How to Apply for GATE 2019

The application process for GATE 2019 examination began on September 1, 2018. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is the conducting body of GATE 2019 examination. Premier and top technical institutes in India accept GATE score for admission to postgraduate and Ph.D engineering programmes.

Note: GATE score is mandatory to secure jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). 

Registration for GATE 2019 is done only through the official website, i.e., GATE Online Application Processing System or GOAPS. The registration process for GATE 2019 involves the following stages:

  • Registration

  • GOAPS Password

  • GOAPS Enrolment ID

  • Application Filling

  • Uploading Images and Supporting Documents

  • Online Fee Payment

Registration:

  • Candidates must open the official website, i.e., GOAPS initially.

  • Find the link for ‘New Registration’.

  • Enter a valid E-Mail ID, Mobile Number, and GOAPS Password.

  • International candidates must note that any contact with the candidate will be done only through the provided e-mail ID.

GOAPS Password:

  • While creating the password, the applicants must note that they should create the password, which cannot be guessed easily.

  • It is advisable for applicants not to use their name, date of birth or easily guessable string of alphabets or numbers.

  • Try creating a password that has numbers, alphabets and special characters.

  • Confirm the registration.

GOAPS Enrolment ID:

  • After the successful registration, the candidates receive an email that contains the GOAPS Enrolment ID.

  • The Enrolment ID is necessary to log in for filling the online application form for GATE 2019.

Data Required for Filling GATE 2019 Application Process

  • Personal information including Name, Date of Birth, Personal Mobile Number, Name of the Parent and Mobile Number of the Parent.

  • Address details for communication purpose (PIN code mandatory)

  • Eligibility details, i.e. previous education details.

  • Name of the college where the candidate had completed UG degree. The candidates must also specify the address of the college along with PIN code.

  • Before filling the application form, the candidates must have clarity on the GATE paper and examination center.

  • High quality scanned image (JPEG format) of photograph and signature.

  • Thumb impression as per the specified requirements.

  • Scanned images (JPEG format) of degree certificates/ mark sheets

  • Scanned copy of category certificate (if applicable) in PDF format.

  • Details relating to valid ID proof.

  • Net Banking or Credit or Debit card details.

GATE 2019 Application Process

  • After checking the Enrolment ID, candidates have to visit the GOAPS website and enter the login credentials, i.e. Enrolment ID and Password.

  • Candidates must fill all the necessary details as mentioned above.

  • They should also upload the necessary images, documents and submit other details as well.

GATE 2018 - Online Fee Payment

  • Before proceeding to online fee payment, the server displays the preview of GATE 2019 application form.

  • No changes are allowed once candidates click on ‘Confirm and Final Submit’ button.

  • Candidates then have to proceed with online fee payment.

  • A ‘Fee Payment Number’ is generated after the payment of application fee.

FAQs

1. For how many GATE papers can I apply?

A candidate can apply for only one of the 23 papers listed in the GATE INFORMATION BROCHURE or GATE website. The choice of the appropriate paper is the responsibility of the candidate. Some guidelines in this respect are suggested below.

1. The candidate is expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree.

2. The candidate is, however, free to choose any paper according to his/her admission plan, keeping in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he/she is seeking admission.
