SSC CGL Selection Process 2020

The SSC CGL 2020 has four stages – Tier I, Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV, and the selection of the candidates depends upon these four stages. Candidates qualifying in all the four tiers will be selected for recruitment in various posts. 

Stage 1: Tier I Online Test

Stage 1: Tier I Online Test

  • To appear in further stages of the SSC CGL process 2019, candidates must successfully clear Tier I, which is the first stage of SSC CGL Selection Procedure 2019.

  • Tier-I exam is an objective exam, which comprises of 200 marks questions.

  • Candidates who qualify Tier-I exam will be eligible to appear for Tier-II.

Stage 2: Tier II Online Test

Tier-II consists of objective type of questions, which comprises of four papers in total. Paper-I and Paper-II are compulsory for all, however, Paper III will be for the candidates who have applied for the post of Statistical Investigator and Paper-IV will be for those candidates who have applied for the post of Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) in C&AG.

Candidates qualifying in Tier-II will be allowed to appear for SSC CGL 2020 Tier-III.

Stage 3: Tier III Descriptive Test

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Tier III on the basis of their performance in Tier I and Tier II.

  • The Descriptive Test of SSC CGL will be conducted in Pen and Paper mode.

  • The qualifying marks in Tier-III would be 33% and the questions asked at this stage will be of class 12 standard.

Stage 4: Tier IV Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

  • As per the marks scored by the candidates in Tier I and Tier II, candidates will determine the eligibility of the candidates to appear in Tier IV.

  • Tier-IV will continue to be the Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) /Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), which will be of qualifying nature.

SSC CGL Selection Procedure 2020 – Final Merit

  • On the basis of the total score in Tier-I, Tier-I, and Tier-III, the final merit of the successful candidates will be prepared.

  • All India Merit List will be prepared for each category for various posts by SSC.

  • Only to the shortlisted candidates, letter of appointments will be given.

SSC CGL Selection Procedure 2020 – Tie-Breaker

In case of a tie, the following will be considered:

  • Total marks of Tier-I Examination.

  • Total marks in the written examination.

  • Date of Birth, with older placed higher.

  • Total marks in Tier-I Examination.

  • Alphabetical order in which the first names of the candidates appear
