GATE application form 2020 is available until October 05, 2019, for the candidates who are yet to submit the same. Candidates filling GATE application form 2020 from September 28 to October 05 can do the same by paying a late fee of Rs. 500. IIT Delhi has released the GATE 2020 application form in online mode. Candidates can make the changes or corrections in the application form of GATE 2020 from October 15, 2019, onwards.
In order to apply for the exam, applicants will have to register at the official website of GATE, i.e. http://gate.iitd.ac.in/idates.php. IIT Delhi, which is the organizing institute for GATE 2020, also allows the candidates to make corrections in their GATE 2020 application form. It is mandatory to check the eligibility criteria of GATE 2020 before applying for the GATE 2020 exam as the GATE 2020 application forms for ineligible candidates will be rejected.
The registration for GATE 2020 is done only through the official website, i.e., GATE Online Application Processing System or GOAPS. While filling the GATE 2020 application form, valid information about the personal, academic and contact details has to be submitted by the candidates. The required application fee also has to be paid through online mode. Premier and top technical institutes in India accept GATE score for admission to postgraduate and PhD engineering programmes.
Note: GATE score is mandatory to secure jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
A scanned copy of photograph and signature of the candidate.
Valid Photo ID such as Aadhaar Card/Passport/Driving License/PAN Card/Voter ID/College ID/Employee Identification Card/Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address.
For foreign applicants required a Passport/ Govt. Issued ID/College ID/Employee ID will be the valid ID proofs.
Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate/Course Completion Certificate.
Copy of Mark Sheet of the 5th /6th /7th semester.
Final year students must submit Provisional Certificate Letter as per format issued by the Home of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Dept.
Candidates in the final year of AMIE have to submit their mark sheet for Section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications.
Caste Certificate (if applicable) as per given format.
Disability or PwD Certificate (if applicable).
Candidates pursuing a higher degree or masters have to submit the qualifying degree certificate.
Candidates with backlogs have to upload a copy of the mark sheet of the final year issued by the institute where they are studying.
Net banking/credit card/debit card details for payment of the fee.
In order to apply for GATE 2020, candidates will have to follow certain steps if they want to complete the entire process in a systematic and correct manner. The registration process for GATE 2020 involves the following stages: Registration, GOAPS Password, GOAPS Enrolment ID, Application Filling and Uploading Images and Supporting Documents, Online Fee Payment, etc.
Step1: Registration through GOAPS:
Visit the official website of GATE.
Register as “New User” and proceed as mentioned in the guide.
After successful registration, they will get access to GOAPS with the credentials they entered such name, valid email ID and mobile number.
Note: The email ID and mobile number submitted must be valid in nature because all communication related to the examination will be sent through this medium.
While creating the password, the applicants must note that they should create the password, which cannot be guessed easily.
It is advisable for applicants not to use their name, date of birth or easily guessable string of alphabets or numbers.
Try creating a password that has numbers, alphabets and special characters.
Confirm the registration.
GOAPS Enrolment ID:
After the successful registration, the candidates receive an email that contains the GOAPS Enrolment ID.
The Enrolment ID is necessary to log in for filling the online application form for GATE 2020.
Step 2: Filling GATE 2020 Application Process:
Next, applicants had to fill the application form of GATE 2020 with Personal information including Name, Date of Birth and other requisite information,
Click on 'Start the GATE 2020 Application Process' tab.
Personal Details: Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Category, A person with Disability Status and Dyslexia Status, Country of Permanent Residence, State/Union Territory, Select ID Proof and Enter ID Proof Number, Name of Parent/Guardian (stick to the specifications), Country of Residence of Parent/Guardian, Mobile Number of Parent/Guardian etc.
Address details for communication purpose (PIN code mandatory)
Eligibility details, i.e. previous education details: Name of the college where the candidate had completed UG degree. The candidates must also specify the address of the college along with PIN code.
Before filling the application form, the candidates must have clarity on the GATE paper and examination centre.
Step 3: Uploading of Scanned Documents:
In this step, candidates have to upload their scanned recent photograph, signature and other documents (if required) according to the specifications mentioned by the exam conducting authorities.

Thumb impression as per the specified requirements.
Scanned images (JPEG format) of degree certificates/ mark sheets
Scanned copy of category certificate (if applicable) in PDF format.

After uploading the documents, read the declaration and click on the ' checkbox' to proceed to the fee payment.
Step 4: Preview of Application Form:
Before proceeding to online fee payment, the server will display the preview of the GATE 2020 application form.
No changes will be allowed once candidates click on ‘Confirm and Final Submit’ button.
All candidates are advised to thoroughly check their submitted information for any mistakes.
Click on “Confirm and Submit”.
Step 5: Payment of Fees:
The payment of fees has to be done through online mode such as net banking/debit card/credit card.
After the payment is done, the candidates will be redirected to the GOAPS website.

