SSC CHSL 2019 Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL 2019 exam is divided into Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III. The candidates must note that there is a different exam pattern for three tiers and the same has been explained here in a simple manner for the test takers. The Tier-I exam of SSC CHSL is CBT (Computer-Based Test) while the Tier-II exam is Descriptive exam. On the other hand, the Tier-III of SSC CHSL is Skill Test/ Typing Test. Candidates need to clear all the stages of the respective exam to be eligible for the recruitment.

SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam Pattern (Computer-Based Test)

The candidates will have to note that all the questions asked in Tier I exam are MCQ/ Objective-based, and the questions will be in English and Hindi language (except Section 1). The Tier-I exam pattern of SSC CHSL 2019 exam is as follows -

Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill)

Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each attempt by the candidates.

Duration of the Exam: The duration of the SSC CGL Tier I exam is 1 Hour (60 Minutes). The candidates need to answer all the 100 questions within the specified duration.

SSC CHSL Tier II Exam Pattern (Descriptive Exam)

The Tier II exam of SSC CHSL 2019 is descriptive paper, and the same is conducted for 100 marks. Tier II exam is pen and paper-based, and the duration of the exam is one hour. The SSC CHSL Tier II exam 2019 includes the following topics -

  • There will be an Essay, and the candidates need to attempt the same in 200-250 words.
  • Similarly, there will be a Letter/ Application which the candidates need to attempt in 150-200 words.
  • The candidates can attempt the Tier II exam either in English or Hindi.
  • The candidates must also write the correct roll number in the required places.
  • The minimum qualifying mark in Tier II exam of SSC CHSL is 33%

Scheme of SSC CHSL Skill Test for Data Entry Operator

  • Skill Test is mandatory for the candidates applying for Data Entry Operator posts.
  • In order to clear the skill test, the candidates need to maintain a data entry speed of 8,000 Key Depressions per hour.
  • The assessment of the candidates shall be made as per the correct entry of words/ key depressions.
  • The duration of the Skill Test us 15 minutes, and the candidates will be provided with a printed matter in English (about 2000-2200 key depressions). The candidates need to enter the same on Computer allocated to them at the exam centre.
  • For the post of Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’, the candidates need to maintain a data entry speed of 12,000 Key Depressions per hour. The candidates will be provided a printed matter in English (about 3700-4000 key depressions). The duration of the exam is 15 minutes.

Scheme of SSC CHSL Typing Test for LDC/ JSA/ Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant

  • Firstly, the medium of typing test is Hindi or English. Candidates need to choose the language while filling the online application form only.
  • Candidates opting English as the language for Typing Test should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (30 for Hindi medium).
  • The assessment of the candidates is based on the accuracy of the typing on the computer. The candidates will be given a text passage, and the duration of the exam is 10 minutes.
