score is calculated based on the scaled score and it is updated in the official scorecard and sent to b-schools.

Selection Process: NMAT 2022

NMAT 2022 Selection Process is expected to begin after the declaration of NMAT cut offs in January/ February 2023. GMAC is not responsible for carrying out a centralized admission process. Every participating institute has its own selection process and admission criteria.

  • NMAT 2022 Selection Process will include GD-PI rounds. 

  • Candidates who clear the minimum sectional and overall cut offs will be shortlisted to appear for the GD-PI rounds.

  • After the conduction of the PI round, the final merit list will be prepared based on various parameters: NMAT 2022 score, NMAT GD-PI scores, work experience, past academic scores, and gender diversity.

  • The participating institute may also decide to conduct a WAT (Writing Ability Test) or Case Discussion (CD) round instead of the conventional GD round. 

  • The decision of final admission is based on the combined performance in NMAT online test and GD-PI round.
