The state code of JEE Main eligibility means the state in which the candidate has passed their class 10+2 or equivalent examination by virtue of which the candidate is eligible for appearing in JEE Main 2022. It is therefore should be noted that the code of the city does not depend on the residential place of the candidate. Taking an example, if a candidate is a primary residence of Kolkata, but he/she has appeared for their 10+2 examination in Kerala, the code of the state for JEE Main will be counted for Kerala and not Kolkata.

OCI/PIO passing the Class 12 examination, from a college institution, are eligible for the seat quota seats or the all India seat quota seats for NIT, IIIT, GFTIs. This is only valuable for the other state and not the home state seat quotas.
