The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been given the responsibility of conducting JEE Mains. The exam is being conducted twice - in January and April.  A provision to select the desired date has been given to the JEE Main test takers. Candidates have to fill in the correct information and personal details and pay the fee simultaneously. Before filling the JEE Main application form, candidates should also go through the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria.

Candidates must check the procedure involved in the application process and then start filling the form. Candidates can access their application forms for JEE Main through online mode. There is no printed application form for JEE Main. Only one application form is accepted from each candidate. If more than one application form is submitted by the candidate, his/her JEE Main application form will most likely be cancelled.

Changes in Application Process of JEE Main 2020

There are few changes recorded in the JEE Main 2020 as of the past JEE Main examinations.

  • The examination is taking place twice this year -January and April, for the candidates to avail the opportunity of scoring better score in a second attempt.

  • This also enables candidates to fill the form twice for the two brackets of examination.

  • JEE Main 2020 application fee has also been revised from that of the previous amount.

  • Aadhar card is no more mandatory for the candidates to mention in the JEE Main form. Any government approved identity proof is acceptable while filling the form. These can be a passport, bank detail, ration card, ID proof identified by the government, etc.

  • Parents’ signature is also not required at the time of filling the JEE Main 2020 form.

  • There is no age limit for applying for the examination. NTA has mentioned that candidates who have passed 10+2 in the year 2017 and 2018 along with the candidates appearing in 2020 can apply for the JEE Main 2020.

  • NTA has also started an initiative of Common Service Center (CSC) to help the candidates who are not so familiar with the online form filling process or submission of the application form. The centers will help candidates understand the procedure and guide them through the entire procedure.

  • There are more than 1 lakh CSC at different parts of India to disseminate help and support to the candidates who need it the most.

  • Candidates will also have pay a requisite amount to avail the support system and guidance of CSC. Given below is the fee structure for different services of CSC.

Essentials Required Before Starting the JEE Main 2020 Application Process

Candidates must be ready with some of the essentials required to fill the application form of JEE Main 2020. These essentials will help candidates to fill in the form successfully and register themselves for the examination. Keeping these essentials ready will also help candidates in quickly filling up the application form. Mentioned below is a list of these essentials for candidates.

  • A good internet connection.

Process to Fill JEE Main Registration Form 2020

Candidates should follow the steps mentioned below to successfully fill and submit the application form:

  • Register yourself as a New User/ New Candidate /Sign Up, Clicking on indicating tab 'NEW USER SIGN UP HERE'. Then, click the tab to 'Create New User'.
  • A new page will appear on your system screen asking for all your login credentials such as Name of the candidate, D.O.B, Gender(Male/ Female), Email address, Security questions & answer and Nationality of the candidate, Identification no. and type.
  • After entering all the requisite information, click on the tab 'Submit'.
  • The candidates are recommended to make a note of the Registration No./User ID and Password, which will be applicable in all further procedures related to the examination.

Completing the Online Form (all requisite information):

After successful registration of JEE Main 2020, candidates will be redirected to the new page, where they will need to complete all the basic (personal) as well as academic (educational) details like:

  • Medium of Language

  • Father's and Mother's name

  • Guardian name, occupation, Income

  • Exam applying for

  • Examination Mode

  • UIDAI (Aadhaar card number)

  • Year of Passing, Board, Percentage, Marks, Roll Number

  • Category of the candidate (General, OBC, SC & ST)

  • Married status

  • Residence

  • Address details and so on

If all submitted information is right, then click on the 'Submit' tab. A registration number/ID will be generated after the final submission.

In addition to providing all the above-mentioned details, the applicants will also be asked to select any four cities of their preference for the examination centre. 

Uploading Scanned Documents:

In this step, candidates should scan all the required documents such as photograph, signature, academic documents and upload the scanned copy in the given format and size. Documents may include Caste Certificate (only if the candidates belongs to reserved category), Passport size picture, Academic Documents, Identification Proof, and other necessary documents.

After uploading scanned copy of documents, candidates must click on review button and check whether all the details have been filled correctly or not, and make changes wherever required.

Registration Fees:

Candidate can pay Registration Fee via E-Challan or Credit/Debit card. Now, fill all the essential details that require you to pay the fees online. 

Those who want to pay the fee through E-Challan must know the procedure for successful submission of the Challan.

  • The E-Challan forms will be available on the official website of SBI.

  • Candidates are supposed to look for SBI MOPS page and download the challan in a PDF format on an A4 size plain sheet.

  • If the candidates are paying online then the amount is to be paid first and then the print out is to be taken out.

  • Those who want to make the payment through offline mode will also have to follow the same steps as that of the online mode for getting the E-Challan, as the CBS system of SBI is merged with the MOPS system.

  • The form with the amount attached or mentioned on the form is to be submitted at the nearest SBI branch within 12 hours of the E-Challan generation.

Downloading Registration Form:

  • After successfully submitting the registration form, take a print out for future references.

Acknowledgement Page Printout

After the completion of the application filing process, candidates are supposed to download the 4 pages of the acknowledgement section and take a print out of it. The acknowledgement page is an essential document stating the details of the candidates and prescribing the completion of the application process. The document must be kept safely for future reference in JEE Main 2019 examination.

Checking the Application Form Progress of JEE Main 2020

Candidates attempting to fill in the JEE Main 2020 application form are provided with a feature called 'Application Form Progress' to check the status of the form. The feature will be available on the left side of the application page for candidates to check the status. Candidates can track and view the Application Form, the Scanned and Uploaded Images and the status of the Payment made by the candidates.

Correction of JEE Main 2020 Application Form

Applicants who will successfully fill in and submit the application form of JEE Main 2020 for January session can avail the opportunity of making corrections (if any) in the form. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will schedule a date slot for the form correction process for the applicants of JEE Main 2020 January session. Any editing done in the Application Form will be chargeable for the candidates. It must be noted that not all the sections of information provided in the form can be edited at the candidates’ end. Other than exam cities, JEE Main aspirants will be allowed to change other details like category, language, name, image, etc. The correction is open for a few sections only. Once the final correction is done, no further changes can be made in the application form. Only the candidates who have paid the JEE Main 2020 application fee are allowed to make the corrections.

Steps to Make Corrections in JEE Main Application Form 2020

  • Visit the official portal of JEE Main 2020.
  • Click on the ‘Login For Image Correction’ icon.
  • Enter your Application Number, Password and Security Pin to log in.
  • Look for the ‘Manage form particulars correction’ tab.
  • Click on the tab.
  • Go through the mentioned instructions carefully.
  • Begin editing.
  • Pay the required fee

Note: Candidates will not be allowed to change the examination center and mode of examination.

JEE Main Application Correction Fee Charges

  • Candidates who have made changes in their category and opted for Paper II in addition to Paper I will have to pay additional charges.

  • Reserved category students will get relaxation in the additional application fee charges.

  • Applicants will have to deduct the already paid application fee from the fee that is to be paid now for paying the balance fee.

  • The aspirant who choose both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE Main 2020 but after correction he/she wants to opt for only one of the papers will not receive a refund of fee.

What After the Application Process

After the completion of the Application Process of JEE Main 2020, candidates will be able to get their JEE Main 2020 Admit Card. The admit card is the ticket to the examination hall for the candidates who were successful in submitting the Application Form for JEE Main 2020. Without the admit card no candidates will be permitted in the examination hall to write the test. Candidates must also know that the admit card contains the details of the candidates and the examination. Date, time and venue of the examination along with the name of the examination is visible on the admit card.
