How to Apply for CMAT 2019

While filling the CMAT application form, the applicants must enter the required details as well as upload all the necessary documents. Applicants must keep all the required documents ready before beginning the application process for CMAT examination. Before filling the CMAT application form, candidates must read the following instructions:

  • Check the CMAT eligibility criteria before you start filling the application form.
  • There should be no breakage of Internet during the CMAT registration process.
  • You should be ready with all the necessary information such as your qualification details which you have to enter while registering for the CMAT exam.
  • The photograph you upload should be absolutely clear and it should've been taken on a white background.
  • The scanned signature that you upload while registering should be scanned clearly and done on a white background.
  • You should use a valid Email-ID so that all the future communication about CMAT is done on the same ID.
  • You should share a valid mobile number so that all information via SMS can be sent to this number.
  • A valid Credit/Debit card should be used in case you want to pay the applicaton fee ONLINE.
  • You should print 3 copies of challan in case you have to pay CMAT registration fee in cash at the bank.

The details about various pre-required documents that the candidates must keep ready are given below:

  • Academic details
  • A valid mobile number
  • A valid e-mail ID
  • Scanned image of Signature of the candidate
  • Scanned image of Passport size photograph of the candidate
  • Details of credit or debit card (if the candidates wish to make online fee payment)

The specifications for scanned images are given below:

  • The passport size photograph that the candidates wish to scan must be clear with a white colour background.
  • The dimension of the photograph must be 140 x 160.
  • The scanned image must be less than 60 KB.
  • The signature must be clear and the background must be of white colour.
  • The dimension of the signature must be 60 x 90.
  • The scanned image of signature must be less than 30 KB.

Steps to Apply for CMAT 2019

For filling the CMAT 2019 application form, the candidates must visit the official website of CMAT. The application process of CMAT 2019 involves the following stages:

  • Registration
  • Payment of Application Fee
  • Filling & Confirming Application Form

Step-1: Self Registration

  • Firstly, visit the official website and click on 'New Registration' under 'Registration Info' section.  
  • You have to do Self Registration by adding some basic details.
  • You must ensure that the details entered on this Self Registration form are correct and you must verify it before you click on 'SUBMIT' button on the page.
  • Once you SUBMIT the page, you cannot edit any data entered on this page. A login password will be sent to you via E-mail and SMS following this process.
  • Once you register, you can wish to login to the registration portal whenever you want, as an' EXISTING USER'. You can login with the help of your e-mail ID. 

Step-2: Payment of Application Fee

You can make the payment in either of the two modes mentioned below:

Online Payment:

  • Payment by using Credit card/Debit card/Net Banking.
  • Once your payment is successfully done, you will receive a confirmation E-mail and SMS.
  • Once you have received the successful payment confirmation, you can proceed with the remaining part of the registration process.

Cash Payment in SBI bank:

  • You can select the option to pay by cash at any of the designated SBI bank branch.
  • You will see a challan on your screen with your details already filled in it. You need to take 3 printouts of this challan, fill in the details wherever required in all the copies.
  • Cash Deposit will be accepted only from the next day of your Challan generation.

Step-3: Confirmation of Application Submission

  • Once you have filled the complete form, you can once again check the complete data entered by clicking on 'VIEW/MODIFY' button.
  • Once you are sure that all the data entered is accurate, you will have to accept a declaration and click on 'I AGREE' and 'SUBMIT' buttons.
  • Your form will be finally submitted and there is no provision to change the data after the submission.
  • You can click on 'PREVIEW' button to view your filled form.
  • You should PRINT your filled form and keep a copy with you for future reference.


1. What is the fee for the test?

The fee for General/OBC candidates appearing for CMAT is Rs.1400 + Bank charges as applicable; whereas for Female /SC/ST/PWD category candidates fee is Rs.700 + Bank charges as applicable.
2. Where do I pay my fees?

Candidates appearing for the CMAT exam in India are required to pay registration fee either by Credit / Debit cards / Net banking or through Bank Challan at SBI Bank.
3. When and how do I register for CMAT January 2019?

Online registration for CMAT January 2019 will begin on 22nd October 2018. Detailed instructions for the online application and registration process will be available soon.

4. Can I use my coaching institute’s or a friend’s email address when registering for CMAT?

No, you need to have a valid and unique email address of your own, which you will be using at least for the next eight months.
5. Can I pay the fees through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque or Cash? Where do I pay my fees?

No. Fees cannot be paid through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque. It can be paid online or it can be paid as cash at any of the SBI branches. For making cash payment, you need to generate Challan through the portal and visit the nearest SBI bank on the next day of challan generation to pay the cash.

6. When will CMAT be held and can I choose a test city?

CMAT in India will be held on 27th January 2019. Yes, you can select up to 3 cities in India in the order of your preference. The first choice of city will be given due consideration and weightage. However, actual allotment as per order of choice will be subject to availability of the slot in that particular city.
7. From where can I get the list of test cities?

The list of test cities will be available on the official website soon.
8.  Can I change my preferred test city after I have submitted my form?

No data can be changed once the form is submitted.
9. After submission of CMAT registration fee, can I cancel my application and apply for a refund of fee?

Under no circumstances, cancellation of application and refund of fee will be allowed.
10. If I do not take my test, will I be eligible for a refund?

No. Your fees will not be refunded in case you do not appear for your test as per the scheduled location, date and time.
