CMAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria are defined as the minimum requirements that a candidate must fulfil in order to be eligible to take the CMAT exam. The eligibility criteria for CMAT 2021 is prescribed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). CMAT is a gateway for management aspirants to get admission into MBA and PGDM programmes offered at AICTE-approved B-Schools across India and to ensure a smooth passage into the CMAT 2021 participating colleges, the aspirants must fulfil all the CMAT 2021 eligibility norms laid down by NTA. From 2021 onwards, the CMAT exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Prior to 2021, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) had the responsibility of conducting the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).

Before a candidate prepares to fill the CMAT application form, he/she must check the minimum eligibility criteria to appear for the CMAT 2021 entrance exam. The candidate's application form will not be accepted if he/she fails to meet the eligibility criteria of CMAT 2021. 

CMAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Details related to the CMAT 2021 eligibility norms are elaborated below.

  • The candidate has to be an Indian citizen.

  • There is no age restriction to take CMAT 2021.

  • Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline in the 10+2+3 format from any recognised university.

  • Final year students of graduate programmes (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before the commencement of admission for the next academic session can also apply for the CMAT online exam.

Course-Wise CMAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university is a must for candidates applying for the exam.
  • The minimum qualifying percentage in UG degree for General Category candidates is 50%.

Executive PGDM
  • Graduate from any discipline.
  • The candidate must have an average work experience of five years (supervisory/ managerial).
  • A minimum of 50% marks is required in UG degree for the candidates belonging to General category.
  • 45% of marks in UG degree is enough for the candidates from the Reserved category to register for CMAT 2021 examination.
Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM)
  • Desirous candidate with a graduation degree with 50% marks (General Category) and 45% marks (Reserved Category) in UG degree or Bachelor’s degree is required to register for the examination.

CMAT Exam Eligibility 2021 for General & NC-OBC Candidates

  • Candidates must have passed a bachelor's degree in any discipline from any recognised institute
  • Candidates who are appearing for the final year of Graduation may also apply for CMAT 2021. Those candidates will be provided with provisional admission only if they submit the certificate or mark sheet before the date decided by their selected college.

CMAT Exam Eligibility 2021 for SC/ ST/ PwD Candidates

  • Candidates must have clear a bachelor's degree from any recognised college
  • Final year candidates may also apply for CMAT examination.

CMAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria for MBA/ PGDM Admission

The CMAT eligibility criteria for MBA/ PGDM admission will vary from college to college. The general eligibility criteria of CMAT for PGDM/ MBA admission is provided below.

  • Candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in the bachelor's degree
  • Candidates must have scored non-zero positive marks in CMAT 2021 exam
  • Those who have completed a professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with at least 50% marks may also apply for admission on the basis of CMAT scores. 

CMAT 2021 Age Limit

There is no age limit for the CMAT examination. Candidates of any age group may apply for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).

CMAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria: Highlights

Here are some important highlights of the CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria which the CMAT 2021 aspirants must be aware of:

  • According to the latest CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria, the maximum age limit to appear in the CMAT 2021 exam has been scrapped

  • The aspirants must possess a graduation degree which should be recognised by either of AICTE, UGC or Government of India as mentioned in the eligibility criteria for CMAT 2021

  • Aspirants with a minimum percentage of marks in their Bachelor’s degree will be eligible to apply for CMAT 2021

  • CS/CA/ICWA or any other professional degree holders with a minimum requisite percentage are also eligible for CMAT 2021 according to the updated CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria

  • Aspirants pursuing their final year Bachelor’s degree study with the minimum requisite percentage can also apply for CMAT 2021

  • Every Institution/University has its own percentage calculating mechanism to calculate the percentage of marks scored by the CMAT 2021 aspirants

  • CGPA/Grade marks conversion to percentage scores will be carried out in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the respective Institution/University which should also sync with the CMAT eligibility criteria for the year 2021

  • In case of any Institution/University does not have a working mechanism of converting the CGPA/Grade scores into percentage scores, then the conversion would be done according to the CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria, which is, dividing the CGPA/Grade scores obtained by the aspirants by the maximum CGPA/Grade Scores and then multiplying the same with 100

  • The aspirants must understand that to be shortlisted by the B-Schools, mere fulfilment of the eligibility criteria for CMAT 2021 will not be enough

  • From the beginning till the end of the CMAT 2021 selection process, the candidates must have a valid email address and working cellular connection for the smooth transfer of any information regarding the CMAT 2021 entrance exam.

Who is Not Eligible for CMAT 2021?

As mentioned above, the aspirants have to fulfil the minimum CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria in order to appear in the CMAT 2021 exam. Those aspirants will not be eligible for CMAT 2021 who:

  • Are not currently pursuing/ have not completed a Bachelor’s degree

  • Do not possess CS/CA/ICWA or any other professional degree 

  • Belong to the General category and have a percentage score of less than 50%

  • Belong to SC/ST/PwD category and have a percentage score of less than 45%

  • Possess a graduation degree which is not AICTE/UGC/Government of India recognised

Note:The applicants are requested to check if they fulfil all the CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria before applying for CMAT 2021 for admission into their dream MBA programme. In case an aspirant does not fulfil the CMAT 2021 eligibility criteria, then he/she will be debarred from sitting in the exam and the authority will not be liable to refund the CMAT 2021 application fee and exam fee.
