CMAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

CMAT 2023 eligibility criteria are defined as the minimum requirements that a candidate must meet in order to be eligible to take the CMAT exam. The eligibility criteria for CMAT 2023 is prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). CMAT is a gateway for management aspirants to get admission into MBA and PGDM programmes offered at AICTE-approved B-Schools across India.

Before a candidate prepares to fill out the CMAT application form, he/she must check the minimum eligibility criteria to appear for the CMAT 2023 entrance exam. The candidate's application form will not be accepted if he/she fails to meet the eligibility criteria of CMAT 2023. CMAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria Overview

The CMAT 2023 eligibility criteria is as follows -

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

  • There is no age limit for CMAT 2023.

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline (10+2+3/4 years) from a recognised university.

  • Final year students of graduate programmes whose results will be declared before the commencement of admission for the next academic session can also apply for the CMAT online exam.

CMAT 2023 Detailed Eligibility Criteria

The details of the CMAT eligibility criteria 2023 are given below.

  • There is no maximum age limit criteria to appear in CMAT 2023.

  • The aspirants must possess a graduation degree recognised by AICTE/ UGC/ Government of India.

  • Aspirants with a minimum percentage of marks in their Bachelor’s degree will be eligible to apply for CMAT 2023.

  • CS/CA/ICWA or any other professional degree holders with a minimum requisite percentage are also eligible for the CMAT exam according to the updated CMAT 2023 eligibility criteria.

  • Aspirants pursuing their final year of Bachelor’s degree study with the minimum requisite percentage can also apply for CMAT 2023.

  • Every Institution/University has its own percentage calculating mechanism to calculate the percentage of marks scored by the CMAT 2023 aspirants.

  • CGPA/Grade marks conversion to percentage scores will be carried out in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the respective Institution/University which should also sync with the CMAT eligibility criteria for the year 2023.

  • In case of any Institution/University does not have a working mechanism of converting the CGPA/Grade scores into percentage scores, then the conversion would be done according to the CMAT 2023 eligibility norms, which are - 

    • Divide the CGPA/Grade scores obtained by the aspirants by the maximum CGPA/Grade Scores

    • Then multiply the result by 100.

  • The aspirants must understand that to be shortlisted by the B-Schools, mere fulfilment of the eligibility criteria for CMAT 2023 will not be enough.

  • From the beginning till the end of the CMAT 2023 selection process, the candidates must have a valid email address and working cellular connection for the smooth transfer of any information regarding the CMAT 2023 entrance exam.

  • A graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university is a must for candidates applying for the exam.

  • The minimum qualifying percentage in UG degree for General Category candidates is 50%.

  • The minimum qualifying percentage in UG degree for Reserved Category candidates is 45%.

Executive PGDM

  • Graduate from any discipline.

  • The candidate must have an average work experience of five years (supervisory/ managerial).

  • A minimum of 50% marks is required in UG degree for the candidates belonging to General category.

  • 45% of marks in UG degree is enough for the candidates from the Reserved category to register for CMAT 2023 examination.

Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM)

  • Desirous candidate with a graduation degree with 50% marks (General Category) and 45% marks (Reserved Category) in UG degree or Bachelor’s degree is required to register for the examination.

CMAT Exam Eligibility 2023 for General & NC-OBC Candidates

  • Candidates must have passed a bachelor's degree in any discipline from any recognised institute
  • Candidates who are appearing for the final year of Graduation may also apply for CMAT 2023. Those candidates will be provided with provisional admission only if they submit the certificate or mark sheet before the date decided by their selected college.

CMAT Exam Eligibility 2023 for SC/ ST/ PwD Candidates

  • Candidates must have clear a bachelor's degree from any recognized college
  • Final year candidates may also apply for the CMAT examination.

CMAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria for MBA/ PGDM Admission

The CMAT eligibility criteria for MBA/ PGDM admission will vary from college to college. The general eligibility criteria of CMAT for PGDM/ MBA admission is provided below.

  • Candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in the bachelor's degree.
  • Candidates must have scored non-zero positive marks in CMAT 2023 exam.
  • Those who have completed a professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with at least 50% marks may also apply for admission on the basis of CMAT scores. 

CMAT 2023 Age Limit

There is no age limit for the CMAT examination. Candidates of any age group may apply for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).

Who is Not Eligible for CMAT 2023?

As mentioned above, the aspirants have to fulfill the minimum CMAT 2023 eligibility criteria in order to appear in the CMAT 2023 exam. Those aspirants will not be eligible for CMAT 2023 who:

  • Are not currently pursuing/ have not completed a Bachelor’s degree

  • Do not possess CS/CA/ICWA or any other professional degree 

  • Belong to the General category and have a percentage score of less than 50%

  • Belong to SC/ST/PwD category and have a percentage score of less than 45%

  • Possess a graduation degree which is not AICTE/UGC/Government of India recognised

Note:The applicants are requested to check if they fulfill all the CMAT 2023 eligibility criteria before applying for CMAT 2023 for admission into their dream MBA programme. In case an aspirant does not fulfill the CMAT 2023 eligibility criteria, then he/she will be debarred from sitting in the exam and the authority will not be liable to refund the CMAT 2023 application fee and exam fee. Therefore, all interested candidates are suggested to check their eligibility for CMAT 2023 before they proceed any further and deposit the CMAT 2023 exam and CMAT 2023 application fee.

CMAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Students with Disability

Students suffering conditions of disability with the effect of more than forty percent can avail the opportunity to seek admission and avail concessions under the PersonWithDisabability ( PWD) category. The list of categories of disability is provided below 

  • Blindness and low vision
  • Deafness or difficulty in hearing 
  • Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy
  • Autism, intellectual disability, specified learning disability, and mental illness
  • Persons suffering multiple disabilities from (1) to (4), Other ‘specified disabilities’ mentioned in RPwD Act 2016

CMAT registrations have been increasing by approx. 10,000 candidates every year. In 2019, 64,000+ candidates registered for CMAT, in 2020 the registrations were over 74,000. Going by these figures, around 85,000 to 90,000 students can be expected to register for CMAT 2020.
