How to Apply for CMAT 2019

The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is the examination conducted for the aspirants of management studies all over India. The qualifying marks of the examination will allow candidates to participate in the selection and admission procedure of the participating colleges of CMAT. The exam is to be conducted on 28th January 2019, at different designated centers of CMAT. The application process for the test began from 1st November 2018 and continued until 7th December 2018 (extended). Interested candidates must apply for CMAT within the date slot, following the correct steps and procedures.

It is important for candidates to understand the complete process of how to apply for CMAT 2019, and then start with the application procedure. While checking the complete application process, candidates are also advised to go through the CMAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria once. This will help candidates to check the eligibility of their candidature and then proceed with the registration process. As it is a national-level examination, candidates must look for all detailed information related to the examination and then apply for it with proper data.

The details to be filled in the CMAT application form consists of candidate’s name, educational qualifications of the candidate, parental Information, contact details, photographs, and scanned signature, etc. Candidates must carefully fill in the details with no mistakes and cross check everything before clicking on the 'Submit' button. Steps to Apply for CMAT 2019

For filling the CMAT 2019 application form, candidates must visit the official website of CMAT. The application process of CMAT 2019 involves the following stages:

  • Registration
  • Payment of Application Fee
  • Filling & Confirming Application Form

Step 1: Self Registration

  • Visit the official website of CMAT.

  • Click on 'New Registration' under 'Registration Info' section.

  • Register yourself by providing asked details.

  • Cross check the details entered in the Self Registration form and verify it before clicking on the 'Submit' button.

  • A login password will be sent to you via E-mail or SMS, after a successful submission of the registration details.

  • After successful registration, remember to check your registration by logging in.

  • You are now ready to login an get access to the CMAT 2019 Application Form.

Step 2: Payment of Application Fee

You can make the payment in either of the two modes mentioned below:

Online Payment:

  • Pay by using Credit card/Debit card/Net Banking.
  • Once your payment is successfully done, you will receive a confirmation E-mail and/or SMS.
  • After receiving the payment confirmation, proceed with the registration process.

Cash Payment in SBI Bank:

  • You can select the option to pay by cash at any of the designated SBI bank branches.
  • A challan on your screen with your details already filled in will appear on your screen. Take 3 printouts of this challan, fill in the details wherever required in all the copies.
  • Cash deposit will be accepted only from the next day of your Challan generation.

Registration Fee for CMAT 2019

  • Rs. 1400 (+bank charges) for the candidates of General and OBC Categories.
  • The registration fee for Female candidates and ST/SC candidates is Rs.700 + Bank charges. 

Step 3: Confirmation of Application Submission

  • Once you have filled in the complete form, you can cross-check the data entered by clicking on the 'View/Modify' button.
  • After cross-checking the entered details, go on to the declaration and click on 'I Agree' and 'Submit' buttons.
  • Your form will be finally submitted and there is no provision to change the data after the submission.
  • See the filled in form by clicking on the 'Preview' button.
  • Print the filled form and keep a copy for future reference.

Essentials Required for Filling CMAT Form

The details about various pre-required documents and other essentials that the candidates must keep ready are given below:

  • 10th and 12th board mark sheets
  • Marksheet of Bachelor Degree
  • Additional Educational Certificates (Workshop/Internship/Short-Term Courses)
  • A valid mobile number
  • A valid e-mail ID
  • Scanned image of Signature of the candidate
  • Scanned image of Passport size photograph of the candidate
  • Details of credit or debit card (if the candidates wish to make online fee payment)

The specifications for scanned images are given below:

  • The passport size photograph that the candidates wish to scan must be clear with a white colour background.
  • The dimension of the photograph must be 140 x 160.
  • The scanned image must be equal to or less than 60 KB.
  • The signature must be clear and the background must be of white colour.
  • The dimension of the signature must be 60 x 90.
  • The scanned image of the signature must be equal to or less than 30 KB.

Important Instructions

While filling the CMAT application form, the applicants must enter the required details as well as upload all the necessary documents. Applicants must keep all the required documents ready before beginning the application process for CMAT examination. Before filling the CMAT application form, candidates must read the following instructions:

  • Check the CMAT eligibility criteria before you start filling the application form.
  • There should be no Internet disturbance during the CMAT registration process.
  • Keep your essential documents ready before starting the registration process. 
  • The photograph uploaded should be clear and it should have been taken on a white background.
  • The scanned signature should be clear and readable. The signature must preferably be done on a white background or a white paper.
  • Use a valid Email-ID, so that, all the future communication about CMAT is done on the same ID.
  • Share a valid mobile number so that all information via SMS can be sent to this number.
  • A valid Credit/Debit card should be used in case you want to pay the application fee through online mode.
  • Print at least 3 copies of challan in case you have to pay CMAT registration fee in cash at the bank.


1. What is the fee for the test?

The fee for General/OBC candidates appearing for CMAT is Rs.1400 + Bank charges as applicable; whereas for Female /SC/ST/PWD category candidates fee is Rs.700 + Bank charges as applicable.
2. Where do I pay my fees?

Candidates appearing for the CMAT exam in India are required to pay registration fee either by Credit / Debit cards / Net banking or through Bank Challan at SBI Bank.
3. When and how do I register for CMAT January 2019?

Online registration for CMAT January 2019 will begin on 1st November 2018. Detailed instructions for the online application and registration process will be available soon.

4. Can I use my coaching institute’s or a friend’s email address when registering for CMAT?

No, you need to have a valid and unique email address of your own, which you will be using at least for the next eight months.
5. Can I pay the fees through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque or Cash? Where do I pay my fees?

No. Fees cannot be paid through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque. It can be paid online or it can be paid as cash at any of the SBI branches. For making a cash payment, you need to generate Challan through the portal and visit the nearest SBI bank on the next day of challan generation to pay the cash.

6. When will CMAT be held and can I choose a test city?

CMAT in India will be held on 28th January 2019. Yes, you can select up to 3 cities in India in the order of your preference. The first choice of city will be given due consideration and weightage. However, actual allotment as per order of choice will be subject to availability of the slot in that particular city.
7. From where can I get the list of test cities?

The list of test cities will be available on the official website soon.
8.  Can I change my preferred test city after I have submitted my form?

No data can be changed once the form is submitted.
9. After submission of CMAT registration fee, can I cancel my application and apply for a refund of fee?

Under no circumstances, cancellation of application and refund of fee will be allowed.
10. If I do not take my test, will I be eligible for a refund?

No. Your fees will not be refunded in case you do not appear for your test as per the scheduled location, date and time.
