WB JELET 2026 exam pattern follows an offline OMR-based format. Test takers must mark their answers with a blue/ black ink ball-point pen, which will be assessed by using the Optical Mark Recognition method. The duration is 2 hours.
The examination is held separately for the offered courses. Paper I is applicable for Diploma in Engineering or Technology, B.Sc., D.Voc., and B.Voc. streams and includes questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. This paper comprises 100 questions carrying a total of 120 marks, distributed across two categories, where Category 1 questions are worth 1 mark with a negative marking of 0.25 mark, while Category 2 questions carry 2 marks without any negative marking.
Paper II is meant exclusively for applicants from Diploma in Pharmacy and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions of Category-1, each carrying 1 mark. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks are deducted. WB JELET syllabus indicates the list of subjects, units and topics that you need to prepare for the entrance exam. No, subjective questions are not asked in the entrance as per the WB JELET exam pattern. Aspirants have to attempt only multiple-choice questions. Each question requires them to select the correct option or options based on the category defined in the paper structure.
The WB JELET exam pattern specifies that the question paper is available only in the English language. You are required to read and respond to all questions in English during the examination.
As per the WB JELET exam pattern, the examination is conducted for a total duration of two hours. All questions from the respective paper from Engineering/ Technology or Pharmacy must be completed within this fixed time limit.
The candidate will receive one mark for each correct answer provided in the WB JELET exam. For each incorrect answer, one-quarter of a point will be deducted. There are no marks awarded for unanswered questions. If more than one response is marked in a single question, the question is considered incorrect, and 0.25 marks are deducted.
As per the WB JELET exam pattern 2026, the exam will be conducted offline, using a pen-and-paper format, with a duration of 2 hours. The medium of the exam will be English, and it will consist of multiple-choice questions.
