TIFR GS 2026 Biology entrance exam, also known as the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences or JGEEBILS, tests basic science knowledge of students. For the Biology exam, you can also focus on your understanding of the subjects you’ve learned during your undergraduate studies. The questions are based on these basics, and you’ll find that a good grasp of your previous knowledge is enough.

TIFR Biology entrance exam, also known as JGEEBILS, tests basic science knowledge. The syllabus covers high school and undergraduate-level concepts in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. You don’t need to study any advanced or specialized topics beyond this.
TIFR offers degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computer Science, and Biology. Four disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Computer Science) generally prefer PhD candidates who are comfortable with maths. If you're aiming for a PhD in one of these subjects, it's important to have a good understanding of maths. For Biology, while the math requirements may not be as strict, biological research usually involves statistical analysis and theoretical modeling, which require a basic understanding of maths. We recommend brushing up on your math skills. You don't need to be an expert, but a decent grasp of undergraduate-level maths can make a big difference in your preparation.
