About SEED 2024

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) released the first merit list for SEED 2024 on April 18, 2024. Those who participated in the SEED 2024 admission process can view and download the first merit list from the official website, sid.edu.in. The SEED 2024 results were announced on January 24, and candidates can download them from sid.edu.in using their Symbiosis SEED login details - BDes ID and Password. The final merit list for SEED 2024 admission to the B.Des program will be compiled based on the cumulative performance in the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PR PI Task).

The SEED exam duration was 1 hour or 60 minutes between 10 am and 4 pm, depending on the time slot allotted to the candidates. The SEED exam was held in an online, remote-proctored mode. Candidates were required to answer 60 questions within one hour. The SEED Question Paper included MCQs, Match the Columns, Fill in the Blanks, image-based, and comprehension-based questions.

Candidates were allowed to attempt the SEED 2024 mock test (online) on January 11 and 12, 2024 to get acquainted with the SEED exam pattern. The SEED 2024 admit cards were released on January 6 onwards till January 14, 2024. The application window for SEED 2024 closed on December 31, 2023, after opening on August 26, 2023.

What is SEED?

Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) is a design aptitude test for granting admissions to the BDes programmes offered at different campuses of Symbiosis. SEED is conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID).  The students must note that admission to BDes courses offered at Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture, and Design (SSPAD), Nagpur is done through the SEED exam from 2019 onwards. SEED was earlier referred to as SET for Design. The SEED entrance exam focuses on evaluating candidates on different parameters such as colour, visual observations, geometry, general design awareness, creative thinking abilities, and awareness of Indian culture, craft, traditions, etc.

Graphic Design (GD), Video Film Design (VFD), Animation Film Design (AFD), User Experience Design (UED), Product Design (PD), Interior Space Design (ISD), Fashion Design (FD), and Fashion Communication (FC) were among the specialisations available in the Bachelor of Design (BDes) programme.

SEED 2024 Important Dates

If you are planning to take the SEED 2024 exam for admission to B.Des courses at SID Pune and SSPAD, Nagpur, then you should know the important dates related to the exam, application process, results, and so on. SEED 2024 Conducting Body

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), Pune is the conducting body of the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED). SID Pune is a part of the Symbiosis International University (SIU) and caters solely to the bachelor level programmes in the field of design. The institute offers all the leading specialisations in design under the degree of Bachelor of Design (BDes).

SEED Application Form 2024

The Symbiosis Institute of Design B.Design registrations have begun for SEED 2024 on August 26, 2023. The application form is available at the official website of SID Pune @ www.sid.edu.in/. The application is for admission to SID's B.Des programme and participating colleges. The application process for SEED 2024 is outlined here. The last date to fill out the SEED application form was November 20, 2023, and extended till December 31, 2023. 

Here are the steps for completing the SEED 2024 application form:

  • Get Registered: To register, fill out the registration form with information such as your email address and phone number. An applicant account will be generated upon successful registration.
  • Fill Out the Application Form: Fill in your personal, academic, and contact information in this phase. Select your preferred Test Centre as well.
  • Pay the Application Fee: Once the application cost has been verified, pay the exam fee of INR 2,950. The fee must be paid online using net banking, credit or debit card.

SEED Eligibility Criteria 2024

The candidates must fulfil the desired SEED 2024 eligibility criteria as released by Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) for admission to design programs offered by it. The SEED eligibility criteria for the candidates are mentioned below: 

  • Must have completed Class 12 (from any stream like Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) or equivalent examination from a recognized board (Or)
  • Passed 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes).

The appearing candidates for their final exams in the 10+2 or 10+3 diploma programs exam pattern are also eligible to appear for the SEED 2024 entrance examination with a condition that their final exam results should be declared latest by June of the admission year.

Note: Any applicant who fails his/her Class 12 test but then appears for and passes the immediate compartmental examination conducted the same year in their first try is eligible for temporary admissions to SID.

SEED Admit Card 2024

The Symbiosis Institute of Design will release the SEED admit card 2024 on its official website. The admit card or the hall ticket is a mandatory document that the students would have to carry to appear in the SEED entrance examination. They would also need to produce the same while taking the SEED exam. The admit card of SEED will be issued to only those candidates who have filled out the application process successfully in time. The SEED 2024 admit card will have basic details like the candidate's name, roll number, date and time of the SEED 2024 exam, and complete address of the allotted exam centre. The students must download the admit card during the mentioned date to avoid any last-minute hassles.

