XAT Application Form 2021 (Registration from September 12)

The XAT 2021 registration process will begin from September 12, 2020, onward. Candidates can fill the application form until November 30, 2020, in online mode on the official website of XAT 2021. The XAT application process 2021 involves three steps: Registration for XAT, filling the XAT application form and fee payment.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is one of the most popular management entrance exams, which is conducted by XLRI for admission to over 150 B-schools in the country. Every year, around 90,000 candidates take the exam. Candidates who are planning to appear for the exam this year can check all the details related to XAT registration, XAT 2021 application form, application dates, application fee, etc. here.

Candidates can apply for appearance in the XAT 2021 entrance by visiting the official website of this national level examination. To end all confusions in the minds of the applicants we have provided the steps in a sequential manner.

Visit the Official Website 

To start with the XAT 2021 application process, candidates are required to visit the official website of XAT. It is on the homepage of the entrance where the applicants will find two options - “New Candidate’s Registration” and “Registered Candidate’s Login”. 


This can be considered to be one of the most vital steps of the application process. The candidates are required to register themselves by clicking on the button provided for registration on the homepage of the official website. In case, the candidates have already registered for the exam they are required to log in by using certain credentials i.e User ID and password.

Once the candidates click on the  “New Candidate’s Registration” option, a page displaying the browser preference will get displayed on the screen. After reading the information thoroughly candidates should click on the “Close” button. Nextly, they will have to enter certain other information such as the name of the entrance through which they want to apply, date of birth, candidate’s name, email address, mobile number, country etc. After filling the details candidates will have to enter the captcha and click on the “submit” option. 

When the candidates are done with the registration process they will receive an SMS on their mobile numbers stating the Used ID and password. Applicants can then log in using such details and proceed with the further steps of the application process.

Filling in Personal Details

Once the candidate's login using their respective user ID and password, a page opens up asking to fill in certain personal details. These details include the name of the candidate, application sequence, gender, contact details, email address, address details etc. There is also the requirement to upload scanned copies of certain documents such as passport-sized photograph and signature. 

It is to be noted that the candidates are needed to be very careful while filling in the asked for information. When done with the process they should click on the “Save and Continue” button.

Filling in Academic Details

The next step for the candidates is to fill in the academic details. These details include marks scored by them at the secondary level, intermediate level, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, other professional degree details etc. Then the candidates should click on the “Save and Continue” option.

Filling in Work Experience Details

In this step, candidates will have to enter their work experience details (if any). It is to be noted that candidates can only enter the work experience till 31st march 2020. Only full-time work experience after the completion of graduation will be considered. If the candidates have no work experience they should just click on the “no” option and submit it by selecting the “Save and Continue” option.

Filling in Programme Preference

Candidates will also get the scope to choose the preferred course which they want to pursue at the XLRI campuses. The option for course selection includes -  Business Management(BM), Human Resource Management (HRM), General Management Programme(GMP), Fellow Programme in Management(FPM). Candidates will also get a scope to select the campus of their preference. 

Candidates are also provided with the scope of selecting two test cities according to their preference. The examination authority allots the candidates with test centres after the last date of online form submission. The allotments are done solely on the basis of preferences entered by the candidates. 

Once done with this step, candidates are needed to click on the “Save and Continue” option.

Payment of Fees

This is the last and perhaps the most important step of the application process. The application forms will not be considered to be submitted successfully unless the fee is paid by the candidates. They will be provided will two payment modes from which candidates can choose anyone. The options are - PayU and BillDesk. 

After selecting the mode of payment, applicants are required to go through the declaration very minutely and click on the “I Agree” option. Candidates should then click on the submit option to proceed further. They can also choose the “preview” option to view the entire application form on the screen.

XAT 2021 Application Form Filling Process


  • Log into your account and start filling the details in the XAT application form 2021. Also, upload your recent passport size image and your signature in the required image size.
  • Fill in the centers where you wish to take the exam.

  • Select the courses offered by XLRI that you wish to take after clearing the exam. You can also skip this step if you don’t want to apply for programmes offered by XLRI.

  • The next step will require you to fill your personal details such as date of birth, the name of your parents, gender, permanent address, etc.

  • Online Payment Gateway: The application fees of XAT 2021 can be paid through VISA/ Credit, MasterCard or Debit cards. Candidates can also pay through Net banking if they possess an account in IDBI bank. Also, note that American Express Cards are not accepted.
  • Cash Payment: Application fee of XAT 2021 can also be paid through the nearest branch of IDBI bank by taking a print out of the XAT Pay-In-Slip.
  • Demand Draft: You can send a Demand Draft (DD) in favour of ‘XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT’ payable at Jamshedpur at the following address.

XAT scores are accepted by more than 100 B-schools for admissions to MBA and PGDM programmes. Exams will be held across 50 cities in the country as well as in Kathmandu and Dubai.

How Can I Change My XAT 2021 Test City Preference?

The candidates will be, for once, allowed to change their XAT 2021 test city preference in case they find that the chosen test city preference for XAT 2021 does not suit them. As mentioned earlier, the candidates can only change their XAT test city preference for the year 2021 one time. In order to change their test city preference, the candidates have to contact admis@xlri.ac.in through a written application which must also include the candidates’ Date of Birth, XAT Id, chosen test city, Father’s Name and the name of the new test city preference. However, the final decision regarding the change of test city preference for XAT 2021 shall remain with XLRI.

What Next After XAT 2021 Registration?

After the XAT 2021 registration process concludes, the official website will upload the XAT 2021 admit card to be downloaded by the candidates. It is expected that the admit card for XAT 2021 will be available for download from the third week of December 2019 onwards. The candidates will just have to log in to the official website with their XAT 2020 ID and Password after which they can download their XAT admit card for the year December 2020. Like every year, around 100,000 management aspirants are expected to appear in the XAT 2021 entrance examination to try and secure a seat in one of the top 150 B-Schools across the nation. 

The XAT 2021 scores will be accepted by XLRI Jamshedpur and around 150 top B-Schools in India but if the candidates wish to secure a seat in one of the XAT 2021 participating colleges except for XLRI Jamshedpur, then they will be required to visit the official website of that particular Institute and apply separately.

Important Instructions of XAT 2021

  • Registering and appearing for XAT 2021 is the first step towards applying to XLRI and XAT Associate Institutes.
  • Those of you who are applying to different institutes, besides XLRI, have to apply separately to institutes of your choice.
  • For taking XAT 2021, you can choose to pay the application fee using credit card/ debit card/ online banking.
  • You can also make the payment through a demand draft made by any bank (in favour of XLRI Jamshedpur).
  • You can also make the payment in cash through any of the IDBI Bank branches located in India.
  • Once you've filled the basic information, you will receive an email with a provisional XAT ID and password.
  • For all future communication, you will be required to quote your email (provided during the registration) and XAT ID.
  • You must ensure that the E-mail address provided by you is valid and personal.
  • Please check your emails on a regular basis and ensure that exam related emails aren't going to your spam/junk folder.
  • Please note that the XAT ID and password gives you an individual login on www.xatonline.in and on frequent intervals, you need to check for E-mail from XAT & other associated institutes.
