The Indian Institute of Art & Design conducts the IDAT 2026 selection process based on how you fared in the written exam and the personal interview round. In the first stage, the conducting authority releases the IIAD entrance exam application form. After the form submission, you can appear for the written exam and the PI stage as per the schedule.

The IDAT result is announced within a few weeks as per separate phases. • Communication Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Interior Architecture and Design courses offered at IIAD require exam takers to appear for the written entrance exam.
• After the iDAT exam, you will be called for the studio simulation round.

Important Guidelines of IIAD Selection Process 2026

Here are some important guidelines for the IDAT selection process 2026:

• Selection through two rounds: Aspirants will be selected based on the two-step selection rounds - entrance exam and personal interview/ studio simulation.
• Familiarise with exam details: You must be familiar with the IIAD syllabus, test format, and key subjects to be eligible for this written entrance.
• Second round of selection: After completing the written exam, you need to get ready for the round of portfolio assessments or in-person interviews. Applicants need to maintain their foundation and possess a fundamental understanding of the course they are applying to make an appealing first impression in the second round.
• Portfolio review: Students majoring in fashion and architecture are required to present a portfolio that includes both 2D and 3D artwork, such as paintings, sketches, photos, and drawings. They are required to be prepared with their original responses to queries regarding their goals and aspirations as a part of the IIAD selection process. This review round will also analyse students' communication skills. 
• Admission without entrance exam: Furthermore, prospective students may be excused from the written design aptitude test, which is the first round of the IIAD selection process, provided they can show their NATA score and meet the cut-off score. Therefore, they need to do is present themselves for the round of portfolios and personal interviews.
