WB JELET 2026 - Exam Date, Notification, Pattern, Syllabus, Preparation

WB JELET 2026 exam registration last date has been extended. As per the official notificaiton, now you can register yourself till April 11, 2026. Not only this, but the authority has also revised the dates for appication correction window availability. You will be able to avail the WB JELET application correction from April 13-14, 2026. The submission of the application form includes steps like WB JELET 2026 registration, filling out the required details, such as filling in personal and academic details, uploading prescribed documents, and paying the application fee before the due date.

Following this, the authority will be releasing the admit card on June 5, 2026. You will only be able to download the admit card if you submit the application form successfully. The WB JELET 2026 exam is set to take place on June 13, 2026. It will be conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for admission into the second year of undergraduate Engineering, Technology, and Pharmacy courses through lateral entry.

The examination is conducted once a year and is used for offering admission into state-aided universities, government colleges, and self-financing institutes across West Bengal. The selection process follows structured stages such as application form release, correction window, admit card release, examination, result declaration, and centralised counselling.

As per the WB JELET exam pattern, the test is OMR-based with multiple-choice questions answered within a fixed two-hour duration. The major sections for Paper I (Engineering/Technology, B.Sc., D. Voc. and B.Voc. applicants) include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The marking methodology is a mix of questions having 1 mark with negative marking (Category I) and some with 2 marks with no negative marking (Category II).

Paper II is for Diploma in Pharmacy aspirants and consists of 100 pharmacy-based multiple-choice questions of Category I. Each correct answer for Pharmacy carries 1 mark, and a negative marking of 0.25 mark is applicable for incorrect responses. The sections are based on the Diploma in Pharmacy syllabus. The official exam pattern does not specify a separate section-wise distribution for Paper II.

WB JELET results are typically issued in November, as per previous year trends. Admission is offered based on merit rank, meeting eligibility conditions, document verification, and seat availability during JELET counselling.

Before applying for the examination, applicants must review the WB JELET eligibility criteria 2026. Only Indian citizens can apply for WB JELET. There is no upper age limit for Engineering, Technology, and Pharmacy Diploma holders, while the upper age limit for B.Sc holders is 27 years, and for Marine Engineering Diploma holders, it is 25 years, both as of December 31st of the examination year.

Diploma candidates must possess a relevant diploma with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) from an AICTE-recognised institution, and those seeking admission to Jadavpur University need a 60% aggregate (45% for reserved categories).

B.Sc holders must have a degree from a recognised institute with at least 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories), along with a Class 12 completion and a mathematics major. If admitted, they must also pass Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Graphics/Drawing, in addition to second-year subjects. However, B.Sc degree holders are not eligible for the Pharmacy program or admission to Jadavpur University.

The WB JELET application form has been released. To submit your application form, you need to register first and generate the application number, password, and security question/answer. In the next step, you are required to fill out the form particulars such as domicile, family income status, nationality, academic details, etc. 

Subsequently, you must upload the necessary images and pay the examination fee as per the gender and category. After completing all the key steps, the system will display the “Confirmation Page” on the screen, indicating that the JELET form submission is done.

WB JELET exam pattern indicates the structure of the test. The exam follows an offline format where responses are marked on an OMR sheet using a pen, and the total time allotted for the paper is two hours. 

For lateral entry into engineering and technology programmes, applicants attempt Paper I, which includes questions from four core areas aligned with diploma-level studies: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. 

Paper I includes two types of questions, where one category carries single-mark questions with a penalty for incorrect answers, while another category carries higher-value questions without negative marking. Overall, when combined, a total of 100 questions are asked, carrying 120 marks.

Paper II is conducted separately for pharmacy admissions and includes only single-correct multiple-choice questions. All questions in this paper carry equal marks, with a deduction applied for incorrect attempts. Questions are drawn from the Diploma in Pharmacy curriculum as prescribed by the board.

Preparation for WB JELET should begin with a clear understanding of the official syllabus and exam pattern prescribed in the Information Bulletin. Aspirants are advised to focus on diploma-level concepts based on the offered course. After completion of the JELET syllabus, work through WB JELET previous year question papers and attempt mocks for higher retention of concepts and to enhance problem-solving skills.

Typically, you should begin preparations as early as possible and follow a steady routine. A structured study schedule helps in covering all subjects systematically without last-minute pressure. Apart from practising sample questions, regular revision of key topics and formulas also supports better performance during the examination.

The WB JELET syllabus is specified by the conducting body in the official Information Bulletin released along with the exam notification. It is aligned with the diploma and qualifying examination curricula and must be known to the aspirants for complete preparation.

Paper I syllabus includes Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Mathematics covers topics such as algebra, calculus, coordinate geometry, probability, etc., while Physics includes areas like kinematics, laws of motion, heat and thermodynamics, electricity, reflection of light, and much more. Chemistry focuses on basic physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry concepts relevant to engineering studies. The Fundamentals of Electrical and Electronics Engineering section includes topics related to electrical components, measuring instruments, electrical machines, AC and DC sources, etc. JELET syllabus for Paper I is structured to assess subject knowledge required for second-year lateral entry.

Paper II syllabus is applicable only for Diploma in Pharmacy applicants and is based entirely on the Diploma in Pharmacy curriculum provided by the Pharmacy Council of India.

WB JELET admit card is issued by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board a few days before the examination. Once live, exam takers must download it from the official portal and take a printout. They are required to bring the hall ticket to the exam centre on the day of the test along with a valid photo ID card. 

Aspirants must ensure that the JELET admit card is not mutilated or distorted by any means. The information on it must be clear and legible. Also, make sure to save the copy for further reference, such as checking JELET results and document verification during JELET counselling.

During the application process for the WB JELET exam, applicants have to select their preferred JELET exam centres from the provided list in the online form. For the Engineering/Technology exams, the available centres include cities/ towns like Agartala, Kalyani, Berhampur, Haldia, Kharagpur, Malda, and multiple locations in Kolkata (South, North/Salt Lake, and Central). Besides, venues are also available in Howrah, Srirampur, Siliguri, Coochbehar, Burdwan, Durgapur, Asansol, and Bankura.

For the Pharmacy exams, the centres are usually limited to Kolkata (North/Salt Lake), Siliguri, and Durgapur.

The WB JELET result is prepared by the conducting body based on the marks obtained by applicants in the entrance test. Individual applicants can view and retrieve their rank card, which displays both the score and the merit rank secured in the examination. 

WBJEEB does not make any rank list or score list public to maintain the confidentiality of individual results. The merit ranks are issued in the form of General Merit Rank (GMR) for engineering and technology streams and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) for pharmacy admissions. 

Ranking is done strictly in descending order of marks scored, and tie-breaking rules are applied wherever required. The General Merit Ranks and not Category ranks form the basis for participation in the counselling and seat allotment process.

WB JELET counselling process tentatively commences in October/ November. Only those who have qualified in the WB JELET exam are eligible for the WB JELET counselling process. Students will need to register, pay the required fee, and indicate their preferred courses and colleges within the prescribed dates.

The WBJEE JELET seat allotment results are announced during the respective stages of the counselling process. The aspirants' rank, preferences, and the availability of seats are all taken into account when allocating seats. Those allotted seats during the counselling process are required to pay the seat acceptance fee and confirm their admission before their deadline.
