KSET 2026 Exam

The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) 2026 will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for candidates aspiring to become Assistant Professors in universities and colleges across Karnataka. The official notification for KSET 2026 will be released on the official KEA website cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/ by August 2026. The notification will contain complete details regarding eligibility, exam dates, syllabus, application process, and selection criteria.

The KSET 2026 Admit Card (Hall Ticket) will be released online on the official KEA website prior to the examination date. Candidates who have successfully submitted their application forms will be able to download the admit card by logging in with their application number and password. The admit card is mandatory for entry into the examination hall and must be carried along with a valid photo ID proof.

KSET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fit into the KSET 2026 Eligibility Criteria given below to appear for the KSET 2026 exam.

  • Educational Qualification: Master's degree or equivalent from UGC-recognized universities with at least 55% marks (General) and 50% (SC/ST/PWD/Category I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB).
  • Final Year Students: Candidates appearing in the final year of their Master's degree can apply provisionally. The eligibility certificate will be issued only after securing the required marks within two years.
  • Relaxation: PhD holders who completed their Master's before 19 September 1991 get a 5% relaxation.
  • Relevant Subject: Candidates must apply in their post-graduation subject. If not available in KSET subjects, they must apply through UGC-NET/CSIR-NET.
  • Documents: Candidates must submit valid category certificates, degree/marks cards, and proof of eligibility. Invalid certificates will lead to cancellation.
  • Restriction: Candidates already qualified in KSET for a subject cannot reappear in the same subject.

KSET 2026 Admit Card

Candidates can download the KSET 2026 Admit Card from the official KEA website- cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/. It will be released online before the scheduled examination date. Candidates will not receive the admit card by post or email; they must download it from the portal. Given below are the steps that can be followed to download the KSET Admit Card 2026:

  • Visit the official website of the Karnataka Examinations Authority - cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/
  • From the home page of the website, click on the link for "KSET 2026 Admit Card".
  • Enter your Application Number and Password/Date of Birth.
  • The KSET 2026 Admit Card will be displayed on your screen after a successful login.

KSET Exam Pattern 2026

  • Mode of Examination: The KSET 2026 exam will be conducted in offline (OMR-based) mode.
  • Stages of KSET 2026: The KSET 2026 exam consists of two stages — Stage 1 is the written examination comprising Paper I and Paper II, and Stage 2 is the KSET 2026 Merit List.

KSET 2026 Exam Pattern: Stage 1

Paper I and Paper II will be conducted in Pen and Paper (OMR) mode. All questions are of the objective-type (MCQ) format and are compulsory to attempt.

  • Total Marks: The total marks for KSET 2026 Paper I is 100 and Paper II is 200.
  • Marking Scheme: Two marks will be awarded for each correct answer and there is no negative marking in the KSET 2026 exam.
  • Paper I: General in nature — tests Teaching/Research Aptitude, Reasoning, Comprehension, Divergent Thinking, and General Awareness. Duration: 1 hour (50 questions, 100 marks).
  • Paper II: Subject-specific, based on the candidate's post-graduation subject. Duration: 2 hours (100 questions, 200 marks).

KSET 2026 Exam Pattern: Stage 2

  • Merit List: Names of the selected candidates will be mentioned in the KSET 2026 Merit List. The number of candidates to be qualified for Assistant Professor shall be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both Paper I and Paper II.
  • Cutoff Marks: The KSET 2026 cutoff marks will be declared along with the KSET final merit list 2026.

KSET 2026 Answer Key

The KSET 2026 Provisional Answer Key will be released on the official KEA website after the examination. Candidates are allowed to raise objections against the provisional KSET Answer Key 2026 within the stipulated objection window. Once the exam conducting body reviews all the objections and makes changes in the answer key accordingly, the final KSET 2026 Answer Key is released on the official website.

The result will be released in the form of a subject-wise and category-wise list of candidates provisionally qualified in the KSET 2026 exam. KSET 2026 Selection Process

  • Written Examination: The dates for the first step of the KSET selection process have still not been declared by the exam conducting body. The KSET written examination consists of two papers, Paper I and II (Both Compulsory). 
  • Paper I of the written examination consists of the topics related to Research Aptitude and General Teaching, whereas paper II is subject-based. 
  • KSET 2026 Merit List: After Paper I and II are conducted by the exam committee, candidates will have to wait for the release of the final merit list of the KSET 2026 exam. Names of the selected candidates who scored more than or equal to the KSET Cutoff 2026 will appear on the KSET merit list
