RIE CEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

RIE CEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria: The NCERT, in association with the participating RIEs, sets the RIE CEE eligibility criteria. Since multiple programmes are offered, the eligibility requirements vary from course to course. Therefore, applicants must carefully review the particulars relevant to their preferred course in advance.

For instance, to join the B.Ed programme, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s degree. Those with a BE/ B.Tech in Science or Mathematics are also eligible. For the M.Ed course, the applicants must possess any of the following qualifications: B.Ed, BA B.Ed, B.Sc B.Ed, B.Sc Ed, B.El Ed, D.El Ed with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts/ Science with the required minimum marks.

Through RIE CEE, candidates can gain admission to teaching courses such as the 2-Year B.Ed, B.Ed-M.Ed, M.Ed, BA B.Ed, B.Sc B.Ed, M.Sc M.Ed, MA Education Technology. These programmes are offered at Regional Institutes of Education located in Bhubaneswar, Ajmer, Mysore, Shillong, Bhopal, Nellore, SIASTE Haryana, among others. RIE CEE 2025 Stream-Wise Eligibility

The RIE CEE 2025 stream-wise eligibility is provided here:

B.Ed

  • For B.Ed application, candidates must have achieved a minimum of 50% marks in a Bachelor’s Degree and/ or in a Master’s Degree in Science/ Social Science/ Humanities. Applicants with a Bachelor's in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Mathematics or Science are also eligible to apply. For SC/ ST/ PwD aspirants, the least marks is 45%.
  • There is no barrier imposed based on the year of passing the last qualifying degree examination to apply for the B.Ed course via RIE CEE.

B.Sc + B.Ed

  • Candidates willing to apply for B.Sc B.Ed for the Physical Science group must have completed 10 + 2 or similar examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics(PCM).
  • Applicants seeking admission for the Biological Science group (CBZ), must have cleared 10 + 2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Biotechnology. (PCB) 
  • They must have achieved a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised institution/ Board. Candidates from the SC/ ST/ PwD must have secured at least 45% marks. The qualifying examination must be approved by the RIE’s affiliating universities. 
  • The year of passing the last qualifying examination must be 2023, 2024 or 2025.

BA + B.Ed

  • To be eligible for the BA B.Ed programme for RIE CEE 2025, the candidate must have passed a graduation or postgraduation or 12th level exam in any stream (Science, Commerce or Humanities) with a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for the reserved candidates) in the qualifying exam.
  • The candidates who passed the last qualifying examination in 2023, 2024, and 2025 can apply.
  • Those appearing for the final exam in class 12th can also apply for RIE CEE 2025 for BA BEd.

M.Sc Ed

  • To get eligible for M.Sc Ed in RIE CEE 2025, the candidate must have passed the 12th level exam with major subjects such as Physics and Mathematics and one of the optional subjects as Statistics/ Biology/ Biotechnology, from a recognised Institute/ Board.
  • The candidate must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for the reserved candidates) in the qualifying exam.
  • The candidates who passed 12th or are appearing for the final exam in 2025 can also apply for the test.
  • Also, please note that those who have completed 10+2 or equivalent in 2023/ 2024 can also apply.

M.Ed

  • Candidates applying for the M.Ed programme in RIE CEE 2025 must have passed a graduation-level degree in B.Ed./ B.A.Ed/ B.A.Ed/ B.Sc Ed/ B.El.Ed in any stream from a recognised Institute.
  • Those with a D.El.Ed and have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Arts/ Science with 50% marks in each can also apply.
  • The candidate must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for the reserved candidates) in the qualifying exam.
  • The year of passing the last qualifying examination is not applicable while applying for M.Ed via RIE CEE.

B.Ed-M.Ed

  • Candidates must have completed a postgraduate degree in Science/ Social Science/ Humanities from an approved institution with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
  • For SC/ ST/ PwD applicants, the least mark is 50%.
  • The applications to the B.Ed-M.Ed programme is open for all, irrespective of the year of passing the last qualifying examination.

MA Education Technology

  • Graduation in any stream/ discipline
  • The minimum mark required is 50% or a similar grade for the General Category.
  • For those who are from SC/ ST/ PwD, 5% relaxation is provided. Hence, the lowest mark accepted is 45%.
  • There is no bar to the passing year to apply for MA Education Technology via RIE CEE.

RIE CEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Domicile Requirements

While filling out the application form for RIE CEE, you are required to choose the appropriate State/ UT against which you are seeking admission. Also, as proof of eligibility for the concerned State/ UT, you have to produce any one of the necessary documents.

  • You must submit evidence of passing the qualifying examination from the State/ UT as given in the advertisement for RIE CEE 2025. The website address is to be furnished by EdCIL after the online application is ready.
  • If your parent/ legal guardian is an employee of the Central Government/ State Government/ Government of India undertaking/ Autonomous body, you have to attach the recent certificate related to the place of posting of the parent/ legal guardian in the respective UT/ State.
  • A domicile certificate from an authorised body of the relevant State/ UT.

RIE, Bhubaneswar: BA B.Ed, B.Sc B.Ed (PCM and CBZ Group), B.Ed and M.Ed

  • For BA BEd, BSc BEd, and MEd courses at RIE Bhubaneswar, those applying from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands are eligible.
  • For B.Ed course at RIE Bhubaneswar, only individuals from Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will be considered.

RIE Ajmer: B.Ed and M.Ed

  • For all the offered programmes at RIE Ajmer, those from the States/ Union Territories of Jammu and  Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh are qualified.

RIE, Mysuru: BA BEd, BSc B.Ed (PCM and CBZ Group), M.Sc Ed (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), B.Ed and M.Ed

  • For BA B.Ed, B.Sc B.Ed, B.Ed, and M.Ed programmes at RIE Mysuru, only those from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and the Union Territories of Puducherry and Lakshadweep are permitted to apply.
  • For M.Sc Ed (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) students from all States/ UTs are welcome to send their RIE CEE applications.

RIE Bhopal: B.Ed, B.Ed-M.Ed and M.Ed

  • For the B.Ed and M.Ed courses at RIE Bhopal, you will be considered for admission if you are from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Maharashtra, Goa, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
  • For B.Ed-M.Ed programme at RIE Bhopal, applicants from all States/ UTs can apply for.

NERIE Shillong: B.Ed

  • For the B.Ed programme at NERIE Shillong, only exam takers from Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura can apply for RIE CEE.

RIE Nellore: MA Education Technology

  • For MA Education Technology, applications are open to examinees from all States/ UTs

SIASTE Haryana: BA BEd and BSc BEd

RIE CEE 2025 Reservation Policy

According to the rules set by the Government of India, candidates who belong to certain categories are admitted based on the seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. Find out the reservation criteria from the table below. 

The candidates who are applying under the reservation quota will be considered for admission only based on the lists notified by the Government of India and the category certificate/ PwD certificate in the format approved by the Government of India and issued by the competent administration. OBC candidates have to attach a certificate from a competent authority stating that he/ she does not belong to Creamy Layer to be considered under the reserved category.
