SET 2026 Counselling Process

SET Counselling Process 2026 is the final and most crucial stage of admission to various undergraduate programmes offered by the Symbiosis International (Deemed University). After the declaration of SET 2026 results, candidates who meet the cut-off criteria are shortlisted for the Personal Interaction (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT) rounds conducted by the respective Symbiosis institutes. The counselling process is decentralised, meaning each Symbiosis constituent college conducts its own selection procedure, schedule, merit list, and document verification process.

Candidates must register for PI-WAT, choose their preferred institute, upload the necessary paperwork, and show up in person or virtually for assessment during counseling. Candidates are evaluated by institutions based on factors including general awareness, logical reasoning, communication abilities, academic consistency, and general personality. Each institute publishes its final merit list based on a composite score that combines the SET score and PI-WAT performance after the PI-WAT rounds are over.

SET 2026 Counselling Highlights

They will be admitted to the college of their choice depending on their results in the Symbiosis Entrance Test 2026 and the PI-WAT. The SET test counselling timetable will be communicated to the candidates who are taking the exam.

• Personal Interview (PI): Applicants will be required to interview students. These individuals will be either industry or academic experts. General knowledge, social activities, scholastic and applicant-specific sectors of interest, effective communication, and an optimistic attitude will be covered in the SET 2026 PI.
• WAT or Written Ability Test: Applicants must complete a Picture Association Test (PAT) and write a brief essay on a theme assigned by an advisory group. Subjective discussions about the subject for SET 2026 WAT could also be questioned.
• Applicants for the Standby List or Dismissed List: Only applicants who decided to take the entrance exam and the PI-WAT will be considered for the overall merit, waiting list, or reject list.
• Applicants who have already written admissions tests such as JEE Main 2026 and are seeking admission in Engineering or Health Sciences do not need to apply for SET 2026. They can apply to the relevant educational establishment directly.

SET Detailed Counselling Process 2026

The counselling process generally involves two rounds: WAT (Written Ability Test) and PI (Personal Interview). Elaborated below is the information regarding both rounds. This year, WAT will be conducted in online mode after the respective tests. 

WAT (Written Ability Test)

Candidates are generally required to go through PAT (Picture Association Test) and attempt to write a short essay on the topics allotted by the panel of judges. Depending on the institute, the WAT could also include subjective-type questions and answers on the topic given. Symbiosis Centre of Media and Communication conducts a Studio Test along with PI and WAT.

PI (Personal Interaction/Personal Interview)

The candidate will have to go through an interview with a panel of experts. The panel might include members from the industry or academia. The question raised at the PI round will be covered from-

1. Provisional Admission Fee: The applicant must pay INR 1,000,000 as a provisional entrance fee via a Demand Draft made payable to 'Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune'.
2. Provisional Acceptance Letter: Following admission, the candidate must obtain the provisional acceptance letter from the Manager's office.

SET Admission Fee 2026

If the applicant decides to accept the assigned seat and affirms their enrollment, they must pay a provisional acceptance fee of INR 1,000,000. The applicant must make a Demand Draft billed to "Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune" in order to be considered. After acceptance is effective, applicants must pick up their provisional acceptance letter from the Director's office.
