SNAP 2016 - Application Steps

Create Login ID
  • Register online on the website (snaptest.org)

Note: Any changes in the online application form will be entertained only up to the closing date of registration. No changes shall be permitted after closing date under any circumstances.

Completion of the Online Form
  • Open the Link on the web page and fill personal information like Name, User ID, Password, Category, Gender, E-mail ID, Security Question & Answer and Date of Birth
  • Ensure that the information you have filled is accurate
Upload Scanned Copies of Documents
  • Participants should upload all scanned copy of their documents in the required size and format
  • Documents may include passport size photograph, Community/ Caste Certificate (only if the applicant belongs to OBC/SC/ST), Educational Documents, Identity Proof, Domicile Certificate (if applicable) and other supporting documents as mentioned
  • Upload your latest scanned coloured passport size photo at the time of Online Registration for SNAP
Payment of Fees

Pay the non-refundable test fee of Rs.1500/- as per the instructions mentioned below:

  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD The candidate may pay directly through Master or Visa card online by following the instructions on the SNAP website after the registration.
  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH NET BANKING The candidate may transfer SNAP test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account using Net Banking option after the registration.
  • PAYMENT THROUGH CASH After online SNAP registration print 'Axis Bank or Indian Bank Challan' from the SNAP website.  Pay Rs. 1500/- in cash at any Axis Bank or Indian Bank branch in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return two stamped parts of the 'Axis Bank or Indian Bank Challan' to the candidate. Candidates need to keep the Candidate copy as payment receipt. Sign the stamped 'Symbiosis copy' of the 'Axis Bank or Indian Bank Challan' and send it to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat 
  • PAYMENT THROUGH DEMAND DRAFT Obtain a Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 1500/- from any Nationalized Bank in favour of "Symbiosis Test Secretariat" payable at Pune. Choose the mode of Payment as 'DD Payment' in "Make Payment" Tab. Take a print of the payment advice form, fill in the DD Details, sign and send it along with the DD to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat

  • After successfully submitting the application form, take a print-out
  • Also, save it on your computer this is the proof of your filled application form Keep this form safe for future use

Modes of Payment for the SNAP Test process:

Online Payment Through Credit Card: The candidate may pay directly through Master or Visa card online by following the instructions on the SNAP website after the registration

Points to Remember:

  • The SNAP registration fee is non-refundable. Please note that claims for refund of the SNAP registration fee will not be entertained on any account.
  • At the time of filling the online application form or while appearing for the SNAP test, any attempt to impersonate or indulge in any other malpractice would automatically disqualify the candidate from admission processes at all post graduate institutes of Symbiosis International University and make the student liable to legal prosecution as per the laws of country.
  • Every student is urged to note that no donation or capitation fee is required to be paid for admission to any of the Symbiosis institutes. Students are cautioned against falling prey to any such assurance/offer by any individual or outside agency

Eligibility for SNAP 2016

Graduate from any recognized / statutory University or Institute with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). Programmes which require specific discipline/ subject specialization need to be checked for eligibility as given by the respective Institute.

A candidate who has completed qualifying degree from any Foreign University must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign degrees/ qualifications need to be verified from AIU by the candidate before seeking admission to any programme of SIU. 

RESERVATION POLICY

As per the UGC Regulations/ Guidelines, following will be the reservation policy for admission to any programme of Institutes of SIU (except Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, which has separate policy #)
 

A. WITHIN SANCTIONED INTAKE

Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%

Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5%

Differently Abled*: 3%

B. OVER & ABOVE INTAKE

Kashmiri Migrants: 2 seats per programme

International Candidates: 15%

Candidates applying from categories other than Open Category are required to submit valid supporting document(s) at the time of GE-PIWAT (if shortlisted).

 

*DIFFERENTLY ABLED CATEGORY (DAC) AT SIU

In compliance to Govt. Directives on disability guidelines issued by the office of the Chief Commissioner for persons with disabilities vide Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment New Delhi notification no. 16-18/97 on dated 01st June 2001 and University Grants Commission Notification No. F.6-1/2006 (CPPII/ SCT) dated 30/09/2009, SIU has made provision of reserving 3% seats for Differently Abled Category (DAC) students in all the Institutes of SIU.

All candidates claiming admission under DAC will be provisionally admitted under the said category. Thereafter, the candidate will be required to obtain an 'Authentication Certificate' from Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC) within one month of commencement of the program. SCHC will check validity of documents produced by the candidates and verify the continued existence and extent of the disability.

 

#FOR SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES (SIMS)

As per MoU with Ministry of Defence clause no. 13 sub clause (d) The term Defence Personnel would mean only those serving / retired Defence Personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force who fall in the category of ex-serviceman as laid down vide Ministry of Defence Letter no. 36034/5/85 -Estt (SCT) dated 14th April, 1987.
 

RESERVATION OF SEATS WITHIN THE INTAKE IS

Defence Category- General: 80% seats for dependents (Children/Ward) of Defence personnel. (as per merit)

Defence category- Special: 10% seats for dependents of Defence personnel killed in action (war, Counter Insurgency or war like operation), disabled in action (war, Counter Insurgency or war like operation), with more than 50% disability, next of kin of service personnel who have died while in service, death being attributable to military service. (as per merit)

Open Category: 10% seats are in open category to civilian candidates sponsored/ recommended by the Industry (as per merit).

