About WB JECA 2018

JECA (short for Joint Entrance Examination for admissions to Master of Computer Applications), is organised by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEM). The examination is a gateway for candidates to pursue MCA courses offered at colleges in the state of West Bengal. WB JECA 2018 will be organised on 23rd June, 2018 and the application form will be available in online mode from 8th March, 2018 to 2nd April, 2018.

WB JECA 2018 Eligibility Criteria

WB JECA 2018 eligibility criteria for each institute is different. Candidates should ensure that they fulfill the WB JECA 2018 eligibility before applying for the entrance exam. The various parameters accepted by various institutions are given below:

Age Limit

  • There is no age limit for any candidate to apply for WB JECA 2018.

Nationality

  • Only Indian citizen are eligible to apply for WB JECA 2018 exam.

Qualifying Norms

Candidates applying for WB JECA 2018 should meet the following qualifying criteria.

Norm 1:

  • Candidates should have 3 years of Bachelor's Degree with at least 60% in honours/ aggregate and 45% for Reserved category (SC/ST) from UGC/ AICTE recognised university or Candidates should have a BCA degree with 60% marks for General category and 45% marks for Reserved category (SC/ ST) candidates.

  • Candidates should have secured at least 60% marks (45% for Reserved category in secondary and higher secondary or equivalent from any recognised board.

  • Candidates should have 60% marks in Mathematics at each level.

Norm 2:

  • Candidates should have 3 years of Bachelor’s degree from UGC/ AICTE recognised, except BBA. Candidates should have Mathematics as a compulsory subject in 12th standard or Graduation level.

  • Candidates should have minimum 50% marks in Graduation level.

  • The authority gives relaxation of 5% marks for Reserved categories candidates (SC/ ST/ OBC - A/ OBC – B).

Norm 3:

  • Candidates should have a Graduation or equivalent degree in any stream from UGC recognised university/ Institute or BE/ B.Tech/ BCA from any AICTE recognised university or institute.

  • Candidates should have Mathematics as compulsory subject in Graduation level.

  • The minimum qualifying marks for General category is 60% marks and 45% for Reserved categories ((SC/ ST/ OBC - A/ OBC – B)) candidates.

Norm 4:

  • Candidates should have a B.Sc degree in any subject with 60% marks for General category (45% marks for Reserved category) and 55% marks in Mathematics from a UGC recognised university/ Institute.

  • Candidates should have secured 60% marks in class 10 and 12and should have Mathematics at each level.

WB JECA 2018 Reservation Criteria

WB JECA reservation is available for different categories i.e. SC/ ST category, OBC-A/ OBC-B category, PwD (Persons with Disabilities) Category.

The relevant certificates should be uploaded at the time of WB JECA 2018 registration process and also have to be produced for verification during the WB JECA 2018 counselling.

WB JECA 2018 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of WB JECA 2018 comprises of information on the types of questions, time duration, marking scheme and other important details related to the paper pattern that students can study before taking the entrance exam.

  • WB JECA 2018 exam is organised in two shifts:

    • Shift 1: Mathematics, and

  • The question paper contains 100 objective type questions with four options and only one option is correct.

  • The duration of shift 1 is 2 hours.

  • For every correct answer,  1 mark is awarded.

  • 1 mark is given for every correct answer.

The WB JECA 2018 result has been released on 22nd July 2018 on the official website of WBJEEB. How to View WB JECA 2018 Result

  • Go to the official website of WB JECA 2018 and click on the 'WB JECA 2018 Rank Card' tab.

  • Then, enter your Application number, Password, and Date of Birth.

  • Click on the 'Submit' tab once all the credentials are filled.

  • After that, candidates are directed to the next page wherein the WB JECA rank card is displayed along with their rank and marks.

  • Download the WB JECA rank card, take a printout and keep a soft copy as well.

WB JECA 2018 Ranking Methodology & Merit List

WBJEEB is going to publish a merit rank list based on the candidates' total score in the entrance test. Qualified candidates of WBJECA 2018 should check their name in the merit list and then be prepared for verification and counselling process.

  • This list is in the name and style of ‘GMR’ (short for General Merit Rank).

  • Separate Reserved category merit rank is also released for different category of candidates such as SC Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PwD Rank.

  • But only ‘GMR’ is applicable for sequencing the counselling process and seat allotment.

  • Ranking of the said merit list is done in the descending order of total marks scored in the entrance test.

  • However, there may be ties and following the tie-breaking rule is applicable for them in the determination of their merit rank.

Tie-breaking Methodology in Merit Rank

  • Less negative marks in Mathematics & Aptitude Test taken together.

  • More positive marks in Mathematics.

  • More positive marks in Aptitude Test.

  • Less negative marks in Mathematics.

  • Less negative marks in Aptitude Test.

  • If the tie exists still thereafter, it will be broken by the Date of Birth (DOB) of the concerned candidates; the older candidate will be given preference over the younger one.

WB JECA 2018 Counselling

Candidates whose names appear in the merit list are called for counselling for admission in institutions in West Bengal in the month of July/August. The detailed counselling process is given below:

  • Qualified candidates have to fill up the counselling application form by downloading it from the official website of WBJEEB. WBJECA counselling fee should be deposited by the candidates in the prescribed manner.

