About WB JELET 2026 Exam Pattern

WB JELET 2026 exam pattern follows an offline OMR-based format. Test takers must mark their answers with a blue/ black ink ball-point pen, which will be assessed by using the Optical Mark Recognition method. The duration is 2 hours.

The examination is held separately for the offered courses. Paper I is applicable for Diploma in Engineering or Technology, B.Sc., D.Voc., and B.Voc. streams and includes questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. This paper comprises 100 questions carrying a total of 120 marks, distributed across two categories, where Category 1 questions are worth 1 mark with a negative marking of 0.25 mark, while Category 2 questions carry 2 marks without any negative marking.

Paper II is meant exclusively for applicants from Diploma in Pharmacy and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions of Category-1, each carrying 1 mark. For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks are deducted. The question paper is framed according to the Diploma in Pharmacy syllabus, and the official exam pattern does not specify any separate section-wise distribution for this paper. WB JELET Marking Scheme 2026

The detailed WB JELET marking scheme has been discussed below - 

  • Each question will carry one mark
  • 1/4th marks will be deducted for every wrong/double answer
  • No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions

Category 1: Only one option is correct

  • The correct option will yield 1 (one) mark, and the incorrect option will yield negative ¼ marks
  • For any combination of more than one option, even if it contains the correct option, the answer will be treated as incorrect and hence, negative ¼ marks will be considered
  • For not attempting any question, no marks will be allotted/ deducted

Category 2: One or more options are correct

  • Marking all correct options only will yield 2 (two) marks
  • For any combination of answers containing one or more incorrect options, the said answer will be treated as incorrect, and it will yield zero (0) mark even if one or more of the chosen options is/are correct
  • For partially correct answers, i.e., when all correct options are not marked and also no incorrect options are marked, marks awarded = 2 X (no of correct options marked) / (total no of actually correct options)
  • For non attempting any question, no marks will be allotted/ deducted
