NEST Cutoff 2024 is released. The cutoff score will determine the list of students eligible for admission at top top-tier institutes in India- National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS). 

Every year, the overall and section-wise NEST cutoff vary depending on the level of the exam and the performance of students.

NEST detailed cutoff is declared to help students analyze their performance and the criteria on which the list of shortlisted students is displayed. The students selected through  NEST 2024 are enrolled for a 5 years Integrated M. Sc programme in Basic Science- Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

Factors Determining NEST Cutoff 2024

NEST Cutoff 2024 is not pre- defined. While one can predict the cutoff based on the level of NEST exam 2024, various other factors determine the final cutoff.

NEST Cutoff 2024: Detailed

NEST 2024 overall percentile scores and section-wise scores determine the cutoff for admission at NISER and CEBS. Here is the detail. 

Minimum Admissible Percentile (MAP): It is the percentile that the candidate needs to score to be eligible for the cutoff score. Here is the cutoff 

• General category: 95 or higher
• OBC: 90
• SC/ ST/ PH- 75

Section-Wise Minimum Admissible Score (SMAS): It is calculated section-wise. It is calculated as 20% of the average of the top 100 scores in each section. For example, if the top score in Physics is 548 out of 60, then the SMAS score would be 9.6.
