What is SSC CGL Syllabus 2024?

The SSC CGL Syllabus 2024 PDF will be released by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on their official website along with the official notification.         SSC CGL Syllabus 2024 Tier 3

        The SSC CGL syllabus 2024 for Tier III consists of a descriptive Paper that includes Letter Writing and Application Writing. Letter writing includes both formal letters (letter to the editor, letter to the municipality, etc) and informal letters (letter to a friend, etc). The paper is in English/ Hindi language and will constitute 100 marks. Candidates have to complete the entire paper in 60 minutes.  It should also be noted that the minimum qualifying marks for this Tier III paper are 33%.

        SSC CGL CPT & DEST 2024 Syllabus

        The SSC CGL exam is administered by the Staff Selection Commission in order to select applicants for desk jobs in the central government departments and ministries. The same subjects covered in last year's syllabus will be covered in SSC CGL 2023. The candidates who are chosen for CGL positions must perform computer entries. The Commission is using the CPT and DEST to assess proficiency in computer operations. The candidates can see the syllabus for Computer-Proficiency Test and Date Entry Speed Test as below:

        SSC CGL CPT Syllabus

        In the SSC CGL Tier 2, the Commission substituted the Computer Knowledge Test (CKT) for a different CPT. The official notification states that the Computer Knowledge Test (CKT) is necessary yet qualifying in nature. The candidates must pass the CKT; otherwise, their scores will not be taken into account for the final merit list. The Computer Knowledge Test will be conducted to test the computer proficiency of the candidates. The Commission also mentioned that for the following SSC CGL posts, the Commission will set higher qualifying standards for the candidates:

        1. Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ
        2. Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs
        3. Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines
        4. Assistant in Indian Meteorological Department (Ministry of Earth Sciences)
        5. Inspector (CGST &Central Excise)
        6. Inspector (Preventive officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant in the Department of Post

        SSC CGL Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) Syllabus

        The purpose of the DEST is for the Commission to evaluate candidates' accuracy and speed when entering data into a computer. The DEST lasts for a mere fifteen minutes. For the course of fifteen (15) minutes, a "Data Entry Speed Test" (DEST) skill test involving the passing of roughly two thousand (2,000) key depressions will be done. The Commission mentioned that there will be two categories of mistakes in the SSC CGL DEST. These are 

        • Full Mistake
        • Half Mistake

        The Commission has mentioned the following rules for consideration of full and half mistakes:

        SSC CGL DEST Full Mistake Criteria

        The Commission will consider full mistake on the Data Entry Speed Test" (DEST) in case of the following:

        1. For every omission of a word/figure.
        2. For repetition of word/figure, e.g. ‘I will will be honored ..........’
        3. For every addition of a word/figure not found in the passage.
        4. For Incomplete words (half-typed words will be treated as mistake).
        5. For every spelling error committed by way of repetition, addition, omission, or substitution of a letter/letters, e.g. if the word ‘spelling’ is typed as seeplings; seplling; speling; seepling; etc.
        6. For every substitution of a wrong word/figure, except transposition of words.

        SSC CGL DEST Half Mistake Criteria

        The Commission will consider the following as a half-mistake on the Data Entry Speed Test" (DEST):

        1. Spacing Errors: Where no space is provided between two words, e.g. ‘Iwill’, or undesired space is provided between the words or letters of a word e.g.‘I w ill’ (space left between a word).
        2. Wrong Capitalisation: Wrong typing of a capital letter for a small letter or vice-versa.
        3. Punctuation Errors: Where the punctuation mark is omitted, added, or substituted by another.
        4. Transposition Errors: Where words are transposed, e.g. the words ‘I will’ are typed as ‘will I’.