 

RESERVATION OF SEATS OVER AND ABOVE INTAKE

Officers of Armed Forces on Study Leave as authorized by respective Services HQs are granted automatic admission subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

SNAP 2016 Important Instructions

  • Bring the following documents while reporting to the Test Centre:
  1. Admit Card
  2. Your latest coloured passport size photograph should be pasted on the Admit Card at the place provided for
  3. Photo identity as specified in the How to Register for SNAP ‘C’ point
  4. Blue/Black ballpoint pen
  • Cell phones, calculators, watch calculators, alarm clocks, digital watches with built in calculators/ memory or any electronics gadgets will not be allowed in the examination hall
     
  • Occupy the seat allotted to you by verifying the Seat Number pasted on the desk and indicated in your Admit Card
     
  • The Test Invigilator will check your Admit Card and ID proof
     
  • The Test Booklet will be distributed just before the starting time of the test. The candidate must ensure that the booklet is sealed. If the seal is found broken or tampered with, please bring this matter to the notice of the invigilator immediately
     
  • The test invigilator will instruct you to open the seals of the Test Booklet and commence answering the test
     
  • Check immediately that all the pages of the booklet are in order. In the rare event of the Test Booklet being defective, bring it to the notice of the invigilator immediately who will arrange for the replacement of Test Booklet if required

    Note* - Duration of the test is 120 minutes, i.e. from 14.00 hrs. to 16.00 hrs. The candidate may attempt any section in any order
     
  • The candidate will not be allowed to leave the hall till the test is over and until the Invigilator has collected the answer OMR sheet and Question Booklet. The candidate will be allowed to leave the hall only after the answer OMR sheets and Question  
     
  • Booklet of all the candidates in the hall have been collected and accounted for.  

10. Candidates found using any unfair means will forfeit their chance of being considered for admission and will be debarred from receiving SNAP scores.
11. Invigilator or Symbiosis Test Secretariat Representative will stamp and authenticate your Admit Card.

SNAP 2016 Relaxation Policy

There will be different reservation policies for SIU and other institutes. The reservation norms for all the other colleges except SIU are as follows:
In the Annual Intake:

  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • Differently Abled*: 3%

Over & Above:

  • Kashmiri Migrants: 2 seats per programme
  • International Candidates: 15%

NOTE: Please note that the candidates who wish to avail the reservation benefits, should submit proper documents at the time of admissions.

  • There will 3% seats reserved at SIU for the physically disabled candidates.
  • The list of the disabilities which are taken under consideration for this is:

SNAP Application FAQ

1) What is SNAP?

SNAP is a mandatory test for admission into postgraduate courses in Institutes of Symbiosis International University (SIU). This aptitude test is the first step and is followed by other selection procedures. This year onwards, SIU is will conduct two additional aptitude tests for non MBA courses. These are MMC course of SIMC Pune campus and MSc Geoinformatics of SIG.

2) Is the institute NAAC accredited?

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) of which SCIT is a Constituent has been awarded Grade A by NAAC in January 2009.

3) What is the difference between the SCIT MBA programmes and MCA?

SCIT MBA programs and MCA are different. SCIT MBA in Information Technology Business Management (ITBM) is a 2-year residential Post Graduate Degree Programme which aims at developing Management professionals for IT Businesses and its specialized streams. The programme builds Management skills and reinforces IT skills to create Leaders, Managers & Entrepreneurs in IT products & services domain. This programme will also enable students to gain in depth knowledge of the niche areas of IT Businesses. MCA is a 3-year course, Masters in Computer Applications offered by some Universities.

4) I have done my graduation through a private university. Can I still apply to your institute?

The university should be approved by AICTE / UGC. Also it should be registered under AIU.

5) When is it conducted ?

It is usually conducted in the month of December. This year, the entrance test is being conducted on December 17,2017.

6) Do I need to apply for individual institutes separately?

Yes, you will have to apply for each institute separately as per your preferences.

7) Can I take the common snap test and still apply for MA(MC)?

No, you can’t. The SNAP test is valid only for MBA programme. Admission to MA(MC) programme is ONLY through SIMC MA(MC) online entrance test scheduled on second week of January .

8) Where will the exam centres be formed for the exam?

The test will be conducted at 102 cities. The list of SNAP test centres can be obtained from official website.

9) When will I get my Admit Card?

Admit card will be available for view and print from December 01  to December 17. You will have to log onto the SNAP website with your registered User ID. You will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon submission of online application form. You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission.

10) I have registered online and sent the DD/Bank counterfoil. What is the next step?

Congratulations on completing the first step towards SNAP Test registration. You must have received an email with your SNAP ID and password.

11) When the SNAP Result will come?

You can check the SNAP Result in last week of December.

12) What details will be mentioned in the Admit Card?

The admit card will contain the following details: Name of the candidate Test date Test City & Centre address User ID / Registration Number PWD/DA status.

13) Can I make changes in my personal details once the form has been submitted?

Yes, you can change your personal details after receiving your SNAP ID/ Email and password. (Note: The changes in online application forms will only be entertained up to the closing date of SNAP).
