The Joint Entrance Examination Council Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) is an important exam for students who want to study polytechnic courses in Uttar Pradesh. Because many students take this exam, JEECUP is held in multiple sessions to fit everyone in. Each session can have different levels of difficulty, which might seem unfair to some students. To solve this problem, JEECUP uses a process called marks normalization. Marks normalization helps to balance out the differences in difficulty between the various sessions, making sure that all students are treated fairly no matter which session they attend. The main reason of introducing the marks normalization rules for JEECUP 2025, is to keep the exam fair and equal for all students.
In the UPJEE Polytechnic 2025 exam, some papers were held in multiple sessions. To account for differences in difficulty levels across these sessions, this normalization process has been applied, based on the assumption that the distribution of students' abilities remains the same in all sessions of the multi-session UPJEE (Polytechnic) papers. This makes sense because many students take the exam, and the sessions are assigned randomly. Also, each session has about the same number of students. With this in mind, and after looking at different ways to normalize the scores, the authority came up with a formula to calculate the normalized marks for students in the multi-session papers which is as follows.
After the JEECUP 2025 result, the students who have qualified for the exam must participate in the JEECUP 2025 counselling process. Through the counselling process, the students will be allotted seats on the basis of their merit obtained in the exam.
