CUSAT CAT Exam Pattern 2020

CUSAT CAT 2020 Exam Pattern will be set by Cochin University of Science & Technology for various programmes including B.Tech, B.Com, MA, MCA, M.Sc, LLB and Doctorate Degree etc. CUSAT CAT 2020 will be organised in the online mode on April 18 & 19, 2020. Below mentioned detailed is for only B.Tech programmes. Apart from B. Tech Programme, CUSAT CAT is also conducted for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes such as B. Voc Business, M Sc.(5 years integrated), Law programmes, MBA, MCA, M.A programmes and M.Sc., MFSc and M. Voc programmes and M. Tech programmes.

Highlights of CUSAT CAT 2020 Exam Pattern

  • The examination will contain 250 objective type multiple choice questions based on class 12 syllabus.

  • Out of these 250 questions, 125 will be from Mathematics, 75 from Physics and 50 from Chemistry.

  • The examination will be held for 3 hours.

  • The medium of the question paper is in the English language.

  • There will be a set of questions to be asked about the various topics mentioned in each part of the syllabus.

  • Questions will be prepared according to the syllabus and equal weight will be given to all the topics.

  • Each question will be awarded 3 marks for the correct answer and for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.

  • There will be no deduction for unanswered questions.

Note: Candidates applying for the B.Tech programme will have to score a minimum of 10 marks in each subject to qualify for the ranking list. However, this requirement will not be applicable for those who come under the Kerala Scheduled Caste and Kerala Scheduled Tribe communities.

Marking Scheme of CUSAT CAT Exam Pattern 2020

Candidate will be awarded 3 marks for every correct response answer and 1 mark is deducted from the total marks for every incorrect response given by them. Candidates will have to score a minimum of 10 marks in each subject to qualify for the ranking list. this requirement will not be applicable for those who come under the Kerala Scheduled Caste and Kerala Scheduled Tribe communities. Candidate will not be given negative marking if he/she leaves the question unanswered. In a case of error in question, candidates are likely to be awarded full marks.

Can I use a calculator in the CUSAT CAT exam?

Use of electronic devices like mobile phone, calculator, iPod, etc. is not allowed in CUSAT CAT. Also, materials like log table, book, notebook, etc. should not be carried to the examination hall.

What is the nature of CUSAT CAT test?

It is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers.

Do I get any rough sheets for rough work?

No separate sheet will be given to candidates for rough work.

Is it necessary to have computer skills to be able to appear for the online exam of CUSAT CAT?

Yes, the candidate should have a basic familiarity with the use of computers like use of keyboard and mouse operation. It is the responsibility of the candidate to acquire these skills before taking the test.

What should I do as soon as I finish my test?

You should follow the instructions of the invigilator to save your test work once you are done with your exam.
