SEED Exam Pattern 2024: The SEED 2024 exam pattern is not prescribed by the Symbiosis Institute of Design. However, we will go over the complete exam pattern and format for SEED 2024 based on the previous year's SEED question paper. SEED 2024 is a 60-minute computer-based test (online proctored exam) with roughly 60 multiple-choice objective questions broken into many sections. The exam is scheduled for January 14, 2024, across different SEED 2024 exam centres in India. Candidates can download their SEED 2024 admit cards from the official website.

SEED Exam - Portfolio Presentation

The SEED 2024 exam is divided into different rounds. After candidates qualify for the written exam, they are eligible for other rounds. In the portfolio presentation round, students must upload their portfolios on the official website. Then the portfolio submitted by the candidates are evaluated by a panel of interviewers. 

The portfolio may include the following:

  • Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
  • Photography
  • Sketches, mixed-media illustrations and digital work
  • 3D objects such as sculptures, fabric products, gadgets, art-inspired products, and more 

SEED Exam - Personal Interaction

Aspirants who get shortlisted in the portfolio presentation round will only be able to move forward to the next round of Personal Interaction. This round comprises questions based on the programme the student has chosen. Moreover, keeping in mind the portfolio is also advisable, as the panel will also ask questions related to the portfolio. 

Students appearing in this round must also keep their basic art stationery handy, as the panel may ask them to showcase any skills. The exam pattern of the SEED written exam consists of 150 Multiple Choice Questions that have to be answered in 2.5 hours duration. This written exam is conducted to test and evaluate the knowledge of the student across different spheres such as geometry, creative thinking abilities, colour, visual observations, general design awareness and awareness of Indian craft, culture, traditions and others.

SEED 2024 Exam - Studio Test

Candidates who qualify for SEED will have to sit for the Studio Test round. They can appear for this Studio test at the SID campus itself. However, the final selection is done based on the complete performance of the candidate. So, students are advised to give their best not only in the written test but also in the portfolio round, personal interaction round, and PRPI Tasks. It also depends on the information provided by the candidate on the application form and their choice of specialisation.

SEED 2024 Marking Scheme

The following is the SEED 2024 marking scheme:

  • There is no negative marking.
  • One mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
  • The maximum mark for the exam is 100.
  • The exam will be conducted in a computer-based mode.

Does SEED 2024 have negative markings?

No, SEED exam 2024 does not have any negative markings. This means that the student can attempt as many questions as they can within the allotted exam duration. It is also good news for students who are unsure of their answers as they can still attempt them. However, students must know that only correct answers will be considered for marking, one mark will be awarded against each correct answer.

Do we have to select any section in a prescribed order for the SEED exam 2024?

No, you do not need to take the SEED test 2024 in any particular sequence. You can try the questions in any sequence you like. However, it is best to tackle the questions in the order in which you are most comfortable. Since the SEED exam is computer-based, you will be able to move freely between the two portions. You may also go over your answers before submitting them.

What is the type of question asked in the SEED entrance test?

What items must be included in the SEED 2024 portfolio?

- Your best works: Your portfolio should highlight your greatest work as well as your love of design. Sketches, drawings, paintings, pictures, collages, or any other sort of artwork that you have made can be included.
- A written statement: Include a written statement about your passion for design and your future aspirations. This statement should not exceed 500 words.
- Your contact information: Include your contact information as well, such as your name, email address, and phone number.

Will I be asked to draw or sketch some articles during the SEED 2024 personal interaction round?

During the SEED 2024 personal interaction round, you may be asked to draw or sketch something. This, however, is not assured. The personal interaction round is intended to evaluate your inventiveness, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills. To measure your creativity and problem-solving skills, the panellists may ask you to draw or sketch something. They may also ask you to discuss your portfolio or creative ideas. 

Where can I upload the SEED 2024 Portfolio?

The SEED 2024 Portfolio can be uploaded on the SEED website. The portfolio submission period will run from April 11 through April 19, 2024. To submit your portfolio, you must first establish an account on the SEED website and log in. The portfolio should be a digital portfolio showcasing your greatest work and creative enthusiasm. The portfolio should not exceed 15 MB in size. Your portfolio can be uploaded in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format.

Can a handmade portfolio be presented at the time of the PI round for SEED 2024?

Candidates who have created a handmade portfolio must take photographs of their best work, put it in PDF format, and upload it to the provided URL. It is not permitted to display the handcrafted portfolio during the PI round. It is mandatory to upload the work before the scheduled time for engagement. Furthermore, the digital portfolio must be larger than 5 MB in size. In addition, the portfolio must be in the form of a PowerPoint Presentation with no more than 15 slides.

What is the passing marks for the SEED exam?

The SEED exam has a passing mark of 50%. This indicates that in order to pass the exam, a candidate must earn at least 50% of the total marks. The test is graded out of 100 marks, thus a candidate must score at least 50 marks to pass.

How many times SEED exam is conducted in a year?

The SEED exam is given once a year. The test is often held in the month of January. The SEED exam 2024 application process has already started. The test date has been provisionally set for January 7, 2024.

Symbiosis Institute of Design usually offers B.Des Admission through SEED scores. However, in 2020 and 2021 candidates were granted admission based on Online Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction Rounds. Students need to appear for the aforementioned admission processes in order to get admission in B.Des at Symbiosis Institute of Design. Without qualifying them, they cannot get admission to the institute.
