XAT 2021 Syllabus

Candidates who want to appear in the XAT entrance should be aware of the XAT 2021 syllabus. XAT is a national level entrance examination which is conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur with the aim of providing admissions to management programs at XLRI and other institutes accepting XAT score all across India. Around 75,000 students appear in this entrance with the aim of cracking it. To ace such an entrance, candidates are required to prepare a strategy. Knowing about the syllabus can be considered to be the first and the most pivotal step of the strategy. It is only after knowing about all the topics present in the syllabus can the candidates chalk out a time table for preparation. It is to be noted that the time table and the preparation which is to be set by the candidates should justify the syllabus of the entrance. 

The syllabus of XAT 2021 can be divided into four major sections, namely Quantitative Ability, Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making and General Knowledge. We have also provided the sub topics which fall under these portions in the section below. If the candidates are to ace the entrance, they should pay equal heed to prepare all the topics which have been incorporated in the syllabus. Avoiding any of the topic might lead to bad score and in turn not let the aspirants to achieve their dreams. 

The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2021 syllabus includes all the topics that management aspirants must cover in order to prepare for the exam. Though XLRI Jamshedpur, which is the conducting authority of the entrance do not prescribe any any official XAT syllabus. The topics which have been provided below by us is an estimation based on the question paper and the exam paper of XAT 2021.

It is also advisable for the candidates to go through the exam pattern and marking scheme of XAT 2021 before starting to prepare for the entrance. Being aware of the structure of an examination is pretty vital if the candidates want to do well in the examination.

XAT Syllabus for Quantitative Ability

  • In XAT exam, the Quantitative Ability(QA) & Data Interpretation (DI) section is counted as one part of the paper.

  • In this section, there are 27 questions and we advise you to solve each question in 2 minutes and 17 seconds.

  • The difficulty level of QA & DA section is high. Below is the list of topics from where the questions are asked:

XAT Syllabus for Essay Writing

There is no defined syllabus for the Essay Writing section. During the XAT examination, candidates have to write an essay on the given topic. The topics are usually based on the current issues. Candidates are advised to take care of the grammatical rules and clarity of thought in essay writing.

XAT 2021 Syllabus - Key Changes

Certain changes have been made by the examination conducting in the Syllabus of XAT 2021 in order to keep up with the pace of changing times. We have provided the candidates who will appear in XAT 2021 with the changes made in the syllabus:

  • The Syllabus of XAT 2021 has been reduced to 4 sections or subjects instead of 5.

  • No subjective questions will be asked in the Essay Writing section of the question paper.

  • Earlier the question paper of XAT used to be divided into 2 parts. From 2021 all the sections of the entrance will be asked in a single part.

  • Not more than 100 questions will be asked in the question paper.

  • All the questions asked in the entrance will be of MCQ type.

  • There will be a scope of negative marking in 75 questions of the question paper.

  • The questions asked from the General Knowledge section will not have negative marking.
