Documents Required for Filling UPSC CDS 2026 Application Form

Students must keep the following documents handy while filling out the CDS application form. Mentioned below is a list of documents required for the CDS exam registration process:

  • Class Xth certificate and mark sheet
  • Class XIth certificate and mark sheet
  • Graduation degree mark sheet (all semesters)
  • Mark sheet of all semesters (for final year students pursuing their degree)
  • Scanned signature and photograph (photo should not be older than 3 months)

Step-by-Step Process to Apply for UPSC CDS 2026

Part I Registration (First Phase)

  • The applicants, in the first place, will be required to visit the official UPSC website, upsconline.gov.in or click on the direct link provided above.
  • The applicants have to next click on the link that reads “Part I Registration”.
  • The applicants will be taken to a new page that will contain all the important instructions regarding how to fill out the online application form.
  • The applicants have to scroll to the extreme bottom of the page and click on the affirmative option.
  • Then, the applicants will be taken to a new page where they have to enter all their details.
  • After filling in their details, the applicants have to click on the “Continue” button.
  • After filling up their details, the applicants have to provide their preference for AFA/IMA/INA/OTA in decreasing order.
  • In case an applicant possesses a senior division NCC ‘C’ certificate or is currently serving in the Armed Forces, he/she will be required to specify.
  • The applicants have to cross-check all the details entered by them before clicking on the “Submit” button.
  • After clicking on the “Submit” button, the applicants have to take a printout of the “Part I Registration” page, which will consist of the Unique Registration ID, etc.

Part I Registration (Second Phase)

  • After completing the “Phase I Registration”, the applicants have to go back to the online application page and click on the “Phase II Registration” link.
  • The applicants will be redirected to a new page where they have to enter their Unique Registration ID and Date of Birth.
  • The applicants will be required to pay the application fee first via any of the available payment methods.
  • Following the payment of the online application fee, the candidates have to upload their recent passport-sized colour photograph and signature as per the specifications mentioned.
  • The applicants have to check if the quality of the image and signature they have uploaded is satisfactory by clicking on the “Preview” button.
  • Next, the applicants have to choose the exam center from a list of available UPSC CDS exam centers.
  • Finally, the applicants have to take out a printed copy of the “Part II Registration” page for future reference.

  • The applicants must refrain from submitting more than one online application form.
  • In case an applicant submits more than one online application form, it must be ensured that the application form with a higher Registration ID must be filled because, in such case, only the higher RID application form will be considered by the authority
  • The applicants have to pay the application fee for each RID separately.
  • Those candidates who are currently serving in the Armed Forces or any other organisations must directly submit their online applications to the Commission, provided they have notified the head office (where they are currently employed) regarding the examination.

Steps to Withdraw UPSC CDS 2026 Application Form

The process to withdraw your UPSC CDS application form is explained below:

  • Visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
  • Click on the link, 'Withdraw Combined Defence Services Examination Application Form.’
  • Read the instructions before proceeding with withdrawing the application form.
  • The withdrawal facility is available for applicants who do not want to appear in the exam
  • Applicants are advised to provide the registration ID of the registered application. There is no provision for the withdrawal of incomplete applications.
  • Before making withdrawal requests, applicants must ensure that they have access to the mobile number and email ID that were provided by them at the time of filling out the application form.
  • Separate OTPs are sent to the applicant’s registered mobile number and email ID. Withdrawal requests are only processed after validating the OTPs.
  • Once the request for online withdrawal of the application is accepted, applicants must print the authenticated receipt.
  • Once the application has been withdrawn by applicants, it cannot be revived
  • The fees will not be refunded to applicants.
  • On successful completion of the withdrawal of the application, an auto-generated email and SMS are sent to the applicant’s registered email ID and mobile number.