  • Candidates have to pay a non-refundable counselling fee of INR 506/- through the duly filled-in E-challan at any branch of Allahabad Bank. Candidates are requested to bring the Board’s copy of the e-challan with them on the day of counselling.

  • On declaration of WB JECA results, merit list is published by WBJEEB. WB JECA counselling status/schedule is posted on the official website to intimate the candidates.

  • If any candidate is unable to appear for the counselling in person owing to valid reasons under exceptional circumstances/medical ground, his/her parents/ guardians may be permitted to appear for the counselling on his/her behalf with the following documents.

  • Authorisation letter from the candidate attesting the signature of his/her parent/guardian.

  • Medical Certificate from a registered practitioner.

Other important points to be noted:

  • Candidates are required to be present positively half an hour before the specified time slot for their counselling.

  • Candidates should note that allotment of a seat in any University/Institute by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board is completely Provisional and is subject to fulfillment of the eligibility and other criteria specific to the allotted University / Institute for admission to MCA course.

  • If the candidate does not fulfill the eligibility criteria, then his/her allotment can be cancelled at any stage at the time of verification.

  • Candidates belonging to states other than West Bengal are not considered for admission to Government Engineering colleges.

  • Reservation of seats for Reserved category (SC / ST / PWD / OBC (A) / OBC (B) ) is applicable to the candidates of the State of West Bengal only. SC / ST / PWD / OBC (A) / OBC (B) candidates of other states cannot avail of this facility.

  • For Government and Government aided Engineering & Technological Colleges, the reservation of seats for SC / ST / PWD / OBC (A) / OBC (B) candidates is as per Government Rules.

  • For Universities / University Departments reservation rules in case of SC / ST / PWD / OBC (A) / OBC (B) candidates of the concerned Universities are followed.

  • Appearance of a rank in the counselling schedule does not guarantee a seat in any University/Institute. Counselling for allotment of seats is stopped as soon as the last vacant seat is filled up and no further queries in this regard are entertained.

  • The claim of a candidate to exercise option is limited to the vacancies prevalent at that instant when his/her turn comes for appearing before the counselling officials.

  • The option has to be exercised at the time of counselling. Once the allotment of a seat in any University/Institute is done, no further change of the University/Institute is entertained.

  • No refund of counselling fee is admissible.

  • Candidates are required to take admission to the allotted University / institute within five days from the date of allotment.

WB JECA Admit Card 2018

WB JECA admit card 2018 will be released by the conducting authority of the entrance exam on its official website. The admit card of WB JECA 2018 is expected to be released on June 13, 2018 in online mode for the candidates who have successfully registered for the test. To access the admit card of WB JECA 2018, candidates have to enter their required credentials.

The admit card of WB JECA is a mandatory document to be produced at the exam centre. Candidates will not be allowed to write the exam, without a valid admit card. The admit card/hall ticket of WB JECA will contain details such as name and address of the exam centre, exam date and time, candidate’s name and exam roll number. In case a candidate finds any discrepancy in WB JECA admit card 2018, it must immediately be reported to the conducting authority for rectification.

How to Apply for WB JECA 2018

The WB JECA 2018 application form is available only on the official web portal of WBJEE. The application fee is INR 500 for all the categories. For filling the application form, candidates should have a working mobile number and a valid email address.

The following steps must be followed while filling the application process:

Filling Up of Application Form:

  • In this step, candidates are required to fill their personal details in the application form such as Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s name and Date of Birth, Mobile number and E-mail ID.

  • After that, candidates have to choose a Password and Security question and click on the 'Submit' button.

  • An application number/registration number is sent on the registered e-mail address.

  • Candidates have to remember the security question and password for future use. There is no way to recover the password if it is forgotten.

  • After this, candidates have to enter various details such as Nationality, Income category, Residential address, Choice of examination zones, Academic details, etc.

  • Candidates have to then verify the provided information in the application form and click on the 'Submit' button.

Uploading of Documents:

  • Candidates need to upload scanned images of their recent Photograph, Signature and Thumb impression as per the given specifications.

  • The Photograph should be taken on or after December 01, 2016. Background of the Photograph should be in light colour.

  • The candidate's face should capture at least half portion of the entire space of Photograph looking straight to the camera.

  • The Photograph should match with the appearance of candidates. They also have to produce a copy of the same Photograph at the time of examination.

Payment of Application Fee:

  • After successfully filling the application form, candidates have to pay the application fee.

  • The payment of fees can be done in two ways: online and offline.

  • In online mode, the application fee can be paid through Debit card / Credit card or Net Banking.

  • In offline mode, the application fee can be paid through Allahabad E- Challan. Candidates have to take a print of the Challan and deposit the fee in cash at any branch of Allahabad Bank.

  • The application fee is INR 500 and once the fee is paid, it will not be refundable under any circumstances.

Confirmation Page:

  • After successful payment of fee, candidates are automatically directed to the option of downloading and printing of the confirmation page.

  • The application form is not considered as complete until the confirmation page is generated.

  • Candidates have to take a printout of the confirmation page for further admission rounds.

  • The confirmation page cannot be re-generated at any later stage.
