Each city can have multiple XAT exam centres in 2026 where the exam will be conducted. The exam conducting authority assigns the XAT exam centres to the candidates based on the preferences filled during the XAT application process. Once you submit the XAT application process and your options are locked, you will not be able to change your XAT exam centre preferences. Candidates are not allowed to modify their exam centre choices in XAT 2026 after they have submitted the application form. Candidates must also note that the final allotment of the exam centres depends on XLRI, and your exam centre may be allotted from outside of your entered preferences. However, in practice, it rarely happens that a candidate does not get allotted their first or second preferred centre.

XAT is conducted in approximately 79 to 80 cities across India. During the application process, there is a field where you can select your preferred test cities. You can simply choose the cities that are most convenient for you from the dropdown list provided. The exam conducting authorities will allocate a test center in the city of your first choice to every candidate. If, for any reason, the seats in your first-choice city are filled, the center will be assigned to your second-choice city. Center allocation is done on a first-come-first-served basis, so it's advisable to complete and submit your XAT application form as early as possible to increase your chances of getting your preferred test center.
Since the XAT exam is conducted in an online format, you are not required to bring any stationery items except for a blue or black ballpoint pen, which is needed for signing the attendance sheet.
