GSET Exam 2025 Overview

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, has released the Gujarat State Eligibility Test exam date 2025. The GSET 2025 examination will be conducted on November 16, 2025, in an offline mode, across 11 exam centres in Gujarat. The GSET 2025 application form was released on August 18, 2025. The last date for the Gujarat SET 2025 registration was September 6, 2025. Students should visit the official website of the Gujarat State Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor @gujaratset.ac.in, to complete the registration process.

The GSET 2025 exam helps to determine the eligibility of Assistant Professors in universities/ colleges in Gujarat. Students must have scored at least 55% marks in a Master’s degree or an equivalent examination from a recognized institution under the UGC. The Gujarat SET 2025 exam duration will be 3 hours. The GSET 2025 exam will be conducted on the same day in two papers. Paper 1 will be held from 09:30 AM to 10:30 AM (1 hour), and Paper 2 will be conducted from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM (2 hours).

GSET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

All the candidates who wish to apply for GSET must fulfil the eligibility requirements set by the exam authority. The detailed eligibility requirements for GSET 2025 have been listed below:

Educational Qualification

  • The candidate must have passed a Master's degree in a relevant subject recognised by the UGC.
  • The candidates must have passed their PG degree in any subject, including Sciences, Humanities (including languages), Social Science, Computer Science, and applications.
  • The candidate must have acquired a minimum aggregate of 55% (50% for reserved candidates) in the qualifying exam.
  • Candidates who appeared for the final exams for their post-graduation degree last year but have their results awaited, OR candidates who are still appearing in the final year, can also apply for GSET.

Age Limit

There is no age limit prescribed for GSET 2025. That means candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements can apply for GSET regardless of their age.

Reservation Criteria

The exam board prescribes the following reservation policy concerning GSET eligibility criteria:

  • 5% relaxation will be provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and PWD categories regarding the required aggregate in the qualifying exam.
  • PhD degree holders who completed the Master's exam by September 19, 1991, must be eligible to get 5% of the total score for appearing on the GSET exam.

Important Instructions for GSET Eligibility

The candidates must keep in mind the following instructions related to the GSET eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates who are not domiciled in Gujarat will be considered general category candidates even if they belong to the reserved category.
  • Candidates need not send reservation certificates/ documents or the application printout to the Gujarat State Eligibility Test office to prove their eligibility.
  • Candidates who are applying through the reserved category must have a valid category certificate issued by the competent authority of Gujarat.

How to Fill the GSET Application Form 2025?

  • Go to the official website of GSET.
  • On the main page, click on the link to apply online.
  • Register yourself using your mobile number and email address. Ensure that the details you enter are correct, as you will get all the notifications for the exam on the same number.
  • Start filling out your form using all the important details, including your personal details, educational details, address, etc.
  • Upload the scanned image of the passport-size photograph and signature. The images should be in JPEG format and the size should not be more than 100kb.

GSET Exam Pattern 2025

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda sets the GSET 2025 exam pattern, Vadodara, for the candidates preparing for the entrance exam. The exam pattern of GSET 2025 includes the marking scheme, question types, the total duration of the paper, and the number of questions in the entrance examination. The written exam of GSET 2025 has 2 papers. Paper I contains 50 questions for 100 marks, and Paper II has 100 questions for 200 marks, which candidates will have to complete within a 3-hour duration. All the questions in the exam are of an objective type in nature.

GSET 2025 Marking Scheme

The GSET marking scheme for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 has been given below:

  • For each correct question, 2 marks will be awarded.
  • There is no negative marking. That means, for an incorrect answer, 0 marks will be given.
  • For an unattempted question, 0 marks will be provided.

GSET 2025 Cutoff

The GSET 2025 cutoff will be released for Papers 1 & 2 for the different categories: SC, ST, OBC, and general. The students who have scored up to the minimum qualifying cutoff for GSET 2025 will have their names on the merit list. The qualified candidates will be further called for counselling.     Mode of Selection for GSET 2025

    The selection process for GSET 2025 is as follows -

    • Only 6% of candidates who appear for the GSET exam shall be declared eligible for the award of a GSET certificate.
    • As per UGC rules, 6% of the slots available for Assistant Professorship in Gujarat are filled. The top 6% of candidates shall be declared eligible for the award of a GSET E-Certificate.

    Example 1: Let us assume that 260 candidates cleared GSET in English under the General category as per the cutoff specified, and the total number of slots available for the General category in English subject is 25. Simultaneously, the total number of candidates who cleared GSET in the General category is 1200. The selection of candidates is done as follows -

    Number of Candidates Cleared GSET in English under General Category (X), Total Slots Available for General Category (Divided by) Total Number of Candidates Cleared GSET Exam. The equation, as per Example 1, is as follows -

    260 X 25 (Divided by) 1200 = 5 (Which means Five Candidates will be awarded the GSET E-Certificate in English under the General Category)

    Example 2: Let us assume that 1800 candidates cleared GSET in Gujarati under the SC category as per the cutoff specified above, and the total number of slots available for the SC category in the Gujarat subject is 100. At the same time, the total number of candidates cleared the GSET is 2600. The selection of candidates is done as follows -

    Number of Candidates Cleared GSET in Gujarati under SC Category (X), Total Slots Available for SC (Divided by) Total Number of Candidates Cleared GSET Exam. The equation, as per Example 2, is as follows -

    1800 X 100 (Divided by) 2600 = 69 (Which means 69 candidates will be declared eligible for the GSET exam in the Gujarati subject).

    GSET 2025 E-Certificate

    After verifying the documents submitted by the candidates while filling out the GSET application form, the exam authority shall issue the GSET certificate to all the candidates who are declared ‘Pass’ as per the selection process mentioned above. The authority will issue an E-Certificate to all the candidates, and no offline certificate will be sent to candidates by post. The candidates need to download the GSET E-Certificate through its official website. The candidates must enter their registration number and date of birth to download the GSET E-Certificate.
