How to Calculate JIPMER MBBS Result 2020?

Answers marked by the candidates in the JIPMER MBBS 2020 exam shall be considered for the calculation of JIPMER MBBS score 2020. The following rules shall be applicable for the calculation of JIPMER MBBS results 2020 -

  • Candidates whoever clicked on ‘Submit’ button before the completion of JIPMER MBBS exam must note that he/she is eligible for the calculation of JIPMER MBBS results 2020.
  • All the questions, which were marked as ‘Answered’ shall be considered for the result calculation.
  • Questions, which were marked as ‘Marked for Review’ and ‘Answered’ shall be considered for the calculation of results.
  • Questions which were unanswered and were marked as ‘Marked for Review’ shall not be considered for the calculation of results.
  • For each correct answer, the candidates will be awarded ‘Four Marks’
  • For each wrong answer, the candidates will be deduced ‘One Mark’
  • Marks shall not be deduced for ‘Not Answered’ questions.

JIPMER MBBS 2020 Normalization Procedure

Normalization procedure is implemented to prepare the merit list of JIPMER MBBS exam 2020. The percentile score of the candidates is strictly considered for preparing the JIPMER MBBS merit list 2020. The normalization procedure ensures that no student is neither advantaged or disadvantaged by the difficulty level of the questions in the JIPMER MBBS exam. Firstly, the percentile score of the candidate in each shift will be calculated. The normalization of score among the multiple shifts of JIPMER MBBS exam is explained through the example below.

Example 1: Let us assume that 4000 students have appeared for the JIPMER MBBS exam in the Morning Shift. Student ‘F’ who appeared for the exam scored 70% in the entrance exam and 1988 candidates scored lesser marks in the exam than student ‘F’. Now, the percentile score of student ‘F’ is calculated as follows -

Percentile Score of 70% Marks in JIPMER MBBS Exam = 1988/4000 X 100 = 49.7

Therefore, the percentile score of the student ‘F’ is 49.7

Example 2: Let us assume that 3500 students have appeared for the JIPMER MBBS exam in the Afternoon Shift. Student ‘N’ who appeared for the exam scored 85% in the entrance exam and 2620 candidates scored lesser marks in the exam than student ‘N’. Now, the percentile score of student ‘N’ is calculated as follows -

Percentile Score of 85% Marks in JIPMER MBBS Exam = 2620/3500 X 100 = 74.85

Therefore, the percentile score of the student ‘N’ is 74.85

JIPMER MBBS Tie-Resolving Policy 2020

In many cases, the exam authority faces an issue where two or more candidates secure the same percentile or marks in the JIPMER MBBS exam. In such cases, the inter-se merit of the candidates in the JIPMER MBBS exam shall be determined as follows.

Tie Breaker 1 - Negative Marks

As per Tie-Breaker (Rule 1), candidates with less negative marks in the JIPMER MBBS exam shall be placed higher in the merit list than the other candidate.

Example: If student ‘A’ and ‘B’ scored 95 percentile in JIPMER MBBS exam 2019 and student ‘B’ has less negative marks in the exam, student ‘B’ shall be placed higher in the merit list than student ‘A’.

Tie Breaker 2 - Biology

If the tie still exists even after applying Rule 1, the second rule is applied to resolve the same. In such cases, a candidate with higher marks in Biology shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other student.

Tie Breaker 3 - Chemistry

If the tie still exists even after applying Rule 1 & 2, the third rule is applied to resolve the tie. In such cases, a candidate with higher marks in Chemistry shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate.

Tie Breaker 4 - Physics

If the tie still exists even after applying Rule 1, 2 & 3, the fourth rule is applied to resolve the tie. In case of a tie, candidate with higher marks in Physics shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate.

Tie Breaker 5 - English Language

If the tie still exists even after applying the above four rules, the fifth rule is applied to resolve the tie. In case of a tie, candidate with higher marks in the English Language shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate.

Tie Breaker 6 - Logical & Quantitative Reasoning

If the tie still persists even after applying the above five rules, the sixth rule is applied to resolve the tie. In case of a tie, candidate with higher marks in Logical & Quantitative Reasoning section of JIPMER MBBS exam shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidates.

Tie Breaker 7 - Age

Finally, a candidate who is elder in age shall be given higher preference in the merit list than the other candidate. The rule is applied if tie still exists even after applying the above rules.
