There might be cases when two candidates will have equal scores in HPCET 2022. In those cases, Himachal Pradesh Technical University uses tie-breaking criteria that serve the purpose of selecting a candidate. The criteria are different for different courses. Candidates should check out the course-wise tie-breaking criteria mentioned below.
If the aggregate marks of two candidates are the same then the candidate with higher marks in Physics is given preference.
Candidates’ marks in Chemistry are considered for the criteria where both of them have the same marks in Physics as well.
For direct entry, candidates with higher age are considered.
If the aggregate marks of two candidates are the same, then the candidate with higher marks in Aptitude Section of the exam is given preference.
Marks of Mathematics Section are considered for the criteria where candidates have the same marks in Aptitude Section as well.
If none of the above criteria fits, the candidate with higher age is considered.
If two candidates have equal marks, the candidate with higher marks in the concerned subject is considered.
For direct entry, the candidate with higher age is considered for admission.
If two candidates have the same score in the test, the candidate with higher marks in Verbal Ability is preferred over others.
If two candidates have the same marks in Verbal Ability, then the candidate with higher marks in Quantitative Ability is considered for admission.
If neither of the above criteria works, then the candidate with higher marks in Data Interpretation is selected.
For direct entry, the candidate with higher age is considered for the admission.
