Factors Determining GPAT Cutoff 2026

Several factors influence the cutoff for each given test. The authorities and colleges evaluate the aspects provided below while determining the GPAT qualifying marks:

  • Difficulty Level of the Test: The GPAT cutoff is largely determined by the exam's difficulty and level of detail. A very challenging test may have a lower cutoff score than a simpler one.
  • Students’ category: It is a common practice to classify students according to their reservation status or certain categories, such as General, OBC, SC, ST, etc. Based on the category, the GPAT cutoff score can change; reserved categories typically have lower cutoffs than the general group.
  • Number of Students attending the Actual Test in a Respective Year: The total number of students appearing for the test is one of the main factors that affects the GPAT cutoff scores. To ensure that only the best applicants are admitted, the cutoff may be raised if a large number of students receive high scores.
  • Seat Availability: Another aspect influencing the cutoff GPAT is the number of seats available at participating colleges. Cutoff scores are usually higher when there are fewer seats available or when there is a lot of competition in order to select the most deserving students.
  • Previous Years' Cutoff Trends: Previous years' exam cutoff scores provide valuable insights into competition and overall performance. To set a standard for the cutoff points for the present year, the examination authorities take these tendencies into account. They may change the cutoffs after taking into account prior performance and any significant changes in the exam format.
