The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission has released the CGPSC exam pattern 2025 for Prelims and Mains exams. The CGPSC Prelims exam pattern is objective, and the CGPSC Mains paper pattern is descriptive in nature.

The exam pattern for CGPSC 2026 was released by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission along with the official notification for the CGPSC SSE (State Services Exam) 2026 examination on February 22, 2026.
According to the CGPSC exam pattern 2026, the CGPSC Prelims is an objective-type examination, and the CGPSC Mains is a descriptive examination. The CGPSC Prelims examination consists of 2 objective papers, and the CGPSC Mains exam pattern consists of 7 descriptive papers. Based on the marks secured by students in the Mains examination, students will be shortlisted further for the interview/personality assessment round.
The CGPSC conducts the State Services Examination (SSE) annually to recruit students for various government jobs under the Chhattisgarh State Government. Students appearing for the CGPSC 2026 examination will be assessed based on their knowledge and aptitude. Students are required to undergo the Prelims, Mains, and Interview/Personality Round Test as a part of the CGPSC 2026 selection process.
Students appearing for the CGPSC exam must have a thorough understanding of the CGPSC exam pattern and CGPSC 2026 syllabus. The exam pattern of CGPSC Prelims 2026 consists of 2 objective-type papers. The students must note that the CGPSC Prelims exam is divided into Paper I & II. The CGPSC Prelims Paper I is the General Studies Paper, and Paper II is the Aptitude Test. Both papers are of 200 marks each, lasting for 2 hours. Students are required to appear for both of these compulsory examinations.
While the Paper I exam takes place in the Morning session (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM), the Paper II exam takes place in the afternoon session, i.e., 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The CGPSC Prelims Paper I is not qualifying. However, students are required to clear the CGPSC Paper II examination to be selected for the next round. Students who clear the CGPSC Prelims examination are then further selected for the CGPSC Mains examination. The CGPSC Mains 2026 examination is scheduled from May 16 to May 19, 2026. The CGPSC Mains examination is descriptive in nature. Students are required to give 7 descriptive papers as part of the CGPSC Mains exam pattern. Students who score marks as per the cutoff marks specified by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission will be selected further for the CGPSC Interview/Personality Round Test. The total marks for the CGPSC Personal Interview will be 100 marks. Once the interview round has been conducted, the final merit list will be declared based on the marks obtained by students in the CGPSC Mains and Interview stages.

The total marks of the CGPSC Personal Interview Round are 150 marks.
To sit for the CGPSC Interview Round, candidates from the General category are required to score at least 462 marks out of 1400 (33% marks) to be eligible for the Personal Interview Round. As for the candidates who belong to the Reserved categories, they are required to score at least 322 marks out of 1400 (23% marks) to pass the CGPSC Mains examination.