Step 6: Submission of Application Form 2020:
After payment, the application form of GATE 2020 will be successfully submitted through GOAPS.
Download it and take a print out of the filled application form and keep it for your own reference.
The GATE 2020 application correction window for registered candidates will be available from October 15, 2019 in online mode. However, not all information is open to changes. The last date for correcting the mistakes in the GATE 2020 application form will be mentioned on the online notification sheet. In order to make changes, candidates must send an E-mail to their respective zonal office.
The following details can be edited before paying the application fee-
Communication Address, Academic Details, Date of Birth, Gender and Category can be corrected.

Since the details mentioned-above cannot be edited, in case the mistake is made then applicants have to re-apply for GATE 2020 with a new E-mail ID and Phone Number. It must be noted that the previous application fee will not be refunded.
Candidates applying for GATE 2020 must also know that they can now change the exam city and appear at the centre that suits them. This process can be done once the Application Procedure is complete and processed for further proceedings of GATE 2020. The provisions for the same has started and the ones interested can now make the relevant changes. The test takers can download the form released by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi for making the changes in the exam city. A requisite amount is also to be paid along with the desired correction. The form was released on November 2019 and is about to end soon. Therefore, candidates who wish to make changes must not wait further as the window once closed will not be opened again. No further changes will then be entertained with respect to exam centres.
The authorities are scrutinizing the submitted GATE 2020 application form for data accuracy. If any discrepancy is found, the candidates will be notified via email or SMS. The scrutiny process will continue even after the application portal is closed.
Candidates will be able to check their status after logging into their GOAPS account. It is important to rectify the discrepancies within the allotted time otherwise the application form will get rejected.
Valid identity proof is a very important document that the candidates must carry along with their GATE 2020 admit card otherwise, the candidates will not be allowed to sit in the GATE 2020 entrance exam. Also, while filling up the GATE 2020 online application form, the candidates have to provide a valid identity document which will confirm their identity. The candidates may provide any of the following documents as valid identity proof:
College identity card
The candidates are expected to carry their original identity card which has been issued by a competent authority. The foreign students have to carry either a Government Issued ID card, valid Passport, Employee Identity card or College Identity card as an identity proof along with the admit card for GATE 2019.
For the reference of the candidates, IIT Delhi will release a list of candidates whose GATE 2020 applications have been rejected on the official website of GATE 2020, i.e gate.iitm.ac.in. The list that is released comprises of two types of candidates – candidates not meeting eligibility requirements and the other whose provided information will be found to be duplicate. As already announced in the GATE 2020 brochure, it should be noted that for such candidates, no application fee will be refunded and no admit card for GATE 2020 will be generated/released. Additionally, a list of enrollment IDs of the candidates whose applications are provisionally accepted will also be released by IIT Delhi.
Note: According to the official brochure, "If a candidate takes more than one application for the same paper, he/she will be allowed to appear in any one session only. One of the duplicate/triplicate applications will be considered and the remaining applications will be rejected without any refund of application fee".
For how many GATE papers can I apply?
A candidate can apply for only one of the 24 papers listed on the official website of GATE 2020. The choice of the appropriate paper is the responsibility of the candidate. Some guidelines in this respect are suggested below.
1. The candidate is expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree.
2. The candidate is, however, free to choose any paper according to his/her admission plan, keeping in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he/she is seeking admission.
I am facing difficulty while uploading my signature. I have followed all the guidelines defined by the GATE authorities. What should I do now?
Check the format in which you are trying to upload the document. Also, check the size and also do not resize the file.
Can I change my choice of the subject after submission of the GATE 2020 application form?
Once the candidate submits an application form of GATE 2020, the subject chosen for the GATE 2020 in the application form can not be changed. In fact, after the submission of one form, if another form is found with another subject mentioned in it, then the second form of the same applicant would be cancelled or considered disqualified.
Am I permitted to change my category after submission of the GATE 2020 application form?
There is an option to change the category of the candidate for GATE 2020, but this change can be done till 4th November 2020. After this day, no such changes can be made or can be entertained at all by the exam conducting body.
Will I be able to change the examination city after submission of one GATE 2020 application form?
After the last date of submission of GATE 2020 application form, a window will be allocated for ‘Change of Examination Centres'. This request will be entertained against payment for a certain period of time which will be mentioned on the official website of GATE 2020.
Will the authority provide a "magnified question paper" for visual impairment?
Visually disabled candidates are requested to contact the GATE Institute Representative as soon as they enter the examination centre. The representative and the invigilator would arrange for the magnified question paper for the visually handicapped candidates.
