About IBPS SO 2018

IBPS (short for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) organises an entrance exam for the recruitment of qualified candidates to various posts of Specialist Officers in almost 20 Public Sector Banks. The examination of IBPS SO is conducted in three phases for all the eligible candidates – Preliminary exam, Mains, and Interview. All the candidates have to qualify all the three rounds of IBPS SO selection process to be shortlisted for the posts.

IBPS SO 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced the IBPS SO 2018 Eligibility Criteria. It is a determinant that can be defined as the conditions in terms of age limit, nationality, and academic qualification, which the candidates must fulfil before filling the application form. Any candidate who fails to fulfil the eligibility criteria will not be able to sit for the IBPS SO 2018 examination.

According to the defined eligibility criteria of IBPS SO 2018, candidates must prepare the set of required documents that are to be attached while submitting the application form of IBPS SO 2018. Candidates are also recommended to keep a soft copy and two sets of photocopies of all the attached original documents, as documents will be asked at all processes involved in the selection of Specialist Officers.

Age Limit:

IBPS has decided the upper and lower age limit for all the candidates as part of IBPS SO eligibility criteria. The age criteria under the IBPS SO 2018 eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Minimum: 20 years
  • Maximum: 30 years

A candidate should not have been born before 02.11.1987 and not after 01.11.1997.

Nationality:

A candidate should either:

  • Be an Indian citizen,
  • Or could be a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan or Tibetan Refugee,
  • Could be a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of settling permanently in India.
  • Could be a person of Indian origin who has migrated from East African countries of Kenya, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Academic Qualification:

IBPS will specify academic qualifications under the IBPS SO eligibility norms 2017 for all the candidates. Candidates are advised to examine the eligibility norms and make sure they fulfill each of them before filling the application form.

  • There will be negative marking for incorrect answer. One fourth or 0.25 will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

IBPS SO 2018 Result

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) SO Result is announced for all the 3 phases – Preliminary, Mains and Interview. The IBPS SO exam is conducted to recruit around candidates for the posts of Specialist Officers (SO) in various public sector banks as well as other participating organisations.

Candidates are required to qualify each level of the IBPS SO recruitment by obtaining the minimum qualifying marks decided by IBPS. The preliminary exam is a screening test and only the marks secured in the Mains examination are considered to shortlist candidates for the interview round and for preparing the final merit list. IBPS SO 2018 Selection Process

IBPS SO Selection Process comprises of all the phases that candidates have to clear for recruitment to the desired IBPS participating organisation. On the basis of their performance in the Preliminary exam, Mains exam and Interview process, candidates are shortlisted for the vacant posts in the Participating banks of IBPS.

IBPS SO Interview Process

Shortlisted candidates in the Main examination will subsequently be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Institute and coordinated by the Nodal Banks in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS. The interview will be held at the selection centers. The venue of centre, as well as schedule for an interview, will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. Candidates are required to download their interview call letters from the official website of IBPS.

  • The minimum qualifying marks in interview for general category candidates is 40% and for reserved category candidates is 35%.
  • The weightage of Online CWE (Main Exam) and interview will be 80:20 ratio respectively.
  • The combined final score of candidates will be based on the total score received by candidates in the online main examination of IBPS SO and Interview.
  • Interview score of the candidates who have failed to secure the minimum qualifying marks or otherwise will not have to go through any further selection process.

IBPS SO Provisional Allotment

The marks for provisional allotment in IBPS SO 2017 can be defined as the lowest marks that the test takers will have to obtain to be provisionally allotted in any one of the participating banks of IBPS SO. The IBPS SO Cut off for provisional allotment will be calculated out of 100 and after eliminating inter-SE-merit (ties) on the basis of date of birth.

1. What should I do if I loose the registration number and password?

You can check your phone and email for the registration number and password, which was sent after the successful submission of the application form. The exam conducting authority does not provide new registration number or password.

Candidates are advised to keep a track of our website for the announcement of application form and availability of the same on the official website of IBPS.

Before applying online:

  • Candidates should have scanned copies of their Image/photograph and signature ensuring that both the photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm) and signature follow the prescribed specifications.
  • Candidates should not sign in capital letter, as it will not be accepted.
  • Keep handy all the required documents/details to make the Online Payment of the requisite application fee.
  • Valid personal email address, which must be active until the entire recruitment process is completed. Candidates should not provide any other person's email ID.
  • If the candidates do not have the valid personal email address, they should make one before filling up of the IBPS SO 2017 application form.

Procedure for applying online:

Online Registration:

  • Go to the IBPS’ website (www.ibps.in)
  • Click on the Home Page to open the link "CWE Specialist Officers”.
  • Then, Click on the tab "APPLY ONLINE FOR CWE- Specialist Officers " to download the online application form.
  • Candidates will have to click on "New Registration" Tab for registering their application.
  • After providing basic information such as name and email address, a provisional registration number and password will be generated by the system and displayed on candidates' screens.
  • Candidate should note down the Provisional registration number and password. 
  • An email and SMS will also be sent indicating the provisional registration number and password.

Upload the Documents:

Candidates will be required to upload their photograph/image and signature as per the given specifications. 

Guidelines for scanning and uploading of Photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm) & Signature:
Photograph Image

  • Photograph must be a recent passport style colour picture.
  • Make sure that the picture is in colour, taken against a light-coloured, preferably white, background.
  • Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
  • If you have to use flash, ensure there’s no “red-eye” – If you wear glasses make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes can be clearly seen.
  • Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your face. – Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred).
  • Size of file should be between 20kb–50 kb – Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50kb. If the size of the file is more than 50 kb, then adjust the settings of the scanner such as the DPI resolution, no. of colours etc., during the process of scanning.

Signature Image

  • The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.
  • The signature must be signed only by the applicant and not by any other person.
  • The signature will be used to put on the Call Letter and wherever necessary. – If the Applicant’s signature on the answer script, at the time of the examination, does not match the signature on the Call Letter, the applicant will be disqualified.
  • Dimensions 140 x 60 pixels (preferred) – Size of file should be between 10kb – 20kb – Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 20kb – Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS shall NOT be accepted.

Payment of Fees:
Candidates must pay the required fees only through online mode:

  • The payment can be done by using Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets.
  • If online transactions have not been completed successfully, then the candidates are advised to re-enter with their provisional registration number and password and pay the application fees online.
  • Upon successful completion of the transaction, an e-receipt will be generated.
  • Candidates need to take a printout of the e-receipt and online application form. 
  • After submitting your payment information in the online application form, please wait for the intimation from the server,  to avoid double charges, do not press back or refresh tab.

Confirmation Page:

  • After completing the procedure of applying online including payment of fees, the candidate should take a printout of the system generated online application form, and make sure the details filled in are accurate and retain it along with Registration Number and Password for further process.
  • An email/ SMS with the Registration Number and Password generated on successful registration of the application will be sent to the candidate’s registered email address/ Mobile Number.