  • Click on the link to download the admit card.
  • A login window will appear.
  • Now enter your SEED ID and password.
  • The admit card will be displayed on the screen when you log in.
  • Print the admit card after downloading it.

SEED 2024 Admission Process

Admission to the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) B.Des programme will be done in the following order:

  • Apply for SEED 2024: Candidates who satisfy the qualifying requirements must complete the form before the deadline. The candidate must register, fill out all necessary information, upload documents, and pay the application fee as part of the application procedure.
  • Get the Admit Card: Candidates who have successfully registered can get their admit cards from the SID admission portal. On exam day, bring the admission card and a valid picture ID to the exam centre. The admission card will include information such as the candidate's roll number, the day and time of the test, and exam guidelines.
  • Attend the SEED 2024 Exam: The admission test will be held online, in a remote-proctored format, and will consist of objective-type questions. 
  • Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted for the SEED, Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction rounds based on the results of the SEED written test. The candidate will be required to upload a portfolio and PRPI task, as part of the SEED 2024 selection process.
  • Result Announcement: The result-cum-final merit list will be generated by weighting the SEED, Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction rounds.  
  • Counselling and Seat Allotment: Seats will be assigned depending on the candidate's SEED 2024 merit rank. Candidates who have been assigned a seat must pay the seat acceptance fee and confirm their admittance. The allocation will be cancelled if payment is not made. 

SEED Syllabus 2024

The SEED 2024 entrance exam will last 60 minutes and will consist of 60 multiple-choice questions. Each question will be worth one point. The exam will be administered offline at various examination centres across India. The following is the SEED 2024 entrance test syllabus:

  • Visualization: You will be tested on your ability to visualise basic and complicated 2D and 3D geometric shapes in this part. You will be asked to identify forms, their qualities, and how they relate to one another.
  • Application of Basic Knowledge of Science and Mathematics: This part will assess your understanding of fundamental scientific and mathematics topics such as geometry, trigonometry, and physics. These notions will be used to address difficulties.
  • Observational, Perceptual, and Reasoning Abilities: This part will assess your ability to observe, perceive, and reason. You will be required to recognise patterns, draw conclusions, and solve issues.
  • Creative and Problem-Solving Abilities: This part will assess your ability to think creatively and solve difficulties. You will be asked to come up with ideas, solve problems, and explain your rationale.
  • Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment: You will be tested on your knowledge of art, craft, culture, design, and the environment in this area. Different art forms, crafts, civilizations, and design components will be identified and described.

Note: The SEED 2024 syllabus is based on the 10+2 curriculum. The exam, on the other hand, is intended to assess students' aptitude for design education. As a result, the syllabus covers several topics not covered in the 10+2 curriculum.

SEED Exam Pattern 2024

The SEED 2024 exam will be delivered by computer-based testing (CBT). According to the official website, the exam will last 60 minutes and include 60 questions. The SEED 2024 test will have multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each right answer will be given 2 marks. There will be no negative marking for wrong responses. SEED 2024 requires a minimum of 70% to qualify. The SEED 2024 exam will be divided into two sections:

  • Section I: Visualization (20 questions)
  • Section II: Aptitude (40 questions)

SEED Mock Test 2024

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will start conducting the SEED mock test 2024 in January. The SEED 2023 Mock Test was conducted on January 12 and January 13, 2023. The time for the SEED online mock test was between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thus, for the upcoming SEED 2024 exam, candidates are encouraged to appear for the SEED mock test 2024 as it is very beneficial for them to perform well in the SEED entrance test 2024. The SEED 2024 mock test is expected to be conducted in January before the SEED 2024 exam date.

The mock tests are conducted for the students who have successfully completed their application process in online mode and can be taken by the candidate to prepare for the exam. The purpose of conducting Mock Tests is to make students familiar with the examination pattern and time management.

Symbiosis Institute of Design usually offers B.Des Admission through SEED scores. However, in 2020 and 2021 candidates were granted admission based on Online Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction Rounds. Students need to appear for the aforementioned admission processes in order to get admission in B.Des at Symbiosis Institute of Design.
